Description:
Wow! a completely awesome Demon filled adventure. Every awesome Demon in D&D is featured in this adventure. They wreak havoc on some Lawful Good Paladins. Lots of chances at role-playing and amazing demonic flavor. The actions of the players have consequences in the adventure.

For years, the knights of Mendev have held back the evil locked inside the Worldwound, a vast, demon-tainted landscape. Every few years, they anoint a new protector, a sacred guardian charged with pitting his will against the teeming hordes bent on devouring the very souls of the living. This year, something has gone horribly wrong, and now a bloodthirsty demonic army has overrun the ancient fortress, and threatens to pour into the surrounding countryside.

Jul 3, 2011 7:15 PM - Jason P.: I knew I could count on Kenny the recap man. Sorry I missed it.
Jul 2, 2011 11:51 PM - Kenny P: The game ended pretty early, like around 3ish?
Jul 2, 2011 10:14 PM - Kenny P: Oh, Sir Albright "voluntarily" sacrificed himself after he dealt the killing blow to the balor. He became the 4th and final stone key.
Jul 2, 2011 10:12 PM - Kenny P: around the room and balor to put the stones in their rightful places and banish it. Each of us nearly died at least once in this battle. Afterwards, Erik agreed to be one of the guardians of the keep. Murth survived, for if he died, who would champion Love and Beauty with such ... fervor?
Jul 2, 2011 10:09 PM - Kenny P: by a giant, bejeweled statue guardian. We girded ourselves, Erik even calling upon his trusty steed, SARAH, and opened the doors. A balor greeted us, or rather the upper half of it, as it was still partially in a portal. It was trying to come out but the presence of the other stones prevented him full entry. The demon beheaded SARAH, nearly autokilled me, all in one stroke that dealt critial on a 15-20. Of course, he crit me and dealt 110 damage, but Erik took it instead. We basically scrambled
Jul 2, 2011 10:04 PM - Kenny P: After dispatching the succubi and saving one of the paladins, Erik and Pe Ell opened the warded doors with their "aura of gewd", revealing an armory warded with illusory magic. We also found the real Sir Allbright (the one that glabrezu inpersonated) cowering in a corner. He had one of the 4 magical stone keys that activates the Demonscope which he gave to Pe Ell to use in our final battle. He opened a secret passageway which led to a grand hallway that ended at a giant pair of doors straddled
Jul 2, 2011 9:59 PM - Kenny P: So we went down a shaft which led to a secret chamber guarded by corrupted paladins and a pair of succubi who were trying to get past a heavily warded pair of doors. Murth proved that the power of love overcame all odds, even the absence of his player and diseases.
Jul 2, 2011 8:16 PM - Jason P.: How did it go?
Jul 1, 2011 8:16 PM - Kenny P: Sorry to hear that Jason. I'm going to miss the Lovenger's taunts and high damage rolls.

"There's nothing without love
Nothing else but love can burn as bright
And nothing would mean nothing without love" xD
Jul 1, 2011 7:16 PM - Jason P.: Can't come tomorrow. It happened, I twisted the time bomb that is my knee and now it hurts like a bitch. I'll be laid up the whole weekend. Was kind of hoping we'd be done before it happened but oh well. Sorry guys.
Jul 1, 2011 10:50 AM - Jensen: Friendly reminder: 11am tomorrow morning. Place same: 41 park row. see you all there
Jun 28, 2011 12:20 AM - Jason P.: !Zut alors! All fine examples of the discourse of love. But there is only one man who explain love more eloquently than them all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4he79krseU
Jun 27, 2011 6:47 PM - Kenny P: I see your Nazareth and raise you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GNhdQRbXhc
Jun 27, 2011 6:31 PM - Jason P.: I see your Journey and raise you a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soDZBW-1P04
Jun 27, 2011 6:11 PM - Kenny P: That song is about as hairy as Justin Bieber's chin. haha :P I prefer love songs that kick people's hearts in the balls and BREAK THOSE CHAINS THAT BIND YOU! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LatorN4P9aA
Jun 27, 2011 5:42 PM - Jason P.: Alright, enough of this modern pop crap. Murth needs a love song with some hair on its chest, especially at 1:30. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDbAtWpoA6k LOVE REIGN ON ME!!!!!!!
