Oct 20, 2011 1:35 PM - Rob P: Ack! Thought could only vote in one category. Sorry!
Oct 20, 2011 10:24 AM - Tracy: Tied votes give both people points so if anyone has yet to vote keep that in mind. :) Share the points - share the love. :)
Oct 16, 2011 12:24 PM - Tracy: Voting is up. :)
Oct 9, 2011 11:50 PM - Tracy: Thanks again everyone for such a great time. :) I can't wait until next time.
Oct 9, 2011 9:19 PM - Romo: Just agreeing with everyone here fantastic game Tracy and everyone
Oct 8, 2011 12:27 PM - Rob P: Had a blast dude! Thanks for running, and looking forward to the campaign!
Oct 8, 2011 12:28 AM - Deirdre: I had so much fuuuuuuuun! Thanks everyone and Tracy especially! *SNARL!*
Oct 8, 2011 12:13 AM - Tracy: Thanks everyone for making my first DM experience an amazing one! You were all superstars and helped to make today's story really unique. I hope you all had as much fun as I did and that you got a good grasp on the game mechanics. Have a great evening. :)
Oct 5, 2011 4:09 PM - Jason P.: I am about 60% for this Friday. And next Friday is my knee surgery. I'll do my best for this week.

Gabriel is great at Conviction and Weapons, good at Empathy and Endurance, fair at Discipline, Athletics, and Might.
Oct 5, 2011 2:28 PM - Rob P: Besides a character sheet and pencil, anything else I should bring? I have some six sided dice to use as fudge dice if we don't have any to spare.
Oct 4, 2011 2:38 PM - Tracy: That's planned as being part of the session. In fact, one of the coolest parts of this game is character creation with the players at the table. It's impossible to bring a finished character to the game, so even those coming with self made characters won't be complete as we need to flush out character aspects as a group. It will also be good to see what skills you have as a group so far before assigning the remaining skill slots so we can ensure we cover the broad skill list without having to
Oct 4, 2011 2:32 PM - Josh M.: for those of us playing pregens, do we need to prep them ahead of time, or will that be part of the session?
Oct 4, 2011 12:04 PM - Tracy: Excellent! Let's move it to this Friday then. :)
Oct 4, 2011 11:58 AM - Rob P: Thumbs up
Oct 4, 2011 11:33 AM - Deirdre: Friday is fine with me as well, Tracy. :)
Oct 4, 2011 11:07 AM - Romo: down for this friday!
Oct 4, 2011 10:58 AM - Tracy: I'm being flexible if someone feels they are savvy with making their own character I'm cool with that, however the pregens are also only 50%-75% done. So are we good with this Friday? I know its short notice, but that would be great if we can swing it.
Oct 4, 2011 10:55 AM - Romo: Wait are making characters? I thought it was pregens?
Oct 4, 2011 10:41 AM - Rob P: Gotcha, so gonna be Manhattan. Ok kewl, so like I said I maybe able to get there early, or maybe showing up at 8ish depending when I get out of work and catch the train. I'm still training my new position so if its this week I should be able to go in early and leave early. I'll iron out my character tonight and email you the details. Wahoo!
Oct 4, 2011 10:30 AM - Tracy: I was thinking Au Von Gout. They're a little more flexible with you moving furniture around and I think if there are 7 or 8 of us it could get crowded around one table at the citicenter.
Oct 4, 2011 10:27 AM - Rob P: I could do this Friday as well but where are we gaming? I work in Mineola, so if it at the Citi building I maybe late or early depending on train
Oct 4, 2011 10:13 AM - Tracy: I could do this Friday if everyone is up to it.
Oct 4, 2011 10:12 AM - Tracy: Time will remain the same. My plan is to get started at 7, however early arivals can get a break down of rules and finalize character selection if they haven't done so already.
Oct 4, 2011 10:11 AM - Josh M.: I can't play on the 14th.
Oct 4, 2011 10:10 AM - Romo: either is fine with me as long as time doesn't change
Oct 4, 2011 10:03 AM - Tracy: Would anyone object to me moving this up a week to October 14th? I forgot a major company event that is on the 21st. I could even move it to this Friday if people were interested... :)
Sep 26, 2011 9:48 AM - Jason P.: I think I just figured out why Deirdre likes the 5th books so much. Does it have to do with the fact that there's a (spoiler) (spoiler) named Deirdre in it, with the (spoiler) hair and the (spoiler) (spoiler)?
