SOW - Last Breath of the Dragon Queen
Cost: $0.00
Level: 30

First Session: Monday -- September 3rd, 2012 -- 7:00 PM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 5 sessions

Description:
Come on I know a lot of you might think: "I don't want to skip to the end of the entire Scales of War adventure path." But let me tell you, what are the odds you can ever keep together a group long enough to go through 30 levels? Not high. Plus, there are some absolute crap adventures in all three tiers of this adventure path. Chances are that group would get bored and quit halfway through, because they really do suck that bad. Plus each one is very compartmentalized, so much so that you can run them separately and not tell people and no-one would ever know there were linked adventures before and after. So anyway, just jump to the end which is absolutely EPIC! Fight Tiamat!

The Platinum Dragon (Bahamut) has asked for help from the greatest heroes in existance. He senses Tiamat, the five headed dragon goddess of greed, envy, and wealth, who just recently lost a war for the Prime Meterial Plane is recovering. Now is the time to strike at her on her home plane of the Nine Hells.

By the end of the adventure, the characters should have saved the universe, slain a god, and achieved their epic destinies. The characters travel to Tiamatís lair in the Caverns of Fiery Splendor, where they face Tiamatís most loyal guardians, then the Dragon Queen herself in all her five-headed might. They arenít fighting a reflection of Tiamat, an avatar of Tiamat, an aspect of Tiamat, or anything less daunting than the actual goddess at the zenith of her power.

PLEASE! Only players who have played at Epic before. Plus, the character they bring to this adventure must have been played at Epic level also. Epic can be very complicated and there wont be time to teach inexperienced people.