Jun 27, 2011 5:35 PM - Kenny P: Then, I guess you better go and get your armor! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83I2bAjNK2s
Jun 27, 2011 5:23 PM - Jason P.: But Ken, I will catch a grenADE for ya. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR6iYWJxHqs
Jun 27, 2011 5:11 PM - Kenny P: Why does love always feel like a battlefield, a battlefield, a battlefield ...
Jun 27, 2011 3:24 PM - Jason P.: Yes, yes, no, no, no, yes. All questions answered, session cancelled.
Jun 27, 2011 12:35 PM - Tracy: Maybe, yes, no, eventually, something else, depends on the means....
Jun 27, 2011 12:18 PM - Jensen: Will they leave the elf ranger strewn helplessly in the courtyard? Is fighting for love really all anyone needs? Is the gnome possessed still? Will the dragon ever really fly? Is that a human or something else fighting with you? Does maiming corpses really justify the means? all these and more will be answered next time on....
Jun 27, 2011 12:15 PM - Jensen: July 2nd 11am-6pm. This is the final push for victory. Can the 5 valiantly charge through the depths and vanquish the demon horde?
Jun 21, 2011 3:04 PM - Tracy: So July 2nd it is?
Jun 20, 2011 5:26 PM - Josh M.: Ok, checked with the boss and the 2nd will work for me
Jun 20, 2011 7:04 AM - Jason P.: I could do this weekend or next. I just need to know ahead of time.
Jun 19, 2011 10:22 PM - Tracy: Me too. I had a great time today everyone. You're a great group! :)
Jun 19, 2011 10:20 PM - Kenny P: Oh and I'm free all of Independence weekend.
Jun 19, 2011 10:19 PM - Kenny P: Ditto on all accounts! I thought we were all very much in synch w/each other and efficient. And the antics are icing.
Jun 19, 2011 8:54 PM - Jensen: Loved playing today with you guys. You guys did some amazing demon slaying and only got a little dirty. I mean In the name of love really did help. Let me know what day works for everyone to finish this demon campaign. Oh and Voting is up now
Jun 19, 2011 8:04 PM - Ross H: Good game today! BTW, just to note - the weekend after next is the 4th of July, in case that impacts folks' availability. I'm free Sat/Sun/Mon.
Jun 13, 2011 3:52 PM - Jason P.: Ok, as long as it isn't a pain in the ass to restat everything. As far as playing another day, I'd really like to avoid hobbling over to another session if possible, unless there's a significant amount of content we would be missing. If all it takes is to remove a random hallway full of monsters, I wouldn't mind keeping the days at two.
Jun 13, 2011 2:13 PM - James L: "Six little Soldier boys playing with a hive;
A bumblebee stung one and then there were five."
Jun 13, 2011 1:59 PM - Jensen: Im sorry to hear that James. Thalen will be missed. His arrows struck true this past day. However, We wont need to add anyone, I already have the campaign stated out for 5 players. I think you guys will do just fine. Thanks Jason for having someone to take the spot of a fallen comrade. This just adds to the danger of the adventure. And now there were 5.
Jun 13, 2011 12:05 PM - Jason P.: A friend of mine might be willing to step in so Chris doesn't have to adjust anything, if that's ok.
Jun 13, 2011 11:36 AM - James L: I got into it with my wife. Arguments over my use of time. I don't think I'll be able to finish this adventure with you guys. Sorry. You're in good hands with Jensen. You can vote me a No Show, I got the points.
Jun 12, 2011 12:35 PM - Kenny P: Great game Chris. I haven't been with a group this much fun in quite some time now. I'm pretty much free all of that week so count me in.

