Red Hand of Doom - Part 5
Cost: $0.00
Level: 11

First Session: Saturday -- October 20th, 2012 -- 11:30 AM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 5-6 sessions

Description:
THE FINALE! One of the best adventures, ever told. See why 4th edition is set in the Nentir Vale.

Who Can Stand Against the Son of the Dragon?

The Wyrmsmoke Mountains shook with the thunder of ten thousand screaming hobgoblin soldiers. From the phalanx emerged a single champion. One by one the tribes fell silent as the warlord rose up, red scales gleaming along his shoulders, horns swept back from his head. A hundred bright yellow banners stood beneath him, each marked with a great red hand. He stood upon a precipice and raised his arms. “I am Azarr Kul, Son of the Dragon!” the warlord bellowed. “Hear me! Tomorrow we march to war!”

Confronted with the relentless advance of Azurr Kul’s horde, the characters must undertake vital missions to influence the outcome of the war. Can they shatter the armies of the enemy, or will Azarr Kul’s dreams rain destruction upon the human lands?

Dec 28, 2012 10:16 PM - SofaKing: when are we playing again?
Dec 13, 2012 12:10 PM - Paul: Tracy, just to clarify, we are not on for either this Saturday or this Sunday (December 15 and 16), correct?
Dec 11, 2012 5:16 PM - Kenny P: Yay, I'm free this Sunday. Or are we not doing that day?
Dec 7, 2012 5:21 PM - Paul: I myself will be out of town on the 22nd with family for the Christmas holidays.
Dec 7, 2012 5:19 PM - Xerek: That's awfully close to christmas. I'd prefer to be here and be avilable, but I couldn't committ at this point.
Dec 7, 2012 5:13 PM - Tracy: Hmmm...what about the 22nd?
Dec 7, 2012 11:13 AM - Rob P: Sunday is my other campaign. I would post pone it but i am already canceling on them this week because of my nieces baptism.
Dec 5, 2012 3:53 PM - Paul: I am fine for Sunday, December 16th.
Dec 5, 2012 9:29 AM - Tracy: *Brakes Screeching....Crash*

Just found out we have a work Christmas Party on Saturday. Can we do Sunday the 16th?
Dec 3, 2012 2:59 PM - Tracy: Next time on Red Hand...

The forces of Azur Kul break against the heroic defense led by the Evernasties. Lord Jarmath barely survives thanks to the devoted care bestowed by his clerics. Scouts follow the redhands retreat and have located their fall back position...and discovered the location of Azur Kul's hidden base. Will the Evernasties dare take the fight direct to Azur Kul? What horrors await them in his mountain citadel? Will their paragon paths be enough? Find out next time.
Dec 3, 2012 2:23 PM - Xerek: I'll second what Paul said.
Dec 3, 2012 2:07 PM - Paul: My notes indicate that our next and final gaming session is on Saturday, December 15th, from Noon to 8pm (double session).
Dec 3, 2012 2:06 PM - Rob P: So to refresh my memory, this saturday we are not gaming. Also Sunday is out because of my niece's baptism. Are we playing the following saturday?
Dec 1, 2012 11:47 AM - Xerek: I guess we won't be starting at noon since no ones here ;)
Nov 30, 2012 7:02 PM - Tracy: Just show up with what you brought to the table last time. :) I'll take care of the rest. :) We only have 2 encounters to go so you should be done at a relatively good time assuming we start on time. Also, I think we will complete this in 1 double session after tomorrow! *weep*
Nov 30, 2012 7:11 AM - Xerek: What should we bring? anything extra or just lvl? chars?
Nov 28, 2012 3:59 PM - Tracy: If we start at noon, we'll be able to get through the Battle of Brindol. :) See you all then.
Nov 28, 2012 1:50 PM - Xerek: I no longer have a conflict at the beginning of the game, but I'm perfectly okay with someone running Herr Weiss for the last bit. I don't want to mess everything up because I forgot about my concert.
Nov 28, 2012 11:51 AM - Rob P: What time are we going to meet so we can stop by 6?
Nov 25, 2012 9:38 PM - Xerek: I'm in a choir, and we're doing our Christmas concert that night. In case you're interested: http://www.facebook.com/events/349884561773458/
Nov 25, 2012 9:25 PM - Kenny P: Concert? Performing? Do tell!
Nov 25, 2012 9:11 PM - Xerek: I also just realized that I have a concert that night that I'm performing in: So I will need to leave around 6-ish.
Nov 24, 2012 5:48 PM - Xerek: Dec 1st at noon. I may be 10 min late though.
Nov 24, 2012 4:25 PM - Rob P: So to refresh my memory, the next meetup is when?
Nov 17, 2012 1:17 AM - SofaKing: So nothing is going on tomorrow?
Nov 16, 2012 1:30 PM - Kenny P: You do enough already! Get you gone and rest!
Nov 16, 2012 12:35 PM - Tracy: I was waiting to post something for Saturday to see if I would have any prep time to do so. Alas, I have not...
Nov 13, 2012 10:35 PM - Tracy: Okee Dokee. I was really curious to see what Torpedo would bring to the table. lol
Nov 13, 2012 10:11 PM - Paul: Yes. A dick move. Here is the Urban Dictionary definition of "Dick Move," which a few years ago was the Word of the Day, for your enjoyment: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=dick%20move
Nov 13, 2012 10:04 PM - Kenny P: No, it's fine. At this point, bumping anyone off that other game would be a dick move, and besides, I only joined in because T.Michael had to leave and Rob wasn't responding. It's enough that I already get to game with you guys. :D
Nov 11, 2012 12:34 PM - Kenny P: Apparently I'm late, I'm late for A very important game!