Sep 23, 2011 10:34 AM - Rob P: Just got a promotion at work so although I am flexible, id rather not push things so early, so if its possible I'd prefer if we start at 7 or 8. Also any idea of the location we are meeting at? That would help me confirm what time I could get there
Sep 22, 2011 1:06 PM - Rob P: Lol oh boy this is gonna be interesting. Because I'm sill ironing him out, but I may take extra emotion lust, and make nate bi lol. By the way, I haven't had a chance to read through the players hand book as much as I would like. What effect does incite emotion carry in combat? Like if I have despair and lust, could I cause an enemy to sit down and do nothing with despair, and cause another to defend me with lust? I want to strike a balance between roleplay and useful.
Sep 22, 2011 12:34 AM - Jason P.: Just you wait until I figure a way to work the foreskin of Christ into my character concept.
Sep 22, 2011 12:19 AM - Rob P: Ah well doesn't really matter anyway, I was just saying it for comedic humor. Pictured in my head Gabriel going oops as he falls on nate, and nate screams "oh his ass burns! It hurts so much! Get it off me! Get it off me!"
Sep 22, 2011 12:16 AM - Rob P: Oh maybe I misread it. I thought depending how I build the virgin, so if I took inhuman toughness, tied it to hunger, and keyed what would penetrate it is hope, since that's the opposite of his incite emotion despair it would
Sep 21, 2011 7:31 PM - Jason P.: I can also be a True Believer if we're gonna stick to minimum power level. That sword is so badass, tho...
Sep 21, 2011 7:29 PM - Jason P.: Gabriel is no missionary. God is God. If you have no interest in insuring the safety of your immortal soul, then that's your problem. I make friends with you monsters because God works in (truly) mysterious ways, and he also wants to insure you don't get out of line and harm others. Heed not the vile rumors that Gabriel fathered a vampire scion at a brothel...
Sep 21, 2011 7:07 PM - Romo: Nate is white court virgin. So technically still mostly human or at the very least hasnt made the choice yet. If anything Jason is going to try and convert you the whole time. Lol
Sep 21, 2011 5:56 PM - Rob P: Crap, that means nate can't touch you Jason. Lol things are gonna get interesting fast if u fall on me
Sep 21, 2011 2:47 PM - Romo: That's awesome tracy.
Sep 21, 2011 2:26 PM - Tracy: In my other campaign I play with a "Greek Bicycle Messenger for the Gods" who has sponsored magic from Athena. He has a magic item called "Hermes Wings". Possibilities are endless...
Sep 21, 2011 2:21 PM - Romo: jason it just has to fit into the power level of this game which is "up to your waist" or 7 refresh points
Sep 21, 2011 12:51 PM - Tracy: Sure Jason, if you feel you have a strong grasp on character creation I'm happy to let you create your own. This adventure is designed to teach how to play the game (therefore pregen characters) but I can make minor adjustments to accomodate.
Sep 21, 2011 12:01 AM - Jason P.: I like the books so far, I'll probably keep with the series until the end. Just something I noticed, Harry seems to love (spoiler spoiler spoiler) and then death.

Can we play a character that's not a pregen? I love divine characters of all stripes and would like to try a Champion of God. I can finally put my Masters in theology to good use. I have PDFs of the RPG books if anyone wants a copy.
Sep 20, 2011 1:29 AM - Deirdre: No spoilers! Just stick it out at least to the fifth. Things start to get interesting. (IMHO)
Sep 19, 2011 11:16 PM - Jason P.: I'm slowly plowing my way through the books myself. Just finished book 3. Does Harry strain the very limits of his magic while coming within centimeters of his own death in every book?
Sep 13, 2011 3:01 PM - Deirdre: Finished! My reaction: "Bwahahahaha...wow."
Sep 12, 2011 1:29 PM - Tracy: The one that shakes it all up! :) Nothing beats the first sentance in that book! Enjoy it. Changes is by far the best book in the series.
Sep 12, 2011 1:27 PM - Deirdre: Just started Changes. Excited to see where things go.
Sep 9, 2011 11:02 PM - Romo: Damn deirdre
Sep 9, 2011 9:45 PM - Deirdre: Ninth book down! Things really start to pick up with book five.