Oct 12, 2012 11:51 PM - Kenny P: BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
Oct 12, 2012 11:50 PM - Kenny P: Anyanka strides into her Sanctum Sanctorum and places a battered and half-melted metallic skull atop a pedestal. [zoom slowly onto the skull] Green light casts a sickly pall over the skull, the eye sockets flicker while Anyanka laughs throatily, "And now, my work truly begins." [end?]
Oct 12, 2012 11:42 PM - Kenny P: Cutscene: Deep within the Sea of Dust, hidden within a perpetually raging sandstorm, an empty city of obsidian and onyx stirs awake. A sickly green light flares to life atop the highest spire, signaling the return of its lord and master. [pan/zoom cam to the palace] A shadow glides across the inner courtyard, expanding to form a Gate from which Anyanka and her servants emerge. Tiamat's wealth is taken to the vaults, the dragon eggs to their nurseries. With nary a glance at the spoils of victory,
Oct 12, 2012 9:22 PM - Tracy: Ha - Vlad, I seriously doubt I look even that good. Thankfully, I know that the Magister will come and revive me...right? :) I have a whole lot of being a demi god to get done and it is hard to do that dead.
Oct 12, 2012 5:54 PM - Tommy T: Thanks for running this, Dan. At least I got to kill 1 god before the end of 4E.
Oct 12, 2012 4:40 PM - Vlad: I am afraid after a fall from that height, you look like robotkill. http://ecogirlcosmoboy.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/road_robot_toronto.jpg
Oct 12, 2012 4:39 PM - Tracy: Someone is going to come along and salvage me for some very expensive parts.
Oct 12, 2012 11:20 AM - Kenny P: Thanks for DMing another cool and fun game, Dan. I really appreciate the work and time you put in to the game. And it was a pleasure to play with you guys again.
Oct 12, 2012 10:55 AM - Capt_Dan: Guys, thanks so much for playing, I had a blast with that, despite my grumbling about how weak the dragons were... I got two legit kills in, and Tiamat might almost have taken you down, with a few more HP...
Oct 12, 2012 6:57 AM - Jason P.: Thanks again to Dan for running. That was really fun.
Oct 9, 2012 4:13 PM - Tracy: I do. :)
Oct 9, 2012 1:04 PM - Capt_Dan: Oh, last thing - does anyone have the "Aspect of Tiamat" model from the "War of the Dragon Queen" set? If not, no worries. I couldn't aquire one in time...
Oct 8, 2012 10:57 AM - Tracy: I'm up for it! :)
Oct 7, 2012 8:23 PM - Capt_Dan: Thurs - ONLY (and Last), worst case, we go a little past 11pm. We will be definitely done by 11:30pm - I am absolutely going to be in bed by midnight...
Oct 7, 2012 8:17 PM - Kenny P: Are we playing tomorrow? And is Thursday the extra session we talked about? Or is Thursday the only and last session this week?
Oct 7, 2012 3:04 PM - Capt_Dan: Okay - Next Thursday (11th) Good for everyone? That should be the final session.
Oct 5, 2012 9:53 AM - James L: Sorry I got the estimate of length of sessions wrong. It is very disruptive when that happens.
Oct 1, 2012 3:05 PM - Kenny P: Okay.
Oct 1, 2012 2:54 PM - Capt_Dan: Okay, it's going to get late fast - DM privilege DEFINITELY NOT TONIGHT. Next week sometime, likely Monday.
Oct 1, 2012 2:29 PM - Jason P.: Weekends really won't work. I have schoolwork and I'm seeing someone. Next Monday?
Oct 1, 2012 2:17 PM - Capt_Dan: Okay, That's fair. Well I'm quite open to suggestions. We can go tonight; we can do some weekend time; we can do next week. It WILL be one last session, and I don't mind waiting a little while - it gives me some prep time I can use.
Oct 1, 2012 2:13 PM - Vlad: Ugh, I hate to be a party pooper but I committed myself to an event on Thursday night this morning that I'd have a very hard time cancelling now. Can we schedule the game for a weekend and do everything in one sitting then?
Oct 1, 2012 2:10 PM - Capt_Dan: FYI - all you are currently doing is shuttin gdown the defenses to Tiamats penthouse office. You should have some idea as to how you'll ascend ~800m...
Oct 1, 2012 2:09 PM - Capt_Dan: I think I'll almost certainly do that. I'd hate to not get the main event done right...
Oct 1, 2012 2:07 PM - Jason P.: To make sure we finish off Tiamat in one night, I think we can remove the sub boss fight in the black dragon room. Say they fled in fear. That would leave us the red, the black, and Tiamat, doable in a night. I'd like to avoid scheduling another session if we could help it.
Oct 1, 2012 2:04 PM - Jason P.: Ya, Thursday is fine. Take care of yourselves, guys.
Oct 1, 2012 1:57 PM - Tommy T: i vote for thursday too. I rather everyone be at the top of their game.
Oct 1, 2012 1:55 PM - Tracy: That change would be ideal but I will tough it out if need be
Oct 1, 2012 1:37 PM - Capt_Dan: Right, quick poll- I'm not feeling that well, and Tracy's just had major dental surgery - would thursday be better? I no it's last minute, so if one person says no, then it goes ahead today, no issues.
Oct 1, 2012 1:19 PM - Tracy: Much Oblilged, I'm getting 3 root canals done today so I'll be in a drugged stooper all week, I'm sure I could use the rest.
Sep 30, 2012 8:37 PM - Capt_Dan: Yes, Monday, No Thursday - I don't want to kill Tracy... We can see where we get to tomorrow - if it is just the finale left, we can take a view then...
Sep 30, 2012 1:29 PM - Kenny P: I forget, is tomorrow our 4th game? And Thursday the last?
Sep 28, 2012 11:01 AM - Tommy T: Evenings are pretty open. Weekends are a little tough, but i"m down for anything. Really having fun killing dragons left and right
Sep 27, 2012 10:11 PM - Kenny P: I'm for Anyday.
Sep 27, 2012 4:02 PM - Jason P.: I'd rather do Thursday night than a weekend, personally.
Sep 27, 2012 3:50 PM - Vlad: That would be fine for me, as long as its not Wednesday (Thursday is fine)
Sep 27, 2012 3:20 PM - Capt_Dan: Actually, another good option might be later in the week, with a slightly later start?
Sep 27, 2012 3:16 PM - Capt_Dan: *next weekend, 6-7th*
Sep 27, 2012 3:16 PM - Vlad: Even with a shorter session, a workday is preferable for me, but I am flexible.
Sep 27, 2012 3:14 PM - Capt_Dan: Quick poll, would anyone be interested in a final session on the weekend? I ask, as I think it will be a shorter session (I'm anticipating, just the greedeity herself...)
Sep 25, 2012 12:41 PM - Capt_Dan: Yes.
Sep 25, 2012 11:48 AM - Tommy T: Are we on for tonight?
Sep 21, 2012 10:23 PM - Kenny P: Thank YOU for running games of Draconic proportions. :P
Sep 21, 2012 11:22 AM - Capt_Dan: Guys, thanks so much for working with me on this. See you on Tues.
Sep 21, 2012 12:46 AM - Vlad: Mmm, I guess I can do Tuesday, since it doesn't sound like we have any other reasonable options.
Sep 21, 2012 12:39 AM - Tommy T: I can more or less do any day given enough time in advance. Whatever works best for Dan.
Sep 21, 2012 12:28 AM - Kenny P: It felt invigorating to let loose on, well, anything!. I wasn't trapped in there with them, they were trapped in there with me! muahahahahaha