I thought the games at 1. Anyhail in a few blocks away.
Nov 11, 2012 12:27 PM - Tracy: Tick tock
Nov 11, 2012 12:20 PM - Tracy: Should be noon, no one is here.
Nov 11, 2012 10:00 AM - Xerek: When are we starting today?
Nov 10, 2012 8:32 PM - Kenny P: Errr, I have a Elf Ranger from Tiri Kitor. Is there another elf I don't know about?
Nov 10, 2012 8:24 PM - Xerek: So did you ever find a car?
Nov 10, 2012 8:22 PM - Tracy: Ha! Love the party turmoil. Also, if I'm a little late blame the veterans. I've got 1,000 lunches to deliver for the veterans marching in the parade tomorrow. My final drop off is scheduled for 10:45 so I don't anticipate being late (if everything goes according to plan), but there is a small chance.
Nov 10, 2012 8:16 PM - Rob P: My elf mind controlly mage will be ready. Also i think zidane is going to go to abraxus for advice. He has saved zidanes life onnumerious occasions and i think it will make things even more interesting if both dio and abraxus have to try to convince zidane to help one or the other : P
Nov 10, 2012 8:13 PM - Tracy: Also, there is a slight chance this may go to 9 so be sure to plan accordingly. Know your bitches so we can try to keep combat moving. Try to avoid immediate reaction/interrupt powers to keep the flow...well flowing.
Nov 10, 2012 7:33 PM - Xerek: I totally gave my bitch a horn of finding ale. He's serious about his drink.
Nov 10, 2012 7:32 PM - Tracy: Remember to follow standard character creation rules for your bitches, but you can also give them items you own you are no longer using. THIS IS NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. If you select an item for your bitch your PC cannot receive this item via trade. ;)
Nov 10, 2012 7:05 PM - Tracy: OMG I'm so excited for tomorrow! This is what the Tier system is all about. You are fighting to save an entire nation. The fate of the Elsir Vale rests on your heroic heads. Can you successfully fight off the mighty forces of Azarr Kul as they march on Brindol? Will you fight triumphantly to achieve your Paragon status? How will you save the Elsir Vale and stem the flow of tens of thousands? Tomorrow we'll answer this and so much more! Good Luck.
Nov 10, 2012 12:55 AM - Xerek: I claim the Dwarf Warlord. He'll drink you under the table and make you his bitch (so please, have good MBAs)
Nov 9, 2012 9:51 PM - Paul: That's ok....I enjoy taking notes for a campaign like this one with such a great storyline; as you have said many times, one of the best ever written! See y'all on Sunday.
Nov 9, 2012 9:44 PM - Tracy: I'm half inclined to let Paul level up to 16 just due to his diligent note taking...

