Fane of the Drow - 4E
Cost: $0.00
Level: 11

First Session: Wednesday -- August 8th, 2012 -- 6:30 PM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 3 sessions

Fantastic Locations: Fane of the Drow features two double-sided poster maps designed for roleplaying and miniatures skirmish play. An accompanying 16-page adventure can be dropped into any campaign. Enemies consist of creatures from various D&D miniatures. Miniatures skirmish scenarios are included for additional play options, written to allow Dungeon Masters to seamlessly integrate D&D Miniatures into the adventure. The two poster maps, which are scaled for tabletop play, can be put together to form the temple of the drow, while the reverse sides feature other fantastic dungeon locations players can explore.

Aug 30, 2012 3:35 PM - Mat T: Great game everyone. :) I had a ton of fun.
Aug 29, 2012 11:40 PM - Rob R: Also, you guys earned every bit of that buttwhipping you laid on the drow. There were no freebies from me. The combats you were not built for I ran as is and conversely, the ones you were perfect for (especially that last combat) I left as is.
Aug 29, 2012 11:38 PM - Rob R: I'm glad you all enjoyed it. Running it a second time made the time I put in converting worthwhile.
Aug 29, 2012 4:49 PM - Nileoc: It was a lot of fun. Enjoyed myself and learned a bit. Thanks man.
Aug 29, 2012 9:15 AM - Tommy T: Thank you very much, Rob. I had a blast. Very awesome conversion.
Aug 29, 2012 8:29 AM - AVacc: Rob - Loved every second. thanks much and well done!
Aug 29, 2012 8:24 AM - kentmagus: Quotes:
"No, we're -giving- you the eladrin" The human mage.

"I've learned my lesson about chasing drow down dark hallways. " Next dark hallway, the eladrin takes off in a dark room down a dark tunnel which he can't see.

"That's the second time you've done that. " To the paladin triggering an attack from an enemy by moving adjacent.

"I need an adult!" The paladin's response to being seduced by a very appealing dark elf female.

Aug 27, 2012 3:28 PM - kentmagus: 1.I checked the rule for charge. It says, move, melee basic attack, etc. The important part is that after the MBA, one can take no further actions, barring free actions. Bladespells are no action. Thus, bladespells work on charge.

2. I'm all for playing it by ear, so good for another week if needed.
Aug 27, 2012 1:58 PM - AVacc: I am good for another week, if needed.
Aug 27, 2012 1:56 PM - Rob R: We might be able to finish up this week. Or alternately, we can finish up this week if everyone has a problem extending by a week.
Aug 26, 2012 10:46 PM - Mat T: Are we still thinking this might take an extra week, or are we finishing up this time?
Aug 24, 2012 6:05 PM - Nileoc: I worship Bahamut and haven't died. Coincidence? I think NOT.
...In other news, I'd like the game to be Tuesday as well.
Aug 24, 2012 5:47 PM - Mat T: Tuesday or Thursday is fine with me too. And as for the death, it happens. At least he went down fighting, as befits a cleric of Kord!