P.S. I'm good for any day.
Sep 21, 2012 12:17 AM - Jason P.: As far as that Dray lieutenant. I keep him alive and barely conscious. During our short rests, I alternate between berating him for his folly at worshipping Tiamat and encouraging him to join my cause. I also drag his carcass (or have someone strong do it) to every battle, prop his head up, and make him watch Calig, the once and future Dragon-King, do his thing.
Sep 21, 2012 12:15 AM - Jason P.: I can do pretty much any day as long as I know ahead of time, except for Thursday since that's James' Fiasco game. Thanks for running this, Dan, this is fun.
Sep 21, 2012 12:10 AM - Capt_Dan: Okay, I cannot do this monday - I'm very sorry, should have changed it sooner. I can do Tue, or Thu, and if not either of them, it starts to get v. difficult. All, Let me know which of those you can't do, and we'll work it out.
Sep 21, 2012 12:09 AM - Capt_Dan: That was pretty good - I'm just annoyed the DB didn't do more - all four trapped with the only guy that can stand up to them, with only the one attack!
Sep 20, 2012 11:53 PM - Tracy: That was awesome tonight everyone! 3 encounters in 3 1/2 hours is awesome at epic tier. Although, I understand how hard it must be to try to DM a mod that was made 2 years ago vs characters that were made using rules made less than that. Thanks Captain Dan! This is awesome.
Sep 20, 2012 1:13 PM - Jason P.: Hahahahaha. Get some hit points, tree huggers. That was fun!
Sep 19, 2012 9:13 PM - Tommy T: I have nightmares about that damn Death Beam...
Sep 19, 2012 9:08 PM - Kenny P: Barely survived that room. We came out of it and someone attempted to disable the disintegration beam trap that prevents anyone from flying up to Tiamat's platform (which is hovering atop a column of fire jetting out of the magma pool in the center). Trap went off, half of us died, came back to life, and rested in the cleared out white dragon chamber.
Sep 19, 2012 9:05 PM - Kenny P: As long as you do show, Vlad. Half a session is better than no session, and we can use all the help we can get!

RECAP: We were gathered in the City of Brass, where Paladine -err- I mean Bahamut spirited us away to Tiamat's realm (which was falling apart and its denizens at war with each other and outsiders). We went into a ginormous cavern with 5 dragon-headed entrances to other chambers. We went into the white dragon chamber, fought a lich and a white dragon, and other nasties.
Sep 19, 2012 8:32 PM - Tracy: Whatever we do tomorrow, remember...DON'T CROSS THE BEAMS!
Sep 19, 2012 2:50 PM - Vlad: Sorry guys, something super urgent came up at work today and tomorrow. I'll still be able to make it to the game, but probably with a significant delay. I think I'll be able to get off around 8:30, so I should be at Au Bon sometime between 8:45 and 9:15 or so.
Sep 18, 2012 10:32 AM - Tracy: Thanks again for accomodating me on this everyone! Can't wait to dive back into the action on Thursday!
Sep 13, 2012 7:09 AM - Jason P.: Or just give the solo that 2nd monster's hp (around 260 at this level) and a minor action attack worth what that 2nd monster would have done. Prolly more exciting than just some random dude that we would roast in 3 seconds.
Sep 12, 2012 11:39 PM - Capt_Dan: three glasses of wine and I'm apost'traphe's everywhere...
Sep 12, 2012 11:38 PM - Capt_Dan: The challenge from my perspective is balancing Solo's against you guys - I can't just stick in an extra monster...
Sep 12, 2012 11:37 PM - Capt_Dan: T Michael, from a DM perspective, more damage is better, I can belance the game by making it rougher - everyone hit's harder - rather then extend it (everyone gets more HP)...
Sep 8, 2012 2:44 PM - Jason P.: We have really good party balance as is. Either the defender or striker would work. Bring whatever would be most fun for you. I hope everything in your fam is ok (or, as ok as things can be).
Sep 8, 2012 2:35 PM - Kenny P: Actually, a blackguard would be nice as well.
Sep 8, 2012 2:32 PM - Kenny P: Glad to see you're doing well. If you do join, a paladin with a defender aura (to mark what I cannot) would be ideal. But not if it isn't something you want to play. Fun must be had. :D
Sep 8, 2012 2:25 PM - Tracy: We are off to a fairly good start. 2 epic combats in a little less than 3 hours! I say bring the pain, I've got healing in the bag! Welcome in!
Sep 8, 2012 1:50 PM - T Michael: Thank you again for all the condolences. Is the game on the 20th fixed or flexible? If flexible, I would love to join the party. What do you guys need more: a heavy armored striker (blackguard) or a saintly virtuous paladin?
Sep 7, 2012 12:13 PM - Capt_Dan: As an example, if you stunned a flying dragon, I'd have it fall straight down - if it hit something below, I'd roll damage for the fall, and both would take it - plus I'd count the player underneath as grabbed/restrained - but not with the no Los/LoE limit that the White had yesterday, as that was a special power.
Sep 7, 2012 12:11 PM - Capt_Dan: I think a lot of it comes down to common sense. If something is flying with wings, then it can essentially hold position by either beating them hard, or cirling tightly (I'd see a Dragon doing either). If it's stunned, then it stops focusing on its wings, and falls. Creatures that fly due to magic (Screaming undead, for example) can be stunned, but just hang there, as no real focus is needed to keep position.
Sep 7, 2012 11:49 AM - Kenny P: Ah, gotcha.
Sep 7, 2012 11:16 AM - Jason P.: As far as hover, the really old fly rule stated that a creature had to move two squares if it wanted to keep flying on every turn, unless it had hover. That was really, really lame in play, so they took that part out and just left the hover/ stun thing.
Sep 7, 2012 11:16 AM - Kenny P: Additional rules on fly speed: If you don't have hover, you have to move at least 2 squares on your turn to maintain altitude. Or else you fall. While hover prevents creatures from falling due to stun, it doesn't seem to prevent falls from being knocked prone. (makes sense, I mean, you push or sweep the legs of a grounded creature, and for flying one would tangle the wings or somesuch)