Fortunately that is not the case due to balance issues. However, who here can post your support that you gained and what figures do you need if you don't have your own.
Nov 9, 2012 9:31 PM - Paul: Lest I forget, Diosporos has made a deal with Lord Jarmaath's arch-adversary Veraasa Kaal, to help her usurp his power by assassinating the good Lord Jarmaath, in exchange for the monetary and material awards praised by all faithful adherents to Tiamat.
Nov 9, 2012 9:27 PM - Paul: ...and FINALLY, to conclude the recap from my campaign notes, after the public confession and betrothal ceremony, we shall commence the battle for Brindol in the morning of Day 18 at level 10. Thus endeth the recap. Victory!!!
Nov 9, 2012 9:24 PM - Paul: ...continuing my recap, according to my campaign notes, Abraxus has heard the confession of Tredora Goldenbrow, high priestess of Pelor; and has imposed as penance that she must publicly confess her relationship to Lord Jarmaath and that the two of them must be publicly betrothed on the eve of battle. In exchange, Abraxus will protect Lord Jaarmath's life and yield the spiritual fruits of his loyalty to Bahamut...
Nov 9, 2012 9:20 PM - Paul: ...continuing with my recap, according to my campaign notes, whilst the more nimble folk of our party were disabling and sabotaging siege engines (which I note another 5 are now disabled!), Diosporos and Abraxus were tasked with conflicting proposals regarding the life of Lord Jarmaath....
Nov 9, 2012 9:14 PM - Paul: ...continuing with the recap, according to my campaign notes, we have secured as allies the Femorians, the Ghost Lord and his undead army, the Tiri Kitor elves, the dwarves of the Shining Axe Company, and the Lizardfolk. We failed in our attempt to recruit Yormul the dragon, due to exploits of our more crafty folk; however, such failure yielded great amounts of gold and a flying carpet upon which Abraxus cannot fit. Yormul and his friends now rest among the departed...
Nov 9, 2012 9:13 PM - Tracy: Paul's diligent note taking has now disabled another 5 siege engines.
Nov 9, 2012 9:07 PM - Paul: ...also, to recap, according to my campaign notes, we were last in Brindol on Day 17 of this adventure, after the council had convened, at which point our more nimble party members disabled 9 siege weapons and sabotaged 21 more siege weapons, leaving only 20 out of 50 as being fully functional...
Nov 9, 2012 9:03 PM - Paul: I too have organized my work and gaming schedule around Sunday. My diligently taken campaign notes indicate that we are scheduled for our gaming session on Sunday from Noon to 8pm at Au Bon Gout. Further, we each have a cohort to create at 8th level; I am currently working on my Lizardfolk (Bullywug) Ranger (Scout)....
Nov 9, 2012 8:23 PM - Kenny P: I've adjusted my schedule around Sunday. :/
Nov 9, 2012 8:20 PM - Xerek: Sunday is my understanding
Nov 9, 2012 8:06 PM - Tracy: I believe we decided on Sunday the 11th this week. If this is not the case, or more people would rather do Saturday the 10th (tomorrow) let me know.
Nov 5, 2012 1:23 PM - Rob P: Touche lol
Nov 3, 2012 12:52 PM - Tracy: Eladrin live in the fey wild as monsters in this land. The Tiri Kitor think they are selfish twats.
Nov 2, 2012 11:58 AM - Rob P: Why no? Just curious. Admittedly they live in the forest but they also have cities and magic enough to outfit us lol
Nov 2, 2012 9:44 AM - Xerek: Correct Kenny.
Nov 2, 2012 9:24 AM - Kenny P: Remind me again. There is no game tomorrow, the 3rd. We have one next weekend, Sunday the 11th. Yes?
Nov 1, 2012 7:01 PM - Kenny P: That's a bitchin' domino effect. :P
Nov 1, 2012 6:18 PM - Xerek: I would argue no on the eladrin and yes to the bitches being my bitch's bitches.
Nov 1, 2012 4:36 PM - Rob P: Btw could the elf be eladrin or does it gotta be elf to fit the theme?
Nov 1, 2012 4:35 PM - Rob P: Lol so u make us ur bitches while i make the enemy my bitches
Oct 31, 2012 5:51 PM - Xerek: Well, I'm playing a Taclord, which truly is basically another striker with some off healing. Especially with all the essentials classes as bitches.
Oct 31, 2012 5:50 PM - Rob P: Lol i was gonna offer to play a leader if needed but looks like it worked itself out. Lol
Oct 31, 2012 9:23 AM - Xerek: I'm gonna play the Dwarf Warlord (Because with all these essential chars, Basic Attacks are gonna be pimped out! Why did it take so long to make that conclusion?)
Oct 30, 2012 4:30 PM - Kenny P: If they pile up next to me while bloodied, sure. xD