Sep 8, 2011 11:35 AM - Jensen: This sounds amazing, I wont know if I can join till closer to the date. I will keep you posted when I know for sure
Sep 7, 2011 9:48 AM - Tracy: Harry then spends 2 fate points and succeeds by 1 instead of failing by 3 but now he only has 1 fate point left. :)
Sep 7, 2011 9:47 AM - Tracy: When playing a fate point you can't just say, I use a fate point to reroll my attack. ex. Harry is trying to climb the fire escape to get to his damsel in distress and fails by 3. Harry currently has 3 fate points available so he says, "No way! You call this a fire! There is a woman in need, and what the heck, stupid is the new smart."
Sep 6, 2011 7:13 PM - Tracy: If I were the DM and Harry Dresden were my player and he reluctantly approached a burning building, I might have to compel his aspect "Damsel in Distress" when he hears a woman's scream from the 10th floor of the burning building. He can accept the Fate point to go inside and investigate, or he can pay a Fate Point to ignore the compel. Once you're out of Fate Points you are completely susceptible to DM's compels. Essentially you become an NPC.
Sep 6, 2011 7:10 PM - Tracy: Fate chips can be used to 'pay' for a reroll or your fudge dice or to add a +2 to your total, bringing that aforementioned +8 to Athletics to a +10. You receive more fate points by accepting compels by the DM to get you into trouble. For Example...
Sep 6, 2011 7:09 PM - Tracy: Throughout game play, your aspects are what get you into trouble and save your life in a crunch. In this game you have 7 refresh to spend on power, however extra points not spent on powers get put into your Fate Chip pool. Most characters start with 1 or 2 Fate Chips every session.
Sep 6, 2011 7:07 PM - Tracy: Harry's High Aspect would be: "Wizard Private Investigator" Other Aspects would include: "Can't say no to a Damsel in distress" "Stupid is the new Smart" or "You call that a fire?"
Sep 6, 2011 7:01 PM - Tracy: Aspects are the greatest part about the Fate System. You'll see 3 aspects already flushed out on each character sheet. There's room for 4 more aspects which we'll flush out once characters have been chosen. Aspects our what define you as a character. For example...Harry's trouble Aspect in the first few books would be "The Doom of Domacales" referring to the fact that he is still not trusted by the white council and constantly being watched by Morgan.
Sep 6, 2011 6:59 PM - Tracy: I'm excited too, that's why I'm getting a jump on it so that I can include the nifty additions I want to add. Also, if people really enjoy it than I am going to run my own story I've created for the other Dresden Game.
Sep 6, 2011 6:54 PM - Deirdre: This is so exciting! How are we going to wait til October?! O.o
Sep 6, 2011 4:03 PM - Tracy: Cool Romo, I have 2 or 3 sets so we should be good for the whole table if you bring those. :)
Sep 6, 2011 4:02 PM - Tracy: So not only did I break it down into easily accessible PDF's but I've also put up the complete Players Guide (titled: Your Story) and DM Guide (titled: Our World). These are the full color PDF's. Our World essentially flushes out Baltimore (where our campaign takes place) and all of the characters in the Dresden Books. (so you can see where you compare to fellow supernatural characters).
Sep 6, 2011 3:12 PM - Romo: I have 3 or 4 sets of fudge dice we can use
Sep 6, 2011 3:08 PM - Tracy: I have skills, powers, stunts, aspect descriptions and character sheets going up on my google docs for everyone that wants them.
Sep 6, 2011 2:42 PM - Tracy: Fudge dice if you have them are six sided dice with 2 sides blank, 2 sides have a (-) sign, and 2 sides have a (+) sign. On six sided dice 1's and 2's = (-), 3's and 4's = blank, and 5's and 6's = (+). So essentially you could have your Athletics skill at Great (+4) and you would roll your 4 fudge dice. If the dice turned up all 5's and 6's (4 +'s) your Athletics result would be +8 total and you would execute a legendary maneuver (or attack, or dodge, or jump, or whatever your crazy brains ca
Sep 6, 2011 2:37 PM - Tracy: Skill slots are left open so that as people pick characters we can assign the remaining skills to balance the party out. Skills in this game are how you do ANYTHING. They work on a tree system starting with Poor (+0) (these are your untrained skills) all the way up to Legendary (+7). Whenever you do anything in the game you roll 4d6 (or fudge dice) and add your skill modifier to your roll.