@Calig: You can fertilize some cannabis with those ashes and smoke 'em. xD
Sep 7, 2012 11:00 AM - Jason P.: Calig wants to apologize for triggering the beams... no he doesn't. Screw that. The thought of friends being reduced to ash just reminds him of home.
Sep 7, 2012 10:13 AM - Tommy T: Double Also: 2 Weeks before we play again :(
Sep 7, 2012 10:13 AM - Tommy T: Also I looked up Hover. Literally the only thing it does is prevent falling when you're flying and get stunned... Apparently I've just never encountered the Hover keyword. lol
Sep 7, 2012 10:10 AM - Tommy T: That attack was just silly. I wish I was not in the rest room when Jason decided he was gonna do that haha. Oh well. Good times though.
Sep 7, 2012 2:25 AM - Kenny P: I think what happened tonight was "right" for the party's level and "CR". Taking your "level in damage" is likely just for those situations it was written under, whilst taking disintegration beams to the face should be harsher. Epic level fighting should have epic level consequences. It's only fair, imo. I'm just glad those beams were all ONE attack. I wouldn't have survived otherwise. -_-;;
Sep 7, 2012 12:29 AM - Jason P.: I like the common sense rule. Surges are just an abstraction to represent a PC's vitality. If someone has no vitality (no surges) and something keeps sucking at it (like a Wight, or that awesome trap), then there should continue to be an adverse effect, whether its the PC's level in damage or their surge value. But the rule isn't really clear, so whatever Dan decides.
Sep 7, 2012 12:25 AM - Jason P.: Re: Healing surges. The only relevant rule on healing surges is actually in the suffocation section. Any character who loses a surge when they have none actually takes their level in damage. Taking the surge value in damage seems to be simply a universally accepted house rule.
Sep 6, 2012 11:43 PM - Tracy: Oh yeah, now go through Machine's journal entries and read them as if Sean Connery did the book on tape...they'll make so much more sense now!
Sep 6, 2012 11:41 PM - Tracy: HA! I think that was Tiamat's way of saying, "You think fighting 5 heads is rough? Try kissing all 5 of my arses!"
Sep 6, 2012 11:26 PM - Kenny P: (Holy shit! Those disintegration beams pwned us so hard. My jaw literally dropped at what happened. Sweet baby Jesus in his manger in the sky!)
Sep 6, 2012 11:26 PM - Kenny P: As Calig inadvertently set off the wards' disintegrator beams, Anyanka's quickly cast a counterspell to devour the killing energy and convert it into a restorative. Calig and Oberon were able to weather the spell storm with their own contingencies, but the others were not so fortunate. Using various potent artifacts littered about Tiamat's lair as fuel for her magic, she literally willed her dead allies back to life.
Sep 6, 2012 11:22 PM - Vlad: Doing some googling regarding surges going negative. It sounds like people are saying that nothing happens if your surges hit a negative value unless the trap / power / creature who caused the surges to go negative specifically mention that something happens.

Sounds like there is no specific RAW rule that says: "You take surge value in damage", so its up to the DM's discretion completely.

Could be wrong though, but I don't see anything on compendium that would address it.
Sep 6, 2012 6:56 PM - Capt_Dan: v. sorry ~10 mins late...
Sep 6, 2012 4:01 PM - Kenny P: This is more like Starcraft if Kerrigan's in it. :P
Sep 6, 2012 3:10 PM - Vlad: Pshh, I think of myself as more of an Everquest guy!

As far as character specifics go - I am oriented more toward damage than control, with most of my eggs stacked in the summons basket, with my Queen of Blades triple attacking at 2d10 + 46 static, before vulnerabilities and auras.