I'm only funning ya. Another healer is a great idea. Everyone and their grandma knows the badger's a lazy bastard.
Oct 30, 2012 4:25 PM - Xerek: I'm just sayin - can you heal for 10, more than twice as many as before?
Oct 30, 2012 4:12 PM - Kenny P: We've got an awesome healer in Abernathy. "There's no one better, there's no one greater!"

I can make my cohort, Costello (HEY ABE!), into a Hexblade.
Oct 30, 2012 4:09 PM - Xerek: I was actually hoping to do a Dwarf Warpriest if Tracy OKd it, leaving the human open for whatever. Mir egal, i'd like to play the healer, whether that is the human or the dwarf, I don't mind which
Oct 30, 2012 4:07 PM - Paul: OK. With those thoughts in mind, I would be inclined to suggest that the human should be a warpriest cleric, capable of excellent healing and inflicting punishment as needed, especially when undead are concerned. The additional possibility listed among Tracy's options below could be a dwarf slayer fighter. Technically, this is a striker build, but in my experience this build can stand in as a defender as a secondary role. Just my own two cents!
Oct 30, 2012 4:00 PM - Xerek: All I'm saying is that we'll need a great healer, and possibly a defender to help keep focus
Oct 30, 2012 3:58 PM - Paul: The 3rd scout is the guide who led us through the Witchwood when we battled the hydra. He is one of our allies, and was present at the council in Brindol.
Oct 30, 2012 3:55 PM - Xerek: Where's the 3rd scout from? Either way, I don't see an issue with it; although I do see a competition of sorts: who can make the best scout or who can play the scout the best :)
Oct 30, 2012 3:43 PM - Paul: Glad you enjoyed your stroll. As for our secondary characters, between me, you, and Dror the ranger; we will have 3 ranger scouts (one lizardfold, one elf, and one human). Do you think this may be a bit too many scouts? Thoughts from others, whilst we figure out the configurations of our bitches???
Oct 30, 2012 3:36 PM - Kenny P: I took a night-time stroll with Hurricane Sassy last night. She whipped my ass, and the trees, back and forth.

As for my secondary character, I'll go for the elf [scout] I resurrected. Abe's in no mood to keep track of ranger dailies and encounters.
Oct 30, 2012 1:58 PM - Paul: All is well on my end. No power outage, so that was very fortunate. However, we have a tremendous amount of fallen trees throughout the Astoria area.

In terms of the Kobold/Bullywug issue, I actually began using the Character Builder and found that it includes Bullywug as a race option. After thinking about it more, I am going to go with the Bullywug, as I have all the stats and info.

Hope everyone else is doing alright after Frankenstorm.
Oct 30, 2012 1:18 PM - Xerek: So did everyone make it through the Storm?
Oct 29, 2012 4:41 PM - Tracy: Sorry, yes, you can make a Revenant Wizard, Mage, Warden, Psion, Ardent, Runepriest, Avenger, Sorecerer, Elementalist, or Sha'ir