Sep 6, 2011 2:33 PM - Tracy: No problem, happy to send you both. You'll notice both character sheets are missing some skills and powers. (Refresh are the number of points you can spend on powers, however you must always have 1 refresh left available to you so you'll notice all characters have a base refresh of 7 points, however only 6 can be used - this represents your free will)
Sep 6, 2011 2:27 PM - Rob P: Would it be possible to email u to see zach and nates character sheet in order to decide? I'm flexible but I figure while its open to hose, might as well be discerning. If this would reveal plot points, then I will stick with nates, because your description intrigues me lol
Sep 6, 2011 2:01 PM - Tracy: Anyone that would like a character sheet, email me @ tjgingell@gmail.com and I will reply to you with your character.
Sep 6, 2011 1:56 PM - Tracy: you have 4 refresh points left to spend on powers (such as superhuman: speed, recovery, toughness, strength). The catch is they are tied to your hunger stress track and require you to feed the more you use them. (potentially causing you to lose control during feeding and risk becoming full fledged white court)
Sep 6, 2011 1:54 PM - Tracy: There actually aren't party roles in the sense of a MMORPG or 4.0 type game. Just like in the books Dresden never 'does it alone'. He always has Murph, Thomas, Molly, Mouse, Butters, Michael, etc... to back him up when he needs it. The game is designed so essentially your character can fill any required party role on the fly. Nate is one of the pregen characters without his powers flushed fully flushed out. You are able to incite emotion (despair) on targets and feed off of it, but you have
Sep 6, 2011 1:50 PM - Rob P: Also sorry I've been mia for a bit. Are we pretty set with the 21st? I'm good for that day but wanted to confirm. Also I dunno if this has been discussed yet, but what location are u thinking of having this at?
Sep 6, 2011 1:46 PM - Rob P: What abilities could I expect from nate for instance? Like is the game play divided into roles like 4th edition? I've read the whole series including ghost story, so I know about the mythos of dresdon, but never looked at the rpg so dunno how its applied
Sep 5, 2011 11:36 PM - Tracy: You do not become a full fledged vampire until you actually kill a mortal through feeding. So a White Court Virgin is someone who is struggling against their inner monster as they try to feed without killing. This becomes harder the more they tax their physical limits and you develop hunger stress. Great question whoever asked that! Next....
Sep 5, 2011 11:34 PM - Tracy: There are several 'courts' of vampires: Black, Red, White, and Jade. Essentially Black court vamps are almost extinct due to the fact that Vlad allowed Bram Stokers to be published. Now everyone knows they can be killed with holy water, sun light and a stake through the heart. White courts are succubi, they feed off of emotional energy and their weakness is true love.
Sep 5, 2011 11:31 PM - Tracy: For example, here's a good question to get things started...What do you mean by "emo white court virgin"?
Sep 5, 2011 11:28 PM - Tracy: There are your options boys and girls. Pick one you are most interested in and if you have any questions at all in regards to "what does ____ mean" post away and we'll knock out a lot of questions that would come up at the table. I have quite a bit that I've added to this adventure if we can lay down some of this ground work before we sit at the table. :)
Sep 5, 2011 11:26 PM - Tracy: Nate Valakas: Emo White Court Virgin - Nate is nineteen years old, and is estranged from his wellto-do family. Most people assume he’s another sullen goth/emo kid who just needs some direction and perspective, but his friends at Neutral Grounds know the truth— he’s a White Court virgin. His family is keeping an eye on him, assuming he’ll “turn” sooner or later. Nate is determined not to.
Sep 5, 2011 11:24 PM - Tracy: Zack Meyer: Apprentice Wizard - Zack is an amateur athlete of considerable talent, but
more importantly he’s an apprentice wizard. He began his training later in life than most. Despite how early he is in his training, his master is currently in Edinburgh, so he’s
on his own for a bit. He has no idea how far in over his head he is—his success on the athletic field has given him confidence in his magic that he might not have earned.
Sep 5, 2011 11:23 PM - Tracy: Astra LaFontaine: New Age Occultist - Astra is a 40-something woman with the bohemian clothing, crystal jewelry, and breezy yet powerful manner. She’s extremely well read on supernatural matters, but has no power of her own.
Sep 5, 2011 11:22 PM - Tracy: Maria Emana: Idealistic Kinetomancer - Maria was born in Zaire (now Republic of Congo) but fled the civil war there as a teenager seven years ago. She inherited from her mother a talent for manipulating force—and used it to kill a rebel soldier who was about to shoot her family. Now she wants to bring justice to the wronged, justice that she has never had to face herself.