Sep 6, 2012 2:57 PM - Jason P.: 'if one drops'. We are truly playing WoW.
Sep 6, 2012 2:53 PM - Vlad: Oh yeah, i forgot about the wish list. Gloves of Ice (Epic Tier), Brooch of Unerring Defense (+6), Elven Chain Shirt (although Kenny can have first dibs, if only one drops).
Sep 6, 2012 1:42 PM - Capt_Dan: Yeah, but the players should be saying that... I mean, it's not like I'm sitting here, in my PJ's, rewriting monster powers and traits and cackling to myself...
Sep 6, 2012 1:40 PM - Deirdre: Isn't "YOU DO WHAT?!?!!?!" the whole point of Epic? hehe
Sep 6, 2012 1:20 PM - Tracy: Ha, C_D is firm but fair. I'm sure he'd rather know what we were doing than be surprised at the table with..."YOU DO WHAT!!!?!?!?!?"
Sep 6, 2012 1:15 PM - Deirdre: Should you guys really be revealing all this pertinent info to the DM? I've heard he's a hardass... ;p
Sep 6, 2012 12:05 AM - Capt_Dan: (but) "...are you a God?"
Sep 5, 2012 10:03 PM - Kenny P: I can mitigate/negate up to 26 damage twice a round. I also gain temps = the damage negated so between that and our warlord, hopefully we won't be too harried. As for dps, I have a stance that allows me to MBA as a minor, and a daily power that gives out +2d6 dmg to my allies' melee attacks. (AC 49, MBA/At-will +36 2d10+18)
Sep 5, 2012 10:01 PM - Vlad: Thanks guys. As far as fire resist - mine is very appropriate for a star. Sporting a nice and even 40.
Sep 5, 2012 9:55 PM - Tommy T: Flesh Rend (my pact at-will) is +37, 2d10+40 necro/fire (and I ignore fire resist)/2d10+65 vs bloodied. I have 1 daily conjuration that does the same damage I do so there will literally be 2 of me at one point. Like I said, I always have a (####ing ridiculous) Thief haha.
Sep 5, 2012 9:34 PM - Jason P.: Vlad, I have a Marilith large mini, and a Goristro huge mini that can pass for a Balor. I'll bring both. Calig has no fire resist. Keep your hell-cursed bamphing away from me.
Sep 5, 2012 9:32 PM - Tracy: Last post of the night...bring your damage! Between the swordmage negating damage and my (5 uses of healing word per encounter +8d6+31 (+8 temps) or +2d6+31 (+8 temps and make a saving throw at +8 - not a power bonus!) we need the dps! I will secondary defend (AC 50), but if I hit with an Op Attack I forgo my measly 2d8 + 15 damage to weaken the target instead!
Sep 5, 2012 9:17 PM - Tracy: oh yeah...my wish list: Sandals of Avandra or (not to be redundant) a Ring of Tenacious Will - although if only 1 pops up I won't fight for it. ;)
Sep 5, 2012 8:04 PM - Kenny P: My fire resist is 20, I also have resist 5 all when I mark 2+, diabolic regen 12, resist 10 all from a power, and other silly stuff only a Magister can cook up. :P
Sep 5, 2012 7:44 PM - Tracy: I don't have any fire resistance...but my adamantine plating has resist all 5. So that kind of helps. :)
Sep 5, 2012 7:37 PM - Tommy T: Sorry for the lack of responses. Had to get a lot out of the way this week for this. What's everyone's fire resistance look like? Apparently my teleport speed does 10 fire damage when I leave a square. A paltry amount, but its the only party unfriendly thing I do pretty much.
Sep 5, 2012 7:24 PM - Vlad: I hate to be a mini-mooch, but does anyone have a large Marilith mini and/or a huge Balor (or something that can sub for either). Would be eternally grateful if you could bring it for the game tomorrow.
Sep 5, 2012 6:29 PM - Kenny P: "Puh-LEEZE! Girrrrrl, I know I just met you, but you is about as human as I am a nun!" >:D
Sep 5, 2012 6:01 PM - Jason P.: Exarch? Who, what, where? This blasted portal just shit me out and now I'm in the middle of all you weirdos. Seriously, anyone ever heard of a human? Just point me to Tiamat so I can eat her heart.
Sep 5, 2012 3:36 PM - Capt_Dan: His staff is brought up, just a few inches, and then brought down with an almighty crack, and then...
Sep 5, 2012 3:34 PM - Capt_Dan: But now, her Exarch is defeated, her army scattered. The Effreet have their city back, and all seems well... until the old man appeared again. "You have fought well, but we are not finished. She has never been weaker, you must travel to her final lair, her home in the abyss. This must be finished, finally."
Sep 5, 2012 3:31 PM - Capt_Dan: You followed the departing elements of Tiamats support, and found yourself, to your own surprise, in the City of Brass. But it was not as you expected, gripped by a vicious siege as Tiamat tried desperately to regroup her forces.
Sep 5, 2012 3:31 PM - Tracy: Excerpt from Machine. -3048s. SOW: "Githyanki" Elsir Vale: 1305

