Level: 16

First Session: Saturday -- January 28th, 2012 -- 11:00 AM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 1 session

Nominated for ENnie award for best free product.

Fourthcore adventure meant to be like a delve. Players should hopefully complete it in a timed 3-5 hour session. These are meant to be rediculously difficult and challenging. Meaning you die, and try again, repeat until the time is up.Link to What is Fourthcore?

You and your companions have traveled to the Netherworld to stead the Tomb of the Iron Lich. The traps, tricks, and guardians that ward the Tomb are as lethal as they are numerous, so only the most skilled, courageous, and well-armed parties should dare enter.

The pregens on the fourthcore site are recommended for players who get too attached to their characters, because he/she will probably die.Adventure site

Jan 27, 2012 9:53 PM - Tracy: I'll replace acrobatics with Heal...my wisdon is good and I took the feat that lets me treat rolls of 2-7 on athletics and acrobatics as an 8.
Jan 27, 2012 9:52 PM - John McCullough: Someone should pick up Heal... my wisdom is in the tank

Jan 27, 2012 1:20 PM - Jensen: still follow the house rules on picking rituals. so at level 16 you will have 17 rituals 2 at 1st level and 1 at every other level.
Jan 27, 2012 1:15 PM - Jensen: Ritual users: For this adventure rituals are done differently. 1) No rituals over 1 hour in length are permitted. 2)Rituals with a casting time of an

 Any other ritual may be cast once
per milestone.
Jan 27, 2012 12:11 PM - Tracy: Nature, Arcana, Athletics, Perception (but I could replace Perception or Arcana for Heal, Insight, or History)
Jan 27, 2012 1:10 AM - John McCullough: Alright, I'm making a Bard/Rogue/Jack of All Trades. Please take this quick survey to show which skills you are trained in so I can dump my feats and trainings in the right areas. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XD2FJFD
Jan 26, 2012 12:44 PM - Kenny P: Max, the place is just past the W Hotel, between the deli and Hotel Edision. If memory serves, there's a sign next to the door that says "Box Office Group Sales"
Jan 26, 2012 11:24 AM - Jason P.: It's awesome for players, and people are more than welcome to enjoy it in their homes games. But it makes DMs have to put in extra time and effort trying to counter these tactics. The campaign games want to focus more on stories and challenging combats. I may not agree with all the rules (I really don't), but I respect what they are trying to do.
Jan 26, 2012 11:22 AM - Jason P.: Hey Brian. To maybe give a better answer than "those are the rules", 4e has been out about four years now, and alot of us have a good sense of what is baseline for good characters and what's overpowered or broken. A feat like Deft Blade (which was in PHB1 for PCs without a lot of basic attacks) combined with an essentials character makes it so that they almost consistently hit on a 2. They can't miss. That's broken.
Jan 26, 2012 11:20 AM - Jensen: it is right by the W hotel. Yes this is in NYC in Times Square
Jan 26, 2012 11:12 AM - Jensen: 3 common and 1 uncommon magic item. And yes Deft Blade is not allowed. I assure you your character will be fine with those magic items. Also, please read on what fourth Core is. fourth core isn't centered around combat.
Jan 26, 2012 11:08 AM - M Maximus: Is this location in nyc? Google maps has this like right at the W hotel??
Jan 26, 2012 11:06 AM - Jensen: We are playing at this address: 226 W. 47th Suite 901 Grahams Wife's office
Jan 26, 2012 10:37 AM - Ross H: I'm not in this game, but just going to jump in to try to head off this conversation: the house rules are the house rules. This is not LFR, and the house rules are set the way they are to keep everyone on the same page and keep things simple & balanced - whether or not you like them, them's the rules. Believe me when I say it's not a productive conversation to have right now.
Jan 26, 2012 10:18 AM - M Maximus: Ps... Where are we playing? What is ancient library?
Jan 26, 2012 10:16 AM - M Maximus: Regarding house rules... So, my level 16 LFR thief can't use the magic items he collected from lv1 to lv16? Like stone of earth, gloves of ice, maurader's leather armor, horned helm? Expecting a lv16 character to have only 4 magic items and only 1 of them uncommon is crazy. And deft blade nerfed as well? How is that feat overpowered?
Jan 25, 2012 11:29 AM - Jensen: No themes. RPG connect house rules for this
Jan 24, 2012 1:55 PM - Kenny P: Looking forward to it!
btw, are character themes allowed?
Jan 24, 2012 10:47 AM - Jensen: Make sure to equip yourselves with all necessary equipment. Use house rules for equipment and money. get that sunrod, thieves kit, bedroll, maybe a winter coat? camo? or a bottle of wine. dont forget your 1 potion! But whatever it is you're all working together and can plan together. The fate of the Realm is in your 5 hands. So don't trip
Jan 24, 2012 10:42 AM - Jensen: Hello all, so make sure to bring 2 different characters to the game. They can be the same type or completely different. If you get vanquished you can bring the other character into play.
Dec 30, 2011 4:31 PM - M Maximus: I can play the 25th, so I'm in
Dec 29, 2011 6:27 PM - Jensen: I could possibly run this Saturday February 4th if more people can play that day. let me know.
Dec 29, 2011 6:23 PM - Jensen: Its open for people to join till Jan. 25th
Dec 29, 2011 6:18 PM - Jensen: Hey guys, Sorry but going to have to put this one on hold for a little bit later in the month.
Dec 28, 2011 1:44 PM - Kenny P: I'll bring two as well, and stick with the same party role to minimize redundancy. (another striker, changeling rogue I think)
Dec 28, 2011 1:11 PM - Tracy: I'm bringing 2 characters. In the other 4th core, once you die (and you will die) you can take a time penalty to bring in reinforcements. (if this isn't the same) than after we fail our first time through, I'll use the 2nd character for the next run.
Dec 28, 2011 1:09 PM - Tracy: Good call, Jensen unlock please. :)
Dec 28, 2011 1:04 PM - Xerek: I'll second that, I'm interested but can't sign up anymore
Dec 28, 2011 12:55 PM - thekraftykat: Hey, it looks like you could use another person. I'm interested if there's room. Email me if it's ok to join in the fun (thekraftykat@gmail.com). :)
Dec 27, 2011 10:26 PM - Tracy: lol, have as much fun as you can come up with. Forget optimization in this as it won't matter when you come up to a 4 sided pillar with 4 of the same portraits on each side but in different different colors and you have 3 tries to pull the 4 correct pictures without any clues. lol
Dec 27, 2011 10:23 PM - Kenny P: Okay, that's a relief. I was worried I had to sacrifice fun options for pure optimization.
Dec 27, 2011 10:18 PM - Tracy: The good news is, it isn't 1 long encounter. lol
Dec 27, 2011 10:16 PM - Tracy: Hey buddy, I asked about this and here is my response...