As far as being a Kobold, you can substitute the racial feature Trap Sense for being a medium sized character.
Oct 29, 2012 2:42 PM - Paul: Here's the link to the article on Kobolds from WoTC. I think I am leaning toward Kobold...I think I can create a rather formidable striker as my lizardfolk bitch.
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.aspx?x=dnd/4ex/20120419
Oct 29, 2012 2:32 PM - Paul: Great. I have more materials for Kobolds though than I do for Bullywugs. The new Dungeon Survival Guide supplement introduced Kobold as a new race for PCs for 4th edition. I'll try both and see what I can create. Either way, I'll create and play the Lizardfolk scout.
Oct 29, 2012 2:12 PM - Xerek: Paul, the race would be Bullywug or Kobold as Tracy wrote below. Bullywug is from the MM, not sure where Kobold is from. As a scout, i would go for the Bullywug because the Kobold's damage will be crippled as he's a small size char. The race doesn't have a lot of support, but I think it will be the stronger striker.
Oct 29, 2012 2:06 PM - Paul: Finally, to all, stay safe during Hurricane Sandy! See y'all on Sunday, November 11th, when our next game is scheduled from Noon to 8pm.
Oct 29, 2012 2:04 PM - Paul: Also, here are the stats of the siege weapons that our "special forces" team has compromised: Out of 50 siege weapons, 9 have been disabled, and 21 have been sabotaged! That leaves only 20 siege weapons belonging to the enemy as being active.
Oct 29, 2012 2:02 PM - Paul: Ok. I'll do the Lizardfolk scout. But, I don't have any racial stats for playing/creating a lizardfolk as a PC. Does anyone have such info? If not, I can adapt something from the Monster Vault materials....should be interesting.
Oct 29, 2012 9:20 AM - SofaKing: What about the revenant? If no revenant lets keep him human, Diosporos hates lazy halfling nature.
Oct 28, 2012 4:13 PM - Xerek: Paul, I know you wanted to make a scout, so I'll let you do the Lizardfolk. Rob, you wanted an elf, right? Kenny, would you prefer a dwarf or a human?

We currently have 1.5 striker, 1.5 defender, 1 controller, 1 leader. For the new guys, 4 strikers and a leader almost make sense. However we can dish out the pain as quick as possible. Or replace one of those 4 strikers with a Defender. Thoughts?
Oct 28, 2012 12:19 PM - Tracy: Options for Back Up Bitches:
1 - Dwarf Fighter, Slayer, Battlemind, Berserker, Warlord, or Barbarian
2 - Elf Wizard, Mage, Bladesinger, Warlock, Hexblade, Sword Mage, Archer Ranger, Hunter, Seeker, or Scout
3 - Human Any
4 - Bullywug/Kobold (lizard folk) Druid, Protector, Shaman, Witch, Warden, Sentinel, Assassin, or Scout
5 - Diosporos, instead of taking a cohort, create a halfling rogue, scout, or assassin. We'll pretend I said he was a halfling.
Oct 28, 2012 12:16 PM - Tracy: These are level 8 characters using standard character creation rules. You can equip them with a level 9, 8, and 7 item as well as give them gold equal to their level. If you have any equipment that you aren't using you can give those items to your bitch as well.
Oct 27, 2012 10:21 PM - Xerek: Good point, I had looked at those, but the fluff on them don't seem to fit as well.
Oct 27, 2012 10:03 PM - Kenny P: Githzerai or githyanki are good options. They already look lizard-like; the mottled skin, the yellow/brown/green colorings.
Oct 27, 2012 8:16 PM - Xerek: So, what race should the lizardman char be? My first guess would be Thri-Keen or Bullywug, although cases could be made for some of the other kobold-esque races with a re-skin.
Oct 27, 2012 12:17 PM - Kenny P: No objections from me.
Oct 27, 2012 12:08 PM - Tracy: I'm dragging a bit today...anyone object to starting at 2?
Oct 25, 2012 7:07 PM - Tracy: Yes 1:30 and yes bring a level 10 IN ADDITION TO your level 9.
Oct 24, 2012 9:20 PM - Xerek: So we're going to finish our negotiations, then we'll need a lvl 10?
Oct 24, 2012 6:59 PM - Paul: I notice the times indicate 11:30am. I just want to confirm that we are meeting at 1:30pm. Thanks!
Oct 24, 2012 5:46 PM - Tracy: Good suggestion Paul. We'll hammer it out at 1:30 on Saturday at Au Bon Gout. Can't wait to finish the Ghost Lord's negotiations!
Oct 23, 2012 4:01 PM - Paul: I myself will be out of town on November 17. I suggest we discuss game sessions and our schedules, in view of the holidays, this Saturday when we meet next.
Oct 23, 2012 1:08 PM - Rob P: Hey i just realized u put one for the 10th of november. Unfortunately i cannot do that day. Could we move that one to the following week?