"It's been several months since defeating Sarshan, and we know about the Gith invasion on our plane. The Coalition has been established. We must venture to Tu'narath and deliver a blow to them before they try to trample over us. I am honored to have been selected as Leader for this strike team."
Sep 5, 2012 3:21 PM - Capt_Dan: Tiamats plans lie in ruins. Her attempted assassination of Bahamut, foiled; her Githyanki invasion of the Prime Material plane, repelled.
Sep 5, 2012 2:19 PM - Tracy: Machine may well be the first Warforged to achieve this...but the tears were real. He's come a long way from an indifferent bag of bolts to developing feelings and caring for those around him.
Sep 5, 2012 1:46 PM - Kenny P: I've been going over my character again, and discovered I won't be able to use Fantastic Recuperation more than once in a 12-hour period. (damned extended rest rules) I suggest we try to stretch our dailies and item powers through several of the encounters until the grand finale, before which I'll cast the ritual.
Sep 5, 2012 1:44 PM - Kenny P: Warforged can shed tears!? Or is it that they leak lubricant? :D
Sep 5, 2012 1:15 PM - Tracy: "of Bahmut and the largest Golden Dragon I've ever seen! He told me, now is the time to end this. I've been tasked with searching out Oberon, Calig, Anyanka, and something called Wraith, as well as another that 'you will know when you meet him' and going to the Caverns of Fiery Splendor to encounter and destroy the God Tiamat."
Sep 5, 2012 1:11 PM - Tracy: Excerpt from Machine. -3048s. SOW: "Bahamut" Elsir Vale: 1308

"The Portal led to that same spot all those years ago, where Cluge first encountered the strange 'chirping' man. The scene made me do something I have never done before...I cried. I shed a tear for those I've lost along the way and those that would be lost if I didn't keep this old man safe. Upon feeling this, the man with the canaries AND my...um...Cluge's canary transformed. I dropped to my knees to behold the splendor of Bah
Sep 5, 2012 1:06 PM - Tracy: ...a portal of sorts. The canary 'tweeted' once more and flew straight into the portal. I have no choice but to follow..."
Sep 5, 2012 1:05 PM - Tracy: Excerpt from Machine. -3048s. SOW: "Portals" Elsir Vale: 1308