Lair assault is completely different as its designed to be optimized for power gamers. 4th core is more like 2.0 where it really doesn't matter what your build is or how many crazy items you have. Listen to the block text and ask a 1000 questions. It's all about being creative and using player knowledge to overcome challenges. Don't worry about who you are or what you are wearing.

I played a different 4thcore game and I agree. :)
Dec 27, 2011 10:07 PM - Kenny P: From the look of it, Fourthcore sounds a lot like Lair Assault. Will we be using the same rules we did with Dawn Titan? (ie magic items, money, maybe even fortune cards?)

@Tracy are you bringing a hybrid or two characters?
Dec 21, 2011 11:37 PM - Jason P.: I'm going to leave the committed list to see if one of my home games gets started up. If not, I'll be back!
Dec 19, 2011 2:50 PM - M Maximus: Would love to do this; however, I'm not in town that weekend :(
Dec 19, 2011 1:16 AM - Tracy: Sweet!
Dec 19, 2011 1:08 AM - Kenny P: Jumpin' aboard!
Dec 18, 2011 9:16 PM - Rob P: didnt realize i got back on the list, got a friends grad party that day. good luck guys!
Dec 18, 2011 7:57 PM - Capt_Dan: Another sacrifice to the Abbey...
Nov 5, 2011 2:46 PM - Rob P: sweet thanx!
Nov 5, 2011 12:57 PM - Jensen: yes
Nov 4, 2011 9:43 PM - Rob P: should i have two characters ready for this 4th core as well?
