Keep on the Shadowfell-Part 2
Cost: $0.00
Level: 2

First Session: Saturday -- September 17th, 2011 -- 10:30 AM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 3 sessions

Keep on the Shadowfell broken into parts so different DMs can run it. Read only to p.61 which includes Interlude 3 an optional encounter.

The town of Winterhaven stands watch over a ruined keep that was once a bastion of good in the realm. This keep overlooks the Shadow Rift, a dark scar in the world that was once a gateway to the Shadowfell but has been dormant for many years. Now, an evil cleric of Orcus, Demon Lord of the Undead, seeks to re-open the gate, and the only thing standing in his way is a small yet determined band of heroes from Winterhaven.

Sep 27, 2011 12:03 PM - Capt_Dan: Yeah, sorry - same place, I think it will be easier.
Sep 27, 2011 11:57 AM - Vlad: I think you mentioned something about wanting to meet elsewhere, C_D, but I am assuming that we're still meeting at Citi today?
Sep 23, 2011 1:13 PM - Rob R: I second that. Well done Capt. I also like that you adjusted the module based on what actions we took. Choices matter : )
Sep 21, 2011 12:53 PM - Tracy: Yeah, this was a blast! Thanks everyone. @C_D: you really didn't lower the challenge? I feel uberheroed up now!
Sep 18, 2011 6:09 PM - Capt_Dan: Excellent job guys - I didn't soften any of those combats, and I threw in that last one off the cuff, I thought it would wrap it up nicely at the end and keep you on your toes more... Really liked Valk booting that one Goblin into the pit at the end there.
Sep 18, 2011 9:33 AM - Capt_Dan: Yes, 'ish' - am leaving now
Sep 18, 2011 12:59 AM - Vlad: So 10 am Sunday (err today, I guess), at Citi?
Sep 15, 2011 5:18 PM - Capt_Dan: I don't really fancy that; I think you should be okay, as I will balance the encounters for four as required. If someone else jumps in, then that's great too. You guys should be okay through most of this.
Sep 15, 2011 5:09 PM - Jarrid R: Is there some way I can play an additional char. (I am kinda worried about going through this a man down)
Sep 15, 2011 4:18 PM - havarthe: no, i cant do sunday morning either.... i will be in syracuse all weekend.. sorry guys.... bleh!
Sep 14, 2011 10:44 PM - Capt_Dan: Okay - go for Sunday, as Havarthe definitely can't make Saturday, and hasn't come up yet.
Sep 14, 2011 3:50 PM - Jarrid R: I can do sunday
Sep 14, 2011 2:49 PM - Capt_Dan: sunday works for me - Havarthe, Keneux? If we agree, I say go with Sunday - about ten AM. We won't go as long this time. I think it was good to crack that first part in one, but I think it would have been better to end around five after the big Kobold scrap - my concentration definitely began to flag!
Sep 14, 2011 12:54 PM - Rob R: If Sunday works best for all, I could finagle a few things. I can also start @ 9 on Sunday.
Sep 14, 2011 11:51 AM - Tracy: I could do Sunday if we decided soon, otherwise I have Pathfinder scheduled.
Sep 14, 2011 12:15 AM - Vlad: Any chance we can shift it to Sunday? Or do you all have commitments that day?
Sep 13, 2011 11:14 PM - Ross H: I wish I could jump in, but don't think I can fit it with my schedule the next couple weeks :/
Sep 13, 2011 11:09 PM - Tracy: Yikes, so essentially this would mean 4 of us until 1:30 and then only three? Boooooo I say. lol Anyone else interested to join?
Sep 13, 2011 10:05 PM - havarthe: I am very very unhappy to say this, but I cannot meet this Saturday on account of family issues....
Sep 13, 2011 5:42 PM - Rob R: Finally, I'm leaning towards getting the feat which increases my healing surge value by three. My utility will probably be an encounter that lets me make an escape attempt or save against immobolized as a minor.
Sep 13, 2011 5:09 PM - Rob R: As far as distribution of the items, I'm fine with anything the group wants to do.
Sep 13, 2011 5:08 PM - Rob R: Unfortunately, My next 7 saturdays mornings are spoken for and I can't get there before 10:30.
Sep 12, 2011 8:52 PM - Jarrid R: we can start at 9 I am fine witht hat
Sep 12, 2011 8:51 PM - Vlad: I can start earlier, 9 am or anywhere in between really. Either way I am fine with whatever the group decides.
Sep 12, 2011 8:38 PM - Capt_Dan: We could start a little earlier if people want? And when you have to go, we can either play on a little without you, or else call it - again, group decision.
Sep 12, 2011 8:37 PM - Capt_Dan: This one will definitely go longer than one day, so I don't mind as long as everyone else is okay. I wasn't going to go longer than 5pm his time anyway, as I paid for it on Sunday...
Sep 12, 2011 8:17 PM - Vlad: I don't mind. Actually, it seems I have a scheduling conflict for Saturday :X