"The canary has proven a loyal and consistent companion throughout these years as many others have come and gone. I've travelled with many and lost most as these scales of war tip back and forth, but Cluge's canary, won from that 'tweeting' old man, has stayed with me since his demise. I woke this morning to him tapping against the window - when I went to open it and let him spread his wings, my hand went through the pane and into
Sep 5, 2012 12:07 PM - Jason P.: For Tracy's warlord: calig has a good MBA. No RBA.
Sep 4, 2012 10:22 AM - Jason P.: Calig now wields the power of the sole dragon of Athas. Everyone always thought that the Dragon's power was inherently corrupted. However, Calig found that it was only corrupted because the Dragon found a way to augment his power by creating an extra-planar link to an evil draconic Queen called Tiamat. Is Calig can slay Tiamat, then his power will be cleansed, and he can finally begin using it to make Athas green once again.
Sep 4, 2012 10:19 AM - Jason P.: Calig is a former Templar working for the Athasian (Dark Sun) city of Urik and its Sorcerer-King, Hamanu. Calig led a revolution aganst Hamanu, slaying him and eating his heart to gain power. Calig then led an all-out assault against the Dragon of Tyr and other Sorcerer-Kings who were loyal to them. Calig ate their hearts and subsumed their powers, as well.
Sep 4, 2012 10:14 AM - Jason P.: The only item on Calig's wishlist is that Armor of Dark Majesty. Anything else would be for fun.
Sep 3, 2012 8:27 PM - Kenny P: Anyanka's wishlist is as "modest" as she is: Opal Ring of Remembrance, Elven Chain Shirt (she left hers at the Tower), and Iron Armbands of Power. Honestly, I'll settle for any magic item or whatever the group doesn't want. Anya's just looking for items she can devour to fuel her magic.
Sep 3, 2012 6:14 PM - Tommy T: I'll stick with my Hexblade. Also here's a hilariously boring "wishlist": Ring of Tenacious Will, Skull Mask and Belt of Vim (yep a Common item!).
Sep 3, 2012 3:16 PM - Capt_Dan: Jason, done. All, we start on THURSDAY 6th Sep - Au Bon Gout. I'll put up the intro soon.
Sep 3, 2012 2:40 PM - Jason P.: Oh, and Dan, I can't officially join the game yet. Mind opening up the sign up window for a bit?
Sep 3, 2012 2:38 PM - Jason P.: Haha. I forgot that Kenny would remember this character. He's all grown up now! Consider this a flash forward.
Sep 3, 2012 1:06 PM - Kenny P: Calig!!! Y'know, our group still misses that warlock of yours Jason. Last I remember, he was in sand form and in my character's sack when we snuck over Giustenal's walls. (also, a hexblade warlock and the ol'cursing warlock wouldn't clash at all. all they have in common is the pact mechanic)
Sep 3, 2012 12:54 PM - Capt_Dan: Okay, it's probably not unlikely - everyone can stick up a wishlist of three more items - 1 rare, 2 other - and we'll see what gets uncovered in Tiamats realm...
Sep 3, 2012 12:26 PM - Jason P.: Yeah, I saw the item rules. I have Ioun Stone of Vigor (Rare), Rod of Ulban and Hands of Hadar (Uncommon). I was just if we would be killing Tiamat's lieutenants and taking their stuff when we start. Some Armor of Dark Majesty would be sweeeeeet. And the two locks don't overlap. In fact, we may synergize... mwahahaha.
Sep 3, 2012 11:34 AM - Capt_Dan: And, you can have the Dragon King destiny, but not other feats, powers or items that target/defend against Dragons.
Sep 3, 2012 11:34 AM - Capt_Dan: Jason, limited items available, but you saw the item rules? 2xRare, 2xUncommon, or 3xuncommon, 2xcommon, or replace an uncommon with a rare, & replace with a wonderous.
Sep 3, 2012 11:30 AM - Tommy T: For whatever reason, if someone is really dead set against having 2 warlocks in the party (I highly doubt our abilities will overlap seeing as i'm a hexblade) I also have my spiked-chain thief.
Sep 3, 2012 2:44 AM - Jason P.: 3) This is a warlock I'm planeshifting from Dark Sun who has the Dragon King epic destiny. The prereq is unfortunately the arcane defiling power, which is DS specific. May I keep this ED and not use arcane defiling? It'll be dragon vs. dragon, baby!
Sep 3, 2012 2:42 AM - Kenny P: Just to clarify, our first game is on Thursday the 6th. No double session this week.
Sep 3, 2012 2:41 AM - Jason P.: Dan, a couple of questions before I set my warlock in stone. 1) What's the status of the 'White Lotus' feats for this game? 2) Will there be any treasure or alternative rewards gained while on this adventure (could use a couple more uncommons!).
Sep 2, 2012 8:28 PM - AVacc: No. Thanks but I have my game to run - Never played level 30 but I don't want to be a hog - Jason has a striker - let him have the seat. I will take out my frustrations on my PCs ;) - You guys have fun.
Sep 2, 2012 8:21 PM - Capt_Dan: There is another alternative, which is I go back to my original weekly schedule, and Tracy has to drop...
Sep 2, 2012 6:20 PM - Jason P.: If Arthur can't make it, I have a 30th lvl warlock build putzing around. I'll stay tuned.
Sep 2, 2012 6:01 PM - Tommy T: Hope you stay in, AVacc. It'll be rough with just me as a striker.
Sep 2, 2012 10:31 AM - AVacc: Yeah, I am in. I was reading the schedule on my phone and it looked like it was conflicting with my game -I prolly just saw it as it was being edited. I am pretty sure I have to work the 20th though -so I am not sure if I should back out.
Sep 2, 2012 1:55 AM - Capt_Dan: Avacc - did you post and delete? I had an email...
Sep 1, 2012 7:45 PM - Capt_Dan: Sorry for the mess around, unless something happens, those days are set in stone.
Sep 1, 2012 12:55 AM - Kenny P: I'm fine with either dates.
Sep 1, 2012 12:17 AM - Tommy T: I can do the 6th as well.
Aug 31, 2012 2:09 PM - Capt_Dan: AVacc - it's just that first thursday, 6th Sep, which I don't think you're playing on?