James, after you left, we left the chapel and found ourselves within the outer edge of the fort. We explored a couple of buildings. The first was empty except for a cauldron bubbling in the hearth. The second was a hospice, in which the Lovenger discovered a body hanging from the rafters. As he rejoined us, a figure rode up to us on a horse, twitching ...t
Jun 11, 2011 11:49 PM - Ross H: Wednesday's unfortunately no good for me, and I'm traveling for work the whole weekend of the 25th... I'm out of town 6/23-6/27, and have plans this W/Th, other than that I'm free and down for whenever. Sorry to be difficult :/
Jun 11, 2011 11:23 PM - Tracy: I'm in. I also had a great time. Thanks all! :)
Jun 11, 2011 11:21 PM - Jensen: Had a great time today with everyone. Well since we got off to a late start today I think we need to add a session to this game. Does a day during the week work with everyone? Either this Wednesday night? Or next week sometime? Or the following Saturday 25/ Sunday 26? Let me know.
Jun 11, 2011 10:08 AM - Jensen: So it looks like Ross and myself are running a little late today so we will be starting around 11:30. So get some food, drink relax take ur time getting to pace. See everyone soon
Jun 11, 2011 9:17 AM - Jensen: James anyway you can bring your ring counters today?
Jun 10, 2011 4:30 PM - Jason P.: Murth is an Avenger of the Goddess of Love, Sune. He promotes love, happiness, and beauty by killing all the foul, ugly, disgusting people. Including demons.
Jun 10, 2011 3:58 PM - Kenny P: Iridia awoke in a dark and shadowy realm, bereft of magic and memory. She wandered the Realms of Dread with allies she found along the way, eventually restoring her memories and reclaiming some of her power and items. Her heroic adventures culminated in escaping Ravenloft and meeting and adventuring with her current party. She recently discovered that the remaining items of her former power found its way into the fortress that is overrun by the demons.
Jun 10, 2011 3:58 PM - Kenny P: A century passed and the civil war in Khorvaire has reached fever pitch. On the Day of Mourning, Iridia was in Cyre working with her Karnnathi employers when the conflagration of fire and magic consumed the nation. She tried to escape the blast wave by teleporting away when dead gray mist descended upon her. Hurricane force winds battered her body as wild magic tore at her mind, even her implements and items of power were ripped away from her.
Jun 10, 2011 3:57 PM - Kenny P: With a profane ritual she obtained from the Blood of Vol, Iridia bound the ancestor's spirit to herself permanently, anchoring the spell matrix within specially prepared objects. The authorities caught and tried her for high treason. However, they could not execute her without losing the ancestral spirit as well. And so they branded her with the markings of a dark elf (traitor) and exiled her.
Jun 10, 2011 3:57 PM - Kenny P: Armed with the experience and knowledge of her travels, she returned home to petition the Undying Court for membership. However, the Priests of Transition deemed her works heresy, accusing her of tainting their legacy by consorting with dragons, giants and even going so far as to study the forbidden teachings of Vol. In defiance, she snuck into the Well of Memories and stole the interred remains of one of her ancestors.
Jun 10, 2011 3:56 PM - Kenny P: Iridia Eleri Vaerol (aka Witch of the Dead Seed) is a dark elf. Born under the shadowy boughs of Aerenal, Iridia shares her people's obsession with death and the necromantic arts. Quickly mastering the Art, she chafed under traditional methods of spellcraft and sought greater insight beyond Elven shores. Her journeyman quest for knowledge drank in the breadth of Eberron, taking her to Xen'drik, the ancestral homeland of the elves, Khorvaire, even the dragon nation of Argonnessen.
Jun 10, 2011 3:46 PM - Ross H: Chax was a member of an adventuring group that was nearly destroyed by a series of battles against a corrupted abomination prince from the Far Realms - Chax was the only one to escape, being swept away from the battle, nearly dead, by the current. Since, he's been wracked with guilt for the death of his comrades and desperately searching for the skills and companions needed to avenge their death. As a result, he tends to switch somewhat randomly between reckless abandon and paralyzing caution.
Jun 10, 2011 3:42 PM - James L: Very self-reliant, he carries around many elven magical camp supplies that make spending the nights in the woods extremely enjoyable. He enjoys the outdoors, and only hesitatingly ever goes anywehre that would keep him from being able to see the stars at night. Most of the time he can be seen fiddling with the string of his bow, or checking the fletching of his magical arrows.
Jun 10, 2011 3:41 PM - James L: Thalian, Elven Ranger

Born under the blessed sign of Corellon's bow (a constellation). An only child, he showed immense skill and accuracy, even for an elf, at a young age and was taken up as appprentice to the famed Archer Corelwyn of his forest.