I gotta be somewhere between 2 pm and 7 pm, so it seems I can only come for 3 hours or so. If you'd rather replace me with someone who can stay for the whole duration, I understand, no problem.
Sep 12, 2011 7:56 PM - Capt_Dan: As long as the other two come up and agree it, otherwise I'll make you RP it at the table! Opposed skill checks!
Sep 12, 2011 7:47 PM - Tracy: That will leave us with 63 gold. I'll make the next one as soon as possible.
Sep 12, 2011 7:44 PM - Tracy: That seems sensible for now since the Defender is taking all of our hits, we should make him harder to hit. And since the Warlock only has a +4 to attack vs +5-8 like the rest of us, we should give him the bonus to attack rolls until we find more stuff. Don't worry Keneux, I'll make you something special. :)
Sep 12, 2011 7:42 PM - Jarrid R: So the defender is getting the +1 plate and the warlock is getting a +1 rod?
Sep 12, 2011 7:40 PM - Tracy: I'll sleep when I'm dead Capt_Dan. :) Actually, it will only take me 3 hours to complete this and I only need 4 for a full days rest, so I can 'Tinker' through the night with no worries. lol
Sep 12, 2011 7:39 PM - Tracy: Rob, if you are still interested in playing, it looks like a slot opened up.
Sep 12, 2011 7:37 PM - Capt_Dan: I'm quite happy with that, if you guys can concur on how to split it, we can start with that next time. I assume you (Tink) don't sleep?
Sep 12, 2011 7:35 PM - Tracy: My vote is yes. Enchant a +1 magic plate for the defender. And a +1 magic rod for the warlock since he has the lowest attack modifier of our strikers.
Sep 12, 2011 7:34 PM - Jarrid R: I could use a +1 dagger, I don't know. Just trying to think outside the box.
Sep 12, 2011 7:31 PM - Tracy: Sorry, correction. Utility Power: Healers Gift. Also, I can disenchant that Dwarven chain that nobody is using and with that we have enough gold for me to enchant 2 basic +1 items. That could be a +1 weapon, amulet, or armor for 2 people. Thoughts?
Sep 12, 2011 7:26 PM - Tracy: I took the Utility Feat: Healer's Gift which let's me hug you so that you can spend a healing surge once per encounter when you are unconscious. Which seemed to happen a couple times. I also took the Feat: Potent Restorables which allows me to add another 2 to my healing powers.
Sep 12, 2011 6:08 PM - Jarrid R: I am leveling up my damage potential on flank. I am getting the back stabber feat and the encounter ult sneak in the attack. This is all to maximize my damage on the nova round.
Sep 12, 2011 5:55 PM - Capt_Dan: And there's still a traitor in the village! Is it the Cranky hedge mage, the apparently gentle Priestess of Avandra, The Elven Huntress or even the Lord Padraigh himself??
Sep 12, 2011 4:50 PM - Capt_Dan: *Thought as to how to create some useful synergies between you all.
Sep 12, 2011 4:11 PM - Capt_Dan: Admin: You all have 605XP, and the Party has between it - 523Gp, +1 Dwarven Chain (unassigned) +1 Amulet of Health (Dragonborn), 2 x Potions of Health (Warforged) and an ancient relic in the form of a Mirror. The adventure will resume in Winterhaven the next morning. Please bring a leveled up version of your character. If you have any thoughts about what direction to take your char, post them up here and I may be able to give a steer, or else another party member might have a thought as to ho
Sep 12, 2011 4:06 PM - Capt_Dan: A little recap: You have gathered on the road to Winterhaven, the charismatic Gnome, Oddball Warforged and mystical Dragonborn supporting the Goliath Kord-Knight as he seeks the fate of his two lost priests. Coming across the deeply distrubing Drow stalking Kobolds you have subsequently helped to clear the local area of a Kobold banditry menace, only to come across a far more disturbing threat...
Sep 12, 2011 4:01 PM - Capt_Dan: Okay, all in again? Excellent!
Aug 3, 2011 2:36 PM - Ross H: @Capt_Dan - I'd suggest just setting the dates for these however will work best for you, and then posting to alert people that you've set real dates. Are you expecting Part 1 to happen on the actual dates you have it scheduled now? Wasn't clear to me if those were just placeholders or what.
Aug 3, 2011 2:33 PM - Capt_Dan: I may need to move this forward a week - will that be an issue for anyone?
Jul 29, 2011 1:50 PM - Capt_Dan: I had anticipated at least a core of players flowing through all three, as it is effectively one adventure, however I think it breaks in three quite well, it certainly breaks well after the first part and I don't have a problem with a little mix/match if people can't make all of it, or only want to play part. I don't think it would be in the spirit of this site to say 'No' either.
Jul 29, 2011 12:53 PM - Rob P: Is it possible still to play even if I didn't play part one or is it assumed to be the same group?