I'll still bring a second character, just in case.
Aug 24, 2012 2:52 PM - Tommy T: I'm pretty good with Tuesday or Thursday. Weekend isn't good though.
Aug 24, 2012 12:49 PM - Rob R: And thanks Mat for handling that like a champ. Attacking an unconscious pc is one of the worst things to do - I've only done it four times in 4e (And it actually failed to kill the PC one of them). Sometimes the story or situation just calls for it.
Aug 24, 2012 12:47 PM - Rob R: Seriously, though the cleric CAN be raised. There will be multiple options some more appealing than others. I've already accounted for pc death and how it will be handled. This is a hard adventure by design with a couple of different approaches - though most of them do require hand to hand "negotiations"
Aug 24, 2012 12:45 PM - Rob R: Does the cleric wear any clothes under the magical armor? On second thought, don't answer that.
Aug 24, 2012 12:21 PM - kentmagus: Also, I think we can afford to raise the cleric, if we sell off his magical equipment.
Aug 24, 2012 12:20 PM - kentmagus: Tuesday or Thursday is okay for next week. I vote for Tuesday if it's going to be ongoing.
Aug 24, 2012 10:16 AM - AVacc: Tuesday or Thursday are good for me. I can't do Friday or the weekend.
Aug 24, 2012 10:14 AM - Rob R: So as we discussed last session, I can't do Wednesday next week (or Monday). I can do Tues and Thurs and am also willing to come in Saturday if that's the groups best day.
Aug 22, 2012 6:16 PM - AVacc: I got a table in the back and I am sure we're playing tonight
Aug 22, 2012 3:05 PM - AVacc: Are you questioning my commitment to the party?
Aug 22, 2012 3:04 PM - Rob R: Have you even left since yesterday evening. ; )
Aug 22, 2012 2:58 PM - AVacc: I should be able to get there a little early to get a table.
Aug 22, 2012 2:54 PM - Rob R: Even though there is no rain, I will be leaving work a little early today so as too not run late. I also have my maps w/ me. (The causes of my running late last 2 times). If anyone gets there earlier than me, I really digged the bigger round tables in the back.
Aug 19, 2012 4:28 PM - kentmagus: The dragonborn paladin breathed fire at me and missed. That's why the bladesinger had only nine points of damage. Nothing to do with the monsters.
Aug 16, 2012 12:05 PM - Tommy T: Having a blast so far, Rob. Thanks. Can't wait for next session.
Aug 15, 2012 7:09 PM - kentmagus: Hey, Rob. Everybody's here. I hope the train's alright whenever you get this.
Aug 15, 2012 10:17 AM - Rob R: Mea Culpa, while I did get the dim rules correct (in the context of the power), I misread the damage benefit. It read "double the ONGOING damage." I missed that multiple times, not only at the table but also at home. Even though it seemed overpowered the way I read it (thus the multiple readings), it kinda was inline with new way lurkers are built. So that was why I must have glossed over the nuances. My Bad.
Aug 10, 2012 11:30 AM - Rob R: I'm going to review the dim light / hidden rules a little more closely - too make sure everything was kosher.
Aug 10, 2012 11:29 AM - Rob R: We're going with the Mage (one way or the other - too cool a concept to not see in action). Plus even dead you still saved the parties bacon.
Aug 9, 2012 9:43 PM - Tommy T: Hey, Rob, do you want me to roll a new character or were there plans to resurrect my mage? I'm fine with either.
Aug 8, 2012 6:16 PM - kentmagus: Never mind.. I see you guys now:P
Aug 8, 2012 6:15 PM - kentmagus: We are still meeting at Citicenter, correct?
Aug 8, 2012 1:06 PM - Rob R: and at least noone brought a Drow on a Drow-hunt ; )
Aug 8, 2012 1:05 PM - Rob R: Nice choice (and better introduction)
Aug 8, 2012 10:47 AM - AVacc: To be perfectly honest, when I picked a dragonborn it was because I had never played one - I did not realize there were others in the party :) It should be a fun dynamic - Perhaps we can actually get a little RP in :))
Aug 8, 2012 10:42 AM - AVacc: The Dragonborn will smite the drow for their dishonorable ways.
Aug 8, 2012 12:37 AM - Nileoc: I'm imagining "The enemy is slid 3...The enemy is slid 2 more...The enemy has been slid out of combat.."
Aug 8, 2012 12:35 AM - Nileoc: Another Dragonborn? I'm a fan, and the party is looking a lot more solid, though to be honest I kind've wanted to see what combat would've been like..
Aug 8, 2012 12:13 AM - AVacc: Out of the mists appears and imposing Dragonborn. As the sun gleams off his greataxe you feel a chill down your spine. Shamash the slayer greets you with a voice that sounds like gravel being crushed and a smile that could melt the herald off your shield.
Aug 7, 2012 11:52 PM - Capt_Dan: Yeah, but you could totally get the Monsters to stage an impromptu performance of Swan Lake...
Aug 7, 2012 10:47 PM - Tracy: OMG, I was just looking at this party build like...3 controllers! Bladesingers have striker potential for a couple rounds, however - combats are going to take forever. :p
Aug 7, 2012 6:08 PM - Rob R: Your call. BUT, if you were looking to create a different PC that fills more of a need, a Fighter wouldn't be it. Unless you were thinking Slayer (Fighter). Definately, a striker is what is missing in this group. But, again, your call.
Aug 7, 2012 5:31 PM - AVacc: Do we need something else in the mix? I can create a different character. We seem to have the magic covered :) - Dwarf Fighter, perhaps?
Aug 6, 2012 8:21 PM - Mat T: Nope, I made a strength cleric, with a 2 handed simple weapon, which gives some of the newer strength cleric powers added damage (or other riders). Not necessarily a super awesome healer, but he's got some attack/damage boosts mixed in as well.
Aug 6, 2012 12:35 PM - AVacc: I am mostly damage - but I am having a hard time fitting two campaigns into my schedule... I should be OK but I am sure that I will have a problem on the 15th at least - I am in the glorious hunt game.
