Fourthcore - Crucible of the Gods
Cost: $0.00
Level: 1

First Session: Sunday -- October 30th, 2011 -- 11:00 AM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 1 session

Description:
The first in the ‘Core’ series of introductory fourthcore dungeon modules aimed at veterans of D&D 4th Edition interested in the genre. It is also designed to attract players to 4E from games like Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. If you’re brand new to fourthcore, start here.

Fourthcore adventure meant to be like a delve. Players should hopefully complete it in a timed 3-5 hour session. These are meant to be rediculously difficult and challenging. Meaning you die, and try again, repeat until the time is up.Link to What is Fourthcore?

Centuries ago, the four deities worshipped by mortals – Kishar, Kotaresh, Lyth, and Asar-Segt – threatened to drown the world in a flood of saltwater to punish the living for their impiety. The oracles and witches of your realm struck a desperate bargain with the gods, however, and convinced them to spare the world. In exchange, the mortal kingdoms from which you hail were bound to demonstrate their faith once every generation by sending their most courageous and adroit warriors to the Crucible, a ziggurat in the lowest valley of the land.

You are one of these champions.”

Nov 7, 2011 9:55 AM - John McCullough: Voting's up.
Nov 1, 2011 8:51 PM - John McCullough: I just followed the rules in the official scoring guide.
Nov 1, 2011 7:27 PM - Tracy: @John - Awesome! Just curious...is the score of Exarch actually reflective of something or did I miss a joke? lol
Oct 31, 2011 5:13 PM - Jensen: John That was a blast from the past for me. I greatly enjoyed being challenged and being able to play a dnd game void of conventional rules. EPIC 1st level fun. Britt so glad you joined the game and I hope to see you at another your Knight kicked ass. Dan great playing with you, great Warden
Oct 31, 2011 4:45 PM - Jensen: Old Man Henderson came out of retirement kicked some ass. Died by the dice, rose up rolled again and saw everything the way it should be and kicked even harder ass and lived to tell the tale for another 25 years
Oct 30, 2011 8:45 PM - John McCullough: Great game guys! I had a blast running that.

Tracy, that sounds like a fair trade. I'll bring everything to WOBS on Wednesday.

With a score of 390 points, you earned the rank of Exarch!
Oct 30, 2011 8:31 PM - Capt_Dan: Good Times. Wardens are pretty sweet.
Oct 30, 2011 7:24 PM - Tracy: John, can I borrow your materials for this adventure? I'd like to run it within the next few weeks. If you let me, I'll laminate the cards for you. :)
Oct 30, 2011 6:48 PM - Tracy: Holy crap that was awesome! Complete TPK the first time and 2/5 dead the second time around. We were smashed, impaled, drowned, and unluckied to death. I feel like any survivors should be at level 10 by now. :) Great job John.
Oct 29, 2011 10:10 PM - Britt: backup is a human knight.
Oct 29, 2011 10:09 PM - Pbren : my backup is a scout.
Oct 29, 2011 7:03 PM - Capt_Dan: FYI - My backup guy is a Knight
Oct 28, 2011 12:29 PM - Tracy: Thanks James, we were told to try to balance out both combat prowess with a good array of skills to puzzle out what comes are way. We're not power gaming just trying to come up with a game plan for not TPK'n within 15 minutes.
Oct 28, 2011 12:27 PM - James L: But..for all I know Fourthcore could be just a bunch of empty promises.
Oct 28, 2011 12:26 PM - James L: You know... if this is truly written in the old-style of D&D, you will have to depend on your wits as a player to actually figure out puzzles, and not rely on your character stats. Think outside the bun, I mean box.
Oct 28, 2011 12:19 PM - Tracy: Melee training Con only changes damage output by 2, which isn't my concern. Being INT/DEX based creates 2 weak defenses. By dumping INT and taking CON training I've increased my surges from 7 to 11 and my Fort an 15 instead of 11 without effecting AC or Reflex.
Oct 28, 2011 12:11 PM - Capt_Dan: That invoker sounds good. My only concern with the Bladesinger is using a feat on Melee training doesn't seem very optimised... My Secondary is a ridiculous Slayer.
Oct 28, 2011 11:58 AM - Tracy: I've printed both and will decide at the table. :)
Oct 28, 2011 11:56 AM - Jensen: I got the leader covered. Don't know which kind but I'm going to be one. I say be the blade singer
Oct 28, 2011 11:11 AM - Tracy: or I can make a cleric....I don't see a leader yet.
Oct 28, 2011 10:35 AM - Tracy: or Human Blade Singer (secondary striker), Feats: Heavy Blade Expertise & Melee Training Constitution; Skills: Acrobatics, Arcana, Athletics, Diplomacy, History
Oct 28, 2011 10:32 AM - Tracy: So I'm toying with playing a Human Wrathful Invoker. Feats: Rod Expertise, World Serpents Grasp, Ritual Casting; Specialty: Slowing & Knocking Prone; Skills: Arcana, Diplomacy, History, Insight, Religion
Oct 28, 2011 12:36 AM - Pbren : Bam got a striker.
Oct 26, 2011 10:58 PM - John McCullough: You're gonna want a striker. Don't neglect combat abilities OR skills. Your party should be balanced both in and out of combat.
Oct 26, 2011 5:50 PM - Capt_Dan: Happy to take any thoughts from others - still think extra defender and 2 leaders (one striker-y and one very heal-y...) and a controller.
Oct 26, 2011 5:48 PM - Capt_Dan: Okay, for reference for others - Human/Warden/Lifepirit - S18,C13,D10,I10,W16,C9 -Dung 8, End 5, Heal 8, Nat 8 Per 8 - Resilient Focus (I predict saving throws!) Imp Defenses
Oct 26, 2011 10:52 AM - Capt_Dan: Here's a thought, I don't even know if we need a striker for this - 2 defenders, 2 leaders and a controller should see us right
Oct 26, 2011 10:45 AM - Capt_Dan: Very happy to work towards synergies, I think the thing to remeber is that it is not about hard combat, so much as vicous dungeon traps...
Oct 26, 2011 10:37 AM - James L: I cant make Sunday, wife made family plans for us.
Oct 26, 2011 10:35 AM - Tracy: Seeing as how this is 'hard mode' does anyone want to try to synergize? I'm not adamant on bladesinger, but I'd like to play a controller. Let's put our heads together so John doesn't take a lawn mower to us. :)
Oct 24, 2011 10:08 AM - Jensen: I could do Saturday
Oct 23, 2011 5:47 PM - Capt_Dan: I agree with Rob; just took a passing body blow this morning on this topic...
Oct 23, 2011 4:58 PM - Rob R: Don't do it James. That's almost always a trap. It's the big set-up.
Oct 23, 2011 8:02 AM - Capt_Dan: I have to leave this at the moment for Gardmore... pity
Oct 21, 2011 2:22 PM - Jensen: I cant wait!!! I'm 90% sure I can do this
Oct 21, 2011 1:23 PM - John McCullough: Curses! My wife takes classes on the weekends, so that's when I'm most free at the moment.
Oct 21, 2011 1:07 PM - Capt_Dan: 'demands'. I feel your pain.
Oct 21, 2011 12:08 PM - John McCullough: This can be played in one four-hour session, but I'm blocking out 8 hours so if the party wishes to take a second run through the dungeon we'll have time for that. Everyone should make two level 1 characters.