Sep 5, 2011 11:20 PM - Tracy: Martin Caputi: Retired Psychic Detective - Martin Caputi is a 60-ish retired Baltimore police detective who’s seen it all—and then some.
Sep 5, 2011 11:19 PM - Tracy: Dania Lansey: Half-Elf Illusionist - Daughter of a human mother and elf father, Dania Lansey
is a 30-something office worker at Johns Hopkins. The only outward sign of her unique heritage is her tiny stature; she’s only four and a half feet tall.
Sep 5, 2011 11:18 PM - Tracy: Sean Barnes: Metalhead Werewolf - Sean Barnes, a bass player in several local metal bands, is
a tall, imposing figure with long hair, a scruffy beard, and a habit of wearing black T-shirts and leather biker jackets. When he’s human, at least.
Sep 5, 2011 11:17 PM - Tracy: I will be posting the pregenerated character options. Those committed feel free to choose one based off of the description and post who you are interested in playing.
Sep 4, 2011 10:24 PM - Deirdre: Almost finished with the fourth now. Muhuhahaha.
Sep 2, 2011 11:49 AM - Tracy: I'm the cliff notes. lol Chris doesn't need to read the books because I never shut up about them. I (and Jim Butcher) do not recommend the TV show, however you'll see once you start reading the series you can't stop. The RPG is based directly off of the books and villains and npc's are stated appropriately. I can't wait to play this with you all.
Sep 2, 2011 9:04 AM - Jensen: No havent read the books but Ive heard the audio tapes of almost every book in a cliff notes version.
Sep 2, 2011 2:58 AM - Deirdre: I just finished the first today! Woot!
Sep 1, 2011 1:29 PM - Ross H: I think I actually may be at a concert on the evening of the 21st. The rest of that weekend would be free, tho!
Aug 27, 2011 10:24 AM - Tracy: Two dead barristas ... a missing proprietor ... ghoul attacks ... poser vampires ... boy trouble. And it's your case, whether you like it or not.

Better make that a double espresso.

The Neutral Grounds casefile is a one-shot mystery-adventure for the Dresden Files Role-Playing Game, intended for 3-7 characters at the "Up To Your Waist" power level. Customizable, pregenerated characters.
Aug 27, 2011 3:47 AM - Josh M.: Awesome, i can play now. Haven't read the books, but have seen some of the tv show.
Aug 26, 2011 9:14 PM - Tracy: shit came up, sorry guys, had to bump the time. Anyone here ever read any of the dresden books?
Aug 17, 2011 12:15 PM - Jensen: October 14th I dont think I can do. Show tech that weekend. October 21-23 is better for me.
Aug 17, 2011 12:09 PM - Rob P: Date sounds good to me so far. U said its pregen characters?
Aug 17, 2011 11:47 AM - havarthe: Friday October 14? I am in.
Aug 17, 2011 11:26 AM - Ross H: Hard to plan ahead too concretely that far in advance, but sounds good to me! I'll calendar it.
Aug 17, 2011 11:25 AM - Tracy: How does Friday the 14th sound? At first I thought this would possibly take 2 sessions but it can totally be done in 1 shot. 7:30 - 11:30?
Aug 16, 2011 5:26 PM - havarthe: I can't do monday or wednesday nights, but I am available all other nights and on weekends.
Aug 10, 2011 10:52 AM - Rob P: I realize that's super narrow so obviously if others can't do, don't stress about me.
Aug 10, 2011 10:51 AM - Rob P: Hmmm my phone is acting funny, thought I was able to post the dates. So ill write other here. I can only do weekends anytime or Tuesday, Thursday and Friday after 7:30
Aug 10, 2011 10:41 AM - Romo: I have been wanting to play this for a while! Evenings work best for me
Aug 8, 2011 9:52 AM - Tracy: Dates are tentative, put what works best and I will try to accommodate. :)
Aug 7, 2011 7:59 PM - Rob P: wish i could play but im only free on weekends =(
Aug 4, 2011 1:34 PM - Tracy: Neutral Grounds: Come for the hot, fresh coffee. Stay for the cold-blooded murder.

Two dead barristas ... a missing proprietor ... ghoul attacks ... poser vampires ... boy trouble. And it's your case, whether you like it or not.

Better make that a double espresso.

The Neutral Grounds casefile is a one-shot mystery-adventure for the Dresden Files Role-Playing Game, intended for 3-7 characters at the "Up To Your Waist" power level. Customizable, pregenerated characters with sheets and pow