He is an easygoing professional. He makes archery look like an art-form.
He's a little snobbish: there is nary a person in all of existence that can match his accuracy and he knows it. He takes it very personally when he misses, and beats himse
Jun 10, 2011 2:25 PM - Ross H: Ack - sorry, haven't been paying attention. Quick backstory. Chax has always been a natural at manipulating magical energies, able to perform powerful sorceries with minimal effort - in fact, he's always kind of surprised that other people find it so hard. Never had the best relationships with the more "studied" magic users (e.g. wizards), and has a tendency to set things (e.g. wizards) on fire when they annoy him. Which they do often.
Jun 10, 2011 1:53 AM - Kenny P: Long backstory short: Iridia Eleri Vaerol is a dark elf. Born under the shadowy boughs of Aerenal, Iridia shares her ppl's obsession with death and the necromantic arts. Physically branded for a crime, she was exiled. Got caught in the Day of Mourning; gray mists spirited her away to Realms of Dread, lvl drained & amnesiac. Reclaimed some back and escaped Ravenloft. Started paragon (planeshifter) by meeting you guys. Specter familiar is rly her ancestor. Has an undead servitor also.
Jun 10, 2011 1:12 AM - Kenny P: Hey guys. I was wondering if we can start brainstorming ideas for our group name. How about "The Reckoning"? Our catchphrase could be something like, "We are The Reckoning, and YOU are found wanting." :D
Jun 9, 2011 9:17 PM - Tracy: Backstory:

Pe Ell was once a member of a noble family. He was next in line to take the throne and be heir to the Gnome nation of Svensbergsveres and all of its massive estate and holdings. Pe Elll was never one to be tied down, although he enjoys the luxuries of being a prince, the monotonous hum-drum of politics bores him to death. His speech impediment has always had an endearing effect on people and made them to suspect less than what he truly is. Quick witted and not in the least self
Jun 9, 2011 4:29 PM - Kenny P: You can ask. But will he give it to you? Doubtful. :P
Jun 9, 2011 3:28 PM - Jason P.: 4 levels above? So I can't ask for a Vorpal Sword?
Jun 8, 2011 10:58 PM - Tracy: @Chris, what level magic item are you asking about? Or is it just anything we'd put on a 'wish list' using the 4 levels above rule?
Jun 8, 2011 10:56 PM - Tracy: lol, no worries James, I will stick with my build to ensure we have a leader, I may think of changing to Inspiring Warlord to give that extra healing boost, but who knows? :)
Jun 8, 2011 3:25 PM - Jason P.: Ooh, nice. Getting there!
Jun 8, 2011 3:16 PM - James L: Lastly, I am probably changing to a Monk. Sorry if that throws anyone for a loop.
Jun 8, 2011 3:09 PM - James L: I added some items to the "Common Items" list, see the link here http://rpgconnect.org/popup_instruct_SE.html
Jun 8, 2011 3:09 PM - James L: I looked at those themes and I came to the conclusion that, players output more damage, and DM has to make adjustments over and above the norm. For Dark Sun the creatures are tougher so it makes sense. For now, they aren't allowed in Campaigns.
Jun 8, 2011 8:43 AM - Jensen: @Kender, no themes as of right now. Just checked the house rules.
Jun 7, 2011 6:22 PM - Kenny P: Hey James, are themes allowed now that there are non-Dark Sun ones? Just curious.
Jun 7, 2011 5:06 PM - Jensen: Alright adventurers, You are the 6 to embark on this quest. I would love to get a little back story on each of you. Basics: Name, class, race, personal quirks. One thing you did in heroic tier that was valiant & above the cusp. Would want to know a little bit about how you began your paragon journey. Why you chose your path. Also, 2 magic items your character has been in need of. 1 magic item your character has been seeking. My email is chrisjjensen@earthlink.net if you all could email me back
Jun 7, 2011 3:36 PM - James L: Tracy: I want to focus on fun sounding powers. Ones I think will be cool to use at the table. While I could focus on handing out bonuses or healing the most I could, or doing one thing awesomely. I find those boring to play. My focus is on being able to add "something useful" in many situations. I think that is more fun for me.
