Jul 28, 2012 2:42 AM - kentmagus: I will make another bladesinger to recover the sword from his dead brother-in-arms! In other news, my bladesinger could have -totally- survived four dinosaurs while he ran away:P Also, Matt, you obviously put in a lot of work on the maps, and the crates, and turrets, and it was much appreciated.
Jul 26, 2012 3:03 PM - Tracy: Actually, I'm happy to have ended up as Dino poo...My mom expected less anyway.
Jul 26, 2012 9:40 AM - AVacc: I had a total blast. Thanks again!
Jul 26, 2012 9:38 AM - James L: I became Dinosaur poo. I had such higher ambitions. Loved it though, T-Rex demolished us. The whole time I felt dread. How befitting, since it is the Isle of Dread. Thanks Matt. Don't forget to vote.
Jul 26, 2012 12:00 AM - Nileoc: In time I will return to the Isle of Dread..to loot your corpses.
Jul 25, 2012 11:31 PM - Matt H: The bad news is that you were wiped out, your bones added to the fossil record on the Isle of Dread...

The good news is that you were delicious.
Jul 25, 2012 11:25 PM - Jason P.: Thanks man. I won't be around for a while, so please hold on to it for me. Thanks again, Matt, that was sufficiently brutal yet fun.
Jul 25, 2012 11:15 PM - Tracy: Great game guys! I ended up with your Artificer mini Jason. Good to see your leg is doing better!
Jul 24, 2012 9:36 PM - Matt H: CitiCenter. See you all tomorrow.
Jul 24, 2012 9:16 PM - Jason P.: Where is this happening?
Jul 24, 2012 8:30 AM - Matt H: That works, but in the spirit of not being a jerk tomorrow, I'll give you a hint: relying upon rituals in this lair assault is a Bad Idea.
Jul 24, 2012 2:30 AM - kentmagus: If I cast the Familiar Mount ritual on a flying familiar, will I get a flying mount?
Jul 23, 2012 4:41 PM - Nileoc: That sounds good Jason, I put down before that I was creating a Fighter/Cleric, but mine is Stream of Life focused while yours seems to be focused on enabling. I'm sure there wont be any problem.
Jul 22, 2012 1:46 PM - Jason P.: I hate to bump anyone, but this is one of the only times I can play this summer. I'll bring two leaders (prolly artificer and warlord) and see what kind of damage we can do.
Jul 20, 2012 1:56 PM - Matt H: That's an interesting one. I've never seen it at a table, but my understanding is that yes, you can use your 1,000 GP to purchase mounts and henchmen and hirelings and such.
Jul 20, 2012 1:34 PM - kentmagus: What about purchasing hirelings, henchmen or mounts?
Jul 19, 2012 1:00 PM - Matt H: As far as I know, no Artifact has a level, so no they can't be selected for Lair Assault. If there is one of Level 7 or lower (not just "Heroic Tier"), let me know.
Jul 19, 2012 12:45 PM - kentmagus: Can our characters get artifacts?
Jul 14, 2012 12:06 AM - Tommy T: Ironwrought = Roll twice for one attack +1d8 if both die hit/resists 2 all while bloodied. Purple Dragon = Stance/+1 MBAs and kind of lame level 5 feature (+1 on assists).
Jul 14, 2012 12:04 AM - Tommy T: Gloom pact hexblade with Flail Exp. Insta-prone. Armor of agythys (1d6+8 cold damage to adjacent enemies) and well of shadows ( creates a zone of immobilize/ongoing 10) allows me to seriously lock down enemies. My feats/utilities offer high defenses. Just deciding theme (Ironwrought or Purple Dragon).
Jul 12, 2012 10:40 AM - Tracy: Wood Elf Scout: Replaced Elven Accuracy with Sense Threat = Initiative Mod +18. If allies roll lower than I do they gain +2 racial bonus to their initiative checks. Feats: Net Training [Multi-Class] - When you hit the target with a weapon attack using a net, the target is slowed; World Serpent's Grasp, Headman's Chop (off hand hand axe), Grounding Shot...we should also look at each getting a deck of fortune cards if we haven't got one already.
Jul 11, 2012 11:49 PM - Matt H: Yes indeedy. Basically everything is legal, with the caveat that TheoryOp that relies upon questionable rules interpretations will still get nerfed at the table (so you may want to run anything vaguely dodgy by me ahead of time, just so there aren't any surprises at the table). I'm pretty liberal about these things - especially for Lair Assault - but I don't want anyone to be caught off-guard when your world-ending combo fizzles due to the magic of fiat...
Jul 11, 2012 10:59 PM - Nileoc: I'm excited/horrified. Just to make sure, aside from the item limit everything else is legal? I.E. Hybrids or Marks?
Jul 11, 2012 2:30 PM - Capt_Dan: "Mercenary" and "Bloodsworn" are pretty nifty...
Jul 11, 2012 2:26 PM - Capt_Dan: Really hoping I can play - I have a Minotaur Knight with headsmans, World Serpent, Vicious Advantage, "Defend the Line" and an Aftershock Axe - Would work a treat with a Slayer using Flails... and don't forget Themes!
Jul 11, 2012 1:17 PM - AVacc: Tell me again why I keep signing up for certain death?
Jul 11, 2012 1:13 PM - Matt H: Just remember: Lair Assault monsters metagame too...

For anyone who hasn't played a Lair Assault previously, this tends to take the form of hyper-intelligent enemies that focus fire against the most fragile PC's lowest defense, coup-de-grace anyone who goes down, and understand that unconscious PCs are still a threat -- dead ones aren't. I'm sure your cute little Frost Axe tricks will do wonders against the Tyrant Claw Tribe...

Enjoy your visit to the Isle of Dread! What could go wrong?
Jul 11, 2012 12:56 PM - James L: If we build focusing on Headsman's chop and Frost Vulnerabilities, we can call our party Frosty Headcheese.
Jul 8, 2012 9:32 PM - Matt H: That's fine by me. You might also want to look at building around an elemental damage type, and have somebody who can inflict vulnerabilities...
Jul 7, 2012 6:29 PM - Tracy: If that's the case and we want to synergize, look at taking the feats: Headman's Chop and World Serpent's Grasp, fight with an axe or heavy blade, and take powers that slow and immobolize. If everyone focuses on a build around that we should all synergize too good to be true. I would never say this in a regular game. :p
Jul 7, 2012 5:18 PM - Matt H: Also: I'd highly recommend both bringing two characters and coordinating ahead of time for party composition.
Jul 6, 2012 10:42 AM - James L: Each character may have no more than two consumable items (like potions or magic ammunition) equal to or less than the challenge’s level, and no more than one rare magic item. Note that players may equip their characters with magic items that are less than the stated levels if they so choose. So Uncommon items are choosable, but no more than 1 rare.
Jul 6, 2012 10:42 AM - James L: We use straightforward rules to equip characters for their deadly battles. Each character receives one magic item of one level higher than their level (level + 1), one of their level (level + 0), and one of one level lower than their level (level – 1). In addition, characters receive gold pieces equal to the value of one magic item of one level lower than their level (level – 1) to buy other equipment they think they’ll need. Each character may have no more than two consumable items (like
Jul 6, 2012 10:33 AM - Tracy: Do you have a link for the character creation rules? I remember when Jensen did a lair assault we suspended the house rules due to the nature of the delve.
Jul 6, 2012 12:00 AM - Matt H: Note: There are special character creation rules for Lair Assault, regarding the items you can select. (You'll need them.)

The Attack of the Tyrantclaw is for Level 6 characters.
