D&D Encounters 7 - Beyond the Crystal Cave
Cost: $0.00
Level: 1

First Session: Monday -- March 26th, 2012 -- 7:00 PM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 3 sessions

Description:
This is the 7th season of D&D Encounters. Released to support the Heroes of the Feywild Campaign Setting. "These Encounters adventures have been completely awesome so far." They are meant to start off level 1 characters. There were meant to be 13, 60 minute sessions. That means they can probably be finished in 3 sessions.

Out of important components in the original adventure, Steven Townsend wove a true homage to UK1 with wonderful Feywild elements and hints of A Midsummer Night's Dream. He also had to come up with a story that, unlike the original, involved tangible villains and other interesting actors.

When monsters threaten the placid village of Crystalbrook, it’s up to adventurers to track down where they’re coming from. Their investigation will lead them on a journey across planes. In the Feywild, the heroes must explore an enchanted island garden and unravel the plot of a foul hag, before she and her fiendish companion can perform a ritual to seize control of the island.

It would be best if everyone played races and classes from Heroes of the Feywild. Some Pregens are here

Fey "Themes" are permitted and encouraged.

May 30, 2012 5:08 PM - Tracy: Damn Matt - I want to play Tyrant Claw or the Ocean's 11 one! Keep trying to post it. :)
Apr 10, 2012 1:06 PM - Rob R: Thanks everyone for a fun time. Davis is somewhere in Hevasta frolicking in the glade looking for nymphs, humans and elves.
Apr 10, 2012 12:59 PM - Rob R: @ James, please don't encourage people to do things outside the framework established by the RPGA. They're set up to help keep things working smoothly and have consistentcy between players. You of all people should understand that : )
Apr 10, 2012 12:56 PM - Rob R: @ Kent, "documentation" would be something like a story award or other official document that would be accounted for in the encounters season. So unless there exists something along those lines...
Apr 10, 2012 10:55 AM - James L: Thanks Matt, that was a great game.
Apr 10, 2012 10:29 AM - James L: Kent, no need to sign anything, just keep your character, he's valid, no one reports things to the RPGA anymore.
Apr 10, 2012 10:22 AM - kentmagus: So I looked up D&D Encounters rules and LFR rules. Apparently, yes, they can be transferred as courtesy from Encounters to FR, at least for Beyond the Crystal Cave. However, the LFR rules say that the alternative rewards need documentation. Also, one can only keep three magic items. So Matt, if you can sign documents that say we can keep our fey gifts and wishes that would be cool.
Apr 3, 2012 10:13 AM - Matt H: My favorite thing about Basal is that he'll basically agree to any stipulations for the combat that you want -- no action points, no encounter powers, no ranged attacks...he don't care. Also, if you've got high enough Passive Perception scores you can catch glimpses of him moving toward the island during your fight with the Pixie Wind Mage and the Water Elementals...good stuff.
Apr 3, 2012 9:29 AM - James L: I like the setup of the hunter Basil, then we got to meet him, and he was just sitting there all baddass ready to kill Orlando.
Apr 3, 2012 9:27 AM - James L: I really dig this adventure. All the nice touches are great! The leprechauns rhyme, the description of the dryad Uma was really good, the story totally captures A Midsummer Night's Dream. All the details are great. The pranks. It is the most fitting feywild adventure I;ve seen.
Apr 2, 2012 5:47 PM - Matt H: Thanks for the heads up Rob -- I had forgotten that you said that last week.

Let's still start on time at 7pm, and you can swoop in and save the day from the pending TPK...
Apr 2, 2012 5:43 PM - Rob R: Reminder that I will probably be ~ 30 minutes late tonight
Mar 30, 2012 1:24 PM - Tracy: Rawr! Headman's Chop to keep em down & dead and Agile Recovery to prevent a taste of my own medicine.
Mar 30, 2012 1:14 PM - James L: I'll show those damn Leprechauns who's boss. Now that I have attained true ultimate power!
Mar 30, 2012 1:12 PM - Matt H: Hell yes, you did. And that Feat and Utility Power will make you stronger than Soryth can possibly imagine...
Mar 30, 2012 1:04 PM - James L: Did I hear it right? that we leveled up to level 2?
Mar 28, 2012 1:20 PM - Tracy: Wow...voting comes up quick now. I like it.
Mar 26, 2012 10:15 AM - Matt H: If we're going to get through this in three sessions, we're going to need to start promptly and run at a good clip. Happy to play it by ear, but a 7:00 start would be a good step in the right direction.
Mar 25, 2012 9:00 PM - kentmagus: So many Unseelie Agents... I'm feeling kind of outnumbered here.
Mar 21, 2012 12:47 PM - Rob R: Decided to go with a human Satyr.
Mar 17, 2012 4:46 PM - Vlad: Going with Wilden Scout / Unseelie Agent
Mar 17, 2012 2:25 PM - Matt H: Also: Even Backgrounds matter! Please make a note if you take the Crystalbrooker (Human settlement) Sildaine (Fey forest) or Sybaran (trade city) backgrounds, as your connections and affinities may influence how events unfold...
Mar 17, 2012 1:44 PM - Rob R: Thinking of a Satyr Skald now but i am picking up my copy of Heroes of the Elemental Chaos so I might switch again .... so many classes, so few games
Mar 16, 2012 12:29 PM - Rob R: I've seen enough fay beast tamers to last a lifetime.
Mar 16, 2012 11:37 AM - James L: There's only 4 Themes in the Feywild book, but there's more in this Dragon article http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/dra/201111bornfeywild
Mar 16, 2012 10:51 AM - Matt H: Also: please post what theme you're taking, if any. Reports from other playgroups have suggested that there's a tendency to run into problems if everybody has multiple pets on the map (Owlbears and Sidhe House Guards and such). Fey Beast Tamers and Sidhe Lords are still fair game, but it might get messy if everybody ended up with the same theme.
Mar 16, 2012 10:30 AM - James L: I must say an Eladrin Skald is a force to be reckoned with.
Mar 16, 2012 10:18 AM - Ross H: Definitely interested, but also feeling slightly overcommitted right now...
Mar 16, 2012 9:25 AM - James L: this is going to be awesome
Mar 15, 2012 5:02 PM - Matt H: This will use Essentials Only - Fast Play Rules, with the additional inclusion of Fey themes.