Jun 5, 2011 3:46 PM - James L: The logout on attempted delete is a java browser bug. It prompts you "are you sure you want to delete?" in java but if your settings don't allow it, it crashes and logs you out. I have to fix that sorry.
Jun 5, 2011 12:22 AM - Kenny P: Yeah, methinks it's a glitch or bug.

Anyways, I'm going for hard control with a lot of forced movement, grabs/immobiliation, and some summons thrown in for good measure. I'm building my character with big battles in mind. My rituals range from transportation to warding/bindings.

James, what kind of rituals will your bard have?
Jun 4, 2011 10:04 PM - Jason P.: Why does the system log me out whenever I try to delete a message?
Jun 4, 2011 10:03 PM - Jason P.: Hi Tracy. With two leaders, both can spec for some kind of offensive-style build and be able to cover healing pretty well. You can probably feel free to spec as some kind of Tactical Warlord that grants your allies attacks, since my avenger will have a good melee basic attack, and the sorcerer has an at-will that counts as a basic attack if Ross goes that way. Healing warlords are good as well, but you don't have to feel compelled to spec that way.
Jun 4, 2011 10:02 PM - Jason P.: Hi Tracy. With two leaders, both can spec for some kind of offensive-style build and be able to cover healing pretty well. Jun 4, 2011 6:44 PM - Tracy: Hi James, So I'm building my Warlord and I was curious as to your build. I figure with 2 leaders that one of us can focus more on healing and the other one can focus on cool bonus/effect type powers. I'm happy to do either or, but the bard seems to fit the bonus role while the warlord seems a bit better with healing. Any thoughts?
Jun 3, 2011 8:13 AM - James L: Sorry I never replied. I'm trying to control the quality of experience for everyone. I'm also trying to prevent the DM from having to adjust the difficulty.
Jun 2, 2011 3:24 PM - Ross H: Oh, cool! So we'll like meet you in a lobby and then go in as a group?
Jun 2, 2011 3:03 PM - Jensen: The location is a Pace University building, we will be playing in the theater Im the TD for. It has A/C and lots of space. it is right across from city hall, down the street from J&R music store, last corner before entering the BK bridge. @kender: yes it is the old NY times building, however PACE University owns it now. Make sure to have a picture ID so I can get you all guest passes.
Jun 1, 2011 7:26 PM - Jason P.: Haha, that's what I thought you meant. Allow me to save James the time to reply... no, sir! Tournaments must have hard and fast rules. James' tournament, James' rules.
Jun 1, 2011 7:09 PM - Josh M.: Oops. That should've been DMs. That's what I get for posting with my iPod.
Jun 1, 2011 6:37 PM - Jason P.: SMS? and yeah, I'm up for whatever time as long as I know beforehand.
Jun 1, 2011 6:31 PM - Josh M.: Wouldn't it make sense to let the SMS decide if they want to up the starting item distributions for their games? And yes, 11am is fine
Jun 1, 2011 5:50 PM - Kenny P: Hmm maybe 2 uncommons at paragon would be better than 3? That gives us 2 commons and 2 uncommons, a fairer compromise imo.
Jun 1, 2011 5:48 PM - James L: I think they shit out a brick when they let people choose magic items. It makes magic mundane.
Jun 1, 2011 5:43 PM - Jason P.: My avenger has that utility. I still want to respond to any diplomacy skill challenge by shooting my hook at the ceiling and flying upward! Flavor, baby! And some combat utility. Wizards shat out a brick with the item rarity system, and admitted as much. There are better ways to limit munchkinism with a scalpel rather than the hammer.
Jun 1, 2011 5:41 PM - James L: You have to draw the line somewhere. Limiting Magic Items, just forces people to spend feats and utilities on their weak spots, instead of 100% min-maxing. Acrobat Boots or Agile Stand feat. Magic Items is also the spot where most newbs have the least expertise or understanding of, and least patience to wade through.
Jun 1, 2011 5:39 PM - James L: You know, most magic items do the equivalent of a feat or utility. Weapon Focus~Iron Armbands of Power, Flying Hook~Angelic Wings, etc. So letting everyone go wild with magic items is like handing out free utilities or feats. Say I can't climb I could get a utility to fix it or buy a magic item.