Aug 6, 2012 10:35 AM - Rob R: So far example, Mat if you cleric is a pacifist cleric, that might be a problem with this group. You'll keep everyone up but as someone who wouldn't be able to damage bloodied creatures, it'll be that much harder to end fights.
Aug 6, 2012 10:33 AM - Rob R: I'm a big fan of everyone playing what you want. I just wanted to highlight that you have no strikers and everyone should kinda make sure they PCs have a way to assist in putting out the damage. I only mention the bladesinger and evoker cause I believe those have a little more damage potential than the illusionist.
Aug 5, 2012 4:50 PM - kentmagus: Technically, I can be a striker for 2 rounds!
Aug 5, 2012 4:43 PM - Nileoc: Yeah, I don't know what's gonna happen. I do have Lay on Hands and can give a +5 saving throw on top of my defender role if you want to change from a healer Mat.Or being that I'm the only between the enemies and the back row, maybe one of the mage's wants to go striker.
Aug 5, 2012 12:26 PM - Mat T: I was kinda thinking the same thing about strikers. I tried to balance my cleric between healing/protection and damage/damage boosting, but there's only so much to work with there for a cleric ;)
Aug 5, 2012 11:14 AM - Rob R: I'm really excited to run this again. I found my folder with notes (& monsters) from my first running.
Aug 5, 2012 11:12 AM - Rob R: BTW, reading a dnd novel -Rouge Dragons - right now which has a bladespell winged elf in it. It does a nice job describing his actions in combat - it really ties in with the mechanics in the game.
Aug 5, 2012 11:11 AM - Rob R: As you can see I'm obviously worried about the lack of strikers and damage. It might take lllooonnnggggg to end combats.
Aug 5, 2012 11:10 AM - Rob R: Also, a bladesinger does decent damage with their bladespell? Might want to make sure you focus a little on attacking as opposed to too much defense.
Aug 5, 2012 11:07 AM - Rob R: Little concerned with the party composition of 3 controllers. AVacc - your evocation mage is more about damage than control?
Jul 30, 2012 11:01 AM - Capt_Dan: I would really love to play in this... not sure if I can have two games a week though, and Giants has a little way left yet...
Jul 30, 2012 10:30 AM - Rob R: OK, I've heard no objections so I will shift the schedule back a week - first game is now Aug 8th.
Jul 27, 2012 11:46 AM - Rob R: Showing up a late isn't a deal-breaker.
Jul 27, 2012 11:25 AM - AVacc: I will likely be late on the 15th - if that seems like an issue I can back out - let me know. (although I really want to play this :)))
Jul 27, 2012 11:21 AM - Tommy T: Everything is good on my end. This new date actually works better. Looking forward to this.
Jul 27, 2012 9:17 AM - Rob R: So to clarify, as long as there are no objecttions (and we have 4), the first session will be Wednesday Aug 8th
Jul 27, 2012 9:16 AM - Rob R: Also, Tommy, can you give a shout. You were originally RSVPed for the Saturday run and when I switch dates, your RSVP is carried over by the system
Jul 27, 2012 9:14 AM - Rob R: OK, since it looks like the others have no days thay can't do, let's push it back a week.
Jul 26, 2012 11:40 PM - Matt H: Have you decided yet if you're starting this Wednesday or pushing it back a week? (I'd join for the 8th onward, but can't make 8/1.) Looks like you've got a table, so no worries either way.
Jul 26, 2012 7:27 PM - Rob R: Basic PHB / Essentials Gods
Jul 26, 2012 12:49 PM - Mat T: Hey Rob, in case I decide to pick a divine character, what setting are you running this under? Basic PHB, FR, something else?
Jul 23, 2012 11:32 AM - Matt H: This would be great. Pretty sure my only Wednesday/Thursday conflicts relate to those pesky Fire Giants.
Jul 23, 2012 11:27 AM - Rob R: I can substitute last week in Aug for first week of Aug
Jul 23, 2012 11:24 AM - Rob R: How about 4 weedays in Aug (combo of Wednesdays / Thursdays depending on the WotBS campaign)?
Jul 22, 2012 5:23 PM - Capt_Dan: Where are we with this - I'm still trying to work out what I can/can't play, but weekends are usually very difficult for me.
Jul 18, 2012 9:51 AM - Rob R: I am flexible to do this weeknights - but it would be more likely 4 or maybe 5 nights.
Jul 17, 2012 3:00 PM - Capt_Dan: Me three. Love to play, but weekends are difficult.
Jul 17, 2012 2:08 PM - Ross H: Agreed with James, if this could happen on weeknights in the next couple months, then I'd join in.
Jul 17, 2012 2:06 PM - James L: flexible enough to do this on three weeknights?
Jun 28, 2012 1:47 PM - Rob P: Im flexible
Jun 27, 2012 1:17 PM - Rob R: How's later in July or Aug?
Jun 26, 2012 8:20 AM - Rob R: I will probably have to push this back.
Jun 24, 2012 5:55 PM - Rob R: Thanks for the kind words.
Jun 22, 2012 7:43 PM - Xerek: And he did a great job with the conversion! you should totally check it out!
Jun 20, 2012 2:20 PM - Rob R: I ran this back in February and just need to collect my notes & tweak some of the combats.
Jun 20, 2012 2:19 PM - Rob R: At first there were a few isolated attacks but the Drow have stepped up their incursions. The Dwarves ask you to travel to the mining area with a reinforced Dwarven War Party and put an end to the evil Drow. They await their first responses.....
Jun 20, 2012 2:19 PM - Rob R: The Dwarves of Stonehelm have reached out through their contacts and summoned various adventurers. Their farthest-ranging miners have recently encountered Drow & Goblin raiders.
Jun 20, 2012 2:19 PM - Rob R: Sign up and face off against "Everyone's" Favorite Villains. I converted this from 3.5. The maps are large and beautiful. Well suited to 4e's bigger battle spaces.
Jun 20, 2012 1:58 PM - Rob R: Looking to run this again. It should take 3 sessions. I am tentatively scheduling this now. I do have some flexability.