Jun 1, 2011 5:36 PM - Jason P.: Feel free to comment, Ross or anyone else. I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who's played a lot of high level games, but I value the perspective of keeping it simple for newer players. That's why I like the compromise of three uncommons at 11+. Opens things up a bit, but adds some more buttons because, after all, newer players won't always be no0o0o0obs.
Jun 1, 2011 5:07 PM - Ross H: Trying to stay out of this, but I'll say that as someone with relatively less experience with all of this (and less comprehensive knowledge off the top of my head), I do appreciate the simplification of the process (and thus avoiding the potential "you didn't pick up [random utility item x?] noob." discussion). But that's just me, and maybe an argument that I should stay out of high-level games.
Jun 1, 2011 5:05 PM - James L: On the other hand, I can see Paragon and Epic players all having Rings of Feather Fall and other things, cuz how much would it suck to be level 28 and die from a simple fall.
Jun 1, 2011 5:03 PM - James L: Picking up climb items seems like contingency item for a certain situation. Ask Jensen to write one into the mod. The rules are there to prevent players from filling every slot with a low-level contingency item for every bad situation you could get into.
Jun 1, 2011 5:01 PM - James L: What about this? Wings of Vengeance Avenger Utility 10

Ephemeral wings carry you across the battlefield to strike where you are most needed.

Encounter Divine
Minor Action Personal

Effect: Until the end of your next turn, you gain a fly speed of 7, and you can hover.
Jun 1, 2011 4:58 PM - James L: I see, you're an Avenger, melee based and have crap-tastic climb abilities and don't want to be stuck at the bottom of some high wall. Naturally a PC would pick up a simple item to handle that. But Boots of Spider Climb, Ropes of Climbing, flying Hooks are ultra-rare according to WotC and can't be bought.
Jun 1, 2011 4:28 PM - Jason P.: So because there is a such thing as a charging wizard, I can't have an avenger with a Jagged Weapon and a Flying Hook? Never mind Iron Armbands. Surely there's a middle ground.
Jun 1, 2011 3:30 PM - James L: It's by the Brooklyn Bridge, and across from City Hall, near J&R
Jun 1, 2011 3:27 PM - Kenny P: It looks like the New York Times Building?
Jun 1, 2011 3:20 PM - Ross H: Excellent. And what is the venue we're using? Don't think I've been there before.
Jun 1, 2011 3:17 PM - Kenny P: It's fine with me.
Jun 1, 2011 2:39 PM - Jensen: Ross, Im fine with moving the start time back to 11am. Is everyone else good with this? 11am-7pm game on the 11th?
Jun 1, 2011 2:20 PM - James L: http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/27441201/The_very_hard_to_kill_gouge_wielding_charge_wizard_%28100_DPR%29?pg=1
Jun 1, 2011 2:20 PM - James L: See, I don't think a Vanguard weapon is cheesy, it's kind of cool. but when you combine Vanguard Weapon, with Horned Helm, Boots of Adept Charging, Frostcheese, Surprising Charge, with a Gouge on a Wizard, then it is f'ing broken and cheesy.
Jun 1, 2011 2:13 PM - James L: I've found with strict houserules aimed directly in certain places, most players could care less, but it pisses off the power-gamers immensely. Which does a perfect job keeping them away.
Jun 1, 2011 2:12 PM - James L: I've been DMing for a while, and have experienced many PowerGamers, and actually spent a lot of time doing very good job adjusting the difficulty for them. Which in turn attracted them more to me.
Jun 1, 2011 2:10 PM - James L: You see that you get your choice of 1 Uncommon item right? You want an awesome Avenger's Sword of Kick-Assery pick it, but then you don't also get Uncommon Armor and Uncommon Neck Slot etc.
Jun 1, 2011 1:41 PM - Jason P.: I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who's played a bunch of games at this level. I'll play and have fun, I'm sure Chris will give my avenger a tilt-a-whirl or two to play around with (you better!!). I just think the looming specter of powergaming shouldn't drive the limitations on items so much. Uncommons =/= munchkinism.
Jun 1, 2011 1:33 PM - Jason P.: As Adam the lawyer warlock would point out, you sure love that slippery slope. Deepfarer's Pouch and Jade Horse became "nullify every situation the DM throws at you". Three uncommon items at startup became "every item you could ever want". I just want a cooler sword than the same Vicious Weapon all of my lvl 2 melee characters have.
Jun 1, 2011 11:49 AM - Ross H: On a totally different note, Chris, are you tied to the 10am start time, or could we possibly aim for 11 on the 11th? I've got a doctor's appt first thing that morning and would probably be late for the 10am start.
Jun 1, 2011 11:47 AM - James L: IF you start with every magic item you could ever want. The rewards from adventuring become not very exciting. When you find a +4 Rat Killer's Coat, you won't be like "No thanks, doesn't fit my build" You'll be like "Oh my god thanks, can't wait to kill some rats!"
Jun 1, 2011 12:55 AM - Jason P.: At 11+, get three slots to fill with uncommon items, and get lvl -1 gp to spend on common items. Fair compromise?
Jun 1, 2011 12:54 AM - Jason P.: The stated design goal when rarity was released was that a little less than half of a PCs inventory would be uncommon items. Not one uncommon. And that was before they just said 'uhm, we forgot to release any common items, so hold off until we make some more'. Ban the really bad stuff (like the Dice, or frostcheese combos) and let's have good, challenging encounters with some Demonomicon ass kickers that spit on common items. Ptooey.
Jun 1, 2011 12:51 AM - Jason P.: I hate munchkins who suck the fun out of encounters with their cheezy combos. There's a reason I turned the charging barbarian with his Vanguard Weapon into a tree, and I do a lot worse to cheesier PCs. But common items are booooooring. There's like 4 of them, and I've seen them all by lvl 6.
May 31, 2011 10:59 PM - James L: If you bring a cheap magic item to nullify every situation the DM throws at you, or one that removes every condition you could be affected by, why even go adventuring?
May 31, 2011 10:58 PM - James L: Jason, at lvl 17 you have 3 dailies, 4 encounter powers, 5 utilities, and 10 feats; that's not enough choice?
May 31, 2011 10:56 PM - James L: kenderken you can cast 1 ritual per day for free (no ritual components needed)
May 31, 2011 8:30 PM - Jason P.: Yes, yes, and yes, and some more yes. I may want to get a Flying Hook and pretend I'm Batman. Or maybe a Deepfarer's Pouch in case the demons plunge us underwater. Or build my character around the Jade Horse. Options are just nice all around. I think the treasure option presented in the first DMG works fine. Then plug in the common/ uncommon system when they actually release some common items.
May 31, 2011 8:14 PM - Kenny P: It would be nice to have the option of trading a common item for its [lvl-1] gold value to spend on ritual components.
May 31, 2011 3:53 PM - James L: What other Uncommon item are you lusting after? Or are you looking to stock up on low-level contingency items like Acrobat Boots, Boots of Adept Charging, etc? Or do you think Iron Armbands of Power should be baked in.
May 31, 2011 2:26 AM - Jason P.: There will be no powergaming. Cross my heart, with a cherry on top.
May 31, 2011 2:24 AM - Jason P.: The boss man is in! May I make a request to loosen up the item rules for higher level tiers of play? You don't feel the restrictive rules at heroic, but you do at paragon. I've played higher levels enough to know. I'd suggest upping the gold to lvl -1 in cash, as per the DMG. I'd also suggest either dumping or otherwise revisiting the common/ uncommon distinction, as per this article http://wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/4ro3/20110314
May 27, 2011 3:24 PM - Jason P.: As much as I hate to bump, I'll do it now and not wait until the day before. Lets try this out.
May 25, 2011 4:10 PM - Sean: I can make the 11th and the 19th, but I would need to rearrange some stuff. Is there some way we could switch the date the committed adventurers list finalizes to an earlier date (perhaps the fifth or sixth)? I just don't want to move stuff around and then get bumped from the list the night before.
May 24, 2011 3:19 PM - Josh M.: just like my grade-school report card :(
May 24, 2011 3:09 PM - James L: Disruptive checkbox will soon appear....

May 24, 2011 11:59 AM - Josh M.: yeah that's fine
May 24, 2011 11:03 AM - Rob P: Both are good for me.
May 24, 2011 10:09 AM - Ross H: 11th & 19th sounds good to me!
May 24, 2011 9:58 AM - Jensen: I dont want to lose both Tracy and Graham. Let me know Ross, Kender, Josh, Tracy, Rob and Sean if this is doable. Im very flexible in schedule.
May 24, 2011 9:51 AM - Jensen: Well I propose this: Lets start on June 11(as already in schedule), and we add June 19th. How does that work for everyone?
May 24, 2011 9:27 AM - Kenny P: I probably won't be available on the 12th.
May 24, 2011 9:21 AM - Tracy: So I just found out today my job is keeping me out of town till June 9th now. Anyway we can move the dates up one weekend on this adventure?
May 23, 2011 11:25 PM - Graham: sorry I have to drop family vacation was just added to my agenda. apologies
May 20, 2011 4:20 PM - Jensen: working on that today. should be posted by sunday.
May 20, 2011 12:44 PM - Rob P: Any word on location or we doing Citi?
May 15, 2011 7:45 AM - Ross H: Oh, sweeeet! I know I'm late to the game here (been travelling), but I'm totally in!
May 14, 2011 5:45 PM - Kenny P: I don't mind, and neither does my necromancer. :P However, I do hope you will have the Durable feat to minimize taking healing surges from allies. I will have Comrade's Succor in my spellbook in case we need to redistribute surges in between encounters. From the game description, it looks like we'll be neck deep in demons.
May 14, 2011 4:43 PM - Sean: Would anyone be adverse to me playing a vampire (I know vamps aren't the most popular right now (Twilight etc.))? If it makes a difference, I would be playing a stalker bloodline vampire.
May 13, 2011 10:41 AM - Josh M.: haven't ever tried out an essentials character, so was thinking of playing a cavalier or knight
May 13, 2011 10:29 AM - James L: Ki Focus should be Common, treat it as such. WotC is just too slow for our avid totally fast forward D&D playing.
May 12, 2011 4:21 PM - Jensen: ahhh that sucks James. i really wanted you to play this mod. No way to persuade the miss for 2 weekend dates?
May 12, 2011 2:07 PM - Kenny P: Question: Is the basic magic ki focus a common item? I ask because it is the only implement that has its basic enhancement as uncommon.
May 12, 2011 10:15 AM - Rob P: Cool thanx!
May 10, 2011 5:59 PM - Jensen: Rob any race is fine.
May 10, 2011 10:41 AM - Rob P: Might change from human bard to tiefling bard. Dunno if that will affect the campaign since there are demons in it.
May 8, 2011 7:57 PM - Rob P: sounds good to me. this is my first campaign module so ill go over the special rules again and if there are any pointers id appreciate the help =)
May 8, 2011 6:20 PM - Kenny P: That is like my ideal game schedule.

I'm torn between playing a human turned tiefling swordmage/MC wizard and a blind old wizard.
May 8, 2011 4:50 PM - Jensen: So Sunday June 5th 11am-7pm and Saturday June 11th 10am-6pm. Roughly. Would like to run this campaign on two long sessions. Hope this works with everyone
May 8, 2011 2:36 PM - Rob P: also im flexible, either have a nice human bard build multiclassed into psion/wizard/warlord, or tiefling warlock dark pact. but i could always make whatever is needed.
May 8, 2011 2:35 PM - Rob P: either day is good as long as it keeps to the weekend, during the week would be a problem. any word on where it'll be held?
May 8, 2011 12:10 PM - Tracy: This sounds like an awesome adventure! Im thinking a Gnome Warlord
May 8, 2011 12:02 PM - ninjaplease: Been wanting to play this adventure for awhile, didnt know it got converted to 4.0. So stoked.
May 8, 2011 11:40 AM - Jensen: So looks like May is pretty booked for everyone, my self included so first two sundays in June. Let me Know
May 7, 2011 9:35 AM - Kenny P: Oh I am almost definitely in! I'll be rolling up either a 1/2 elf bard or tiefling swordmage.