Aug 31, 2012 12:27 PM - AVacc: Dan - I am running the Encounters season 9 on Thursdays - I cant make it on Thursdays at all - let me know if I need to drop.
Aug 31, 2012 12:19 PM - Capt_Dan: Annoyingly, Next thurs will work a lot better for me than Tues - does anyone object if I switch. If no one has an issue, I'll change it in 24hrs or so.
Aug 30, 2012 3:33 PM - T Michael: Thank you everyone for your thoughts and condolences. I will see you all in a couple of weeks.
Aug 30, 2012 10:41 AM - Tommy T: more to come in a bit
Aug 30, 2012 10:40 AM - Tommy T: A number of centuries ago Wraith, then known by another name, died in a struggle against creatures of the Far Realm. As his soul wandered around about the Shadowfell he soon came across Letherna, the domain of The Raven Queen.
Aug 30, 2012 10:28 AM - Tommy T: Right now, aside from a few minor details, I'll be playing Wraith a Revenant (Tiefling) Hexblade (Gloom pact). His PP is Turathi Highborn (Tiefling racial) and ED is Prince of Hell.
Aug 29, 2012 2:49 PM - Kenny P: I think there was the option of substituting a rare or wondrous for an uncommon. Is this still okay, Dan?
Aug 29, 2012 2:16 PM - Capt_Dan: One only Dragon fighting feat/item/power; 5 items, level or lower including one rare, one uncommon and a wonderous, if desired - OR 4 items, two rares. 100gp. See from the bottom for other details.
Aug 29, 2012 1:53 PM - Tommy T: Could someone just reiterate the starting item/gold rules being used? Thanks.
Aug 29, 2012 12:58 PM - Tommy T: I'm very sorry, T Michael. You have my (and Deirdre's) condolences.
Aug 29, 2012 12:54 PM - Vlad: My condolences, Michael
Aug 29, 2012 12:12 PM - Kenny P: Michael, I'm sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family.
Aug 29, 2012 10:56 AM - Capt_Dan: Yes, sorry - that's to fit Tracy. Scheduling never gets easy. I'm sticking with this now, if anything needs changing, please bring it up at the first session, and we can quickly thrash it out.
Aug 29, 2012 10:54 AM - AVacc: Dan - sorry to be a bother but one of the dates is set to Thursday the 20th now.
Aug 29, 2012 10:51 AM - Capt_Dan: T Michael, my sincere condolences. Please keep your seat, I'll push the limit to six and see what happens.
Aug 29, 2012 10:38 AM - AVacc: T Michael - Sorry to hear it...
Aug 29, 2012 10:38 AM - AVacc: Ah right - labor day - Welldone!!!
Aug 29, 2012 10:35 AM - Capt_Dan: Yes, Monday's Labor day, right? I think there was a chance I had something else on.
Aug 29, 2012 10:34 AM - T Michael: Unfortunate news: my mom died yesterday and the visitation and funeral are next tuesday and wednesday. You guys should feel free to commence without me.
Aug 29, 2012 10:29 AM - AVacc: Mondays are perfect for me but the first session is set to Tuesday - this is fine - just checking if that is what was intended.
Aug 29, 2012 10:15 AM - Capt_Dan: First, Au bon gout, because it works for me - unless someone wants to pitch for somewhere else? Days - not set. I'm happy to leave them as Mondays for now, unless others have a preference?
Aug 29, 2012 9:33 AM - AVacc: Where are we playing?
Aug 29, 2012 9:23 AM - AVacc: Just to be clear - we are starting on Tuesday and then continuing on Mondays?
Aug 29, 2012 2:44 AM - Kenny P: In seclusion, Anyanka wove one grand conjury of Art after another. She harnessed the power of the eidolon and created a planar gate called Siege Numinous. With it, she filled her tower with artifacts and oddities from countless worlds. She now hopes to add to her collection the bound essence of all dragonkind. http://tinyurl.com/cx8s9gg
Aug 29, 2012 2:39 AM - Kenny P: Leaving behind a legacy to safeguard the kingdom, Anyanka returned to the place of her rebirth, the land now called the Sea of Dust. She traveled deep into the wastelands until locating the hidden domain of her former master. Amidst the sand-blasted ruins of her past, she raised a tower with no doors or windows and reawakened the ancient wards that kept out unwanted visitors.
Aug 29, 2012 2:39 AM - Kenny P: For a period of time, she traveled with a band of heroes under an alias. She kept her true nature hidden from her companions, who thought her a human woman with a skill in swordsmanship that bordered on the supernatural. After amassing a small fortune, she retired from the band and simply disappeared. Anyanka resurfaced sometime later as court magician to a succession of kings. She has defended her protectorate against monstrous invaders, would-be conquerors, and even rivals to her own power.
Aug 29, 2012 2:39 AM - Kenny P: The sundering of her soul transmogrified her; a new creature emerged from the conflagration of magic. A pair of great crimson horns curved out from her brow. Her once limpid eyes have turned into pools of blazing hellfire. The smoke cleared to show shapely legs ending in cloven feet and a slim red tail lashing the air behind her. Grianne seíTanis was no more, only Anyanka remained. http://tinyurl.com/cdnt6lh
Aug 29, 2012 2:22 AM - Kenny P: The inevitable clash between master and apprentice saw much devastation and ruin. Eldritch energies ripped through the combatants, the former trying to devour the latterís soul. When the battle reached fever pitch, all hell broke loose. Literally. Demons spilled forth from dimensional rifts and the land itself shattered. In one last desperate gambit, Grianne cleaved her own life essence and forged a weapon with which she slew her teacher and tormentor. http://tinyurl.com/c4ogbrr
Aug 29, 2012 2:21 AM - Kenny P: Magistra. Fiend-quencher. Sorceress Supreme. Her titles may be numerous and deeds varied in accounting, but her power is undeniable. Anyanka came a long way from the humble and pastoral life that was her youth. Born a human named Grianne se'Tanis, she was kidnapped by a rakshasa lord who sought to corrupt and use her soul to free his rajah. As apprentice to the fiend, she grew quickly in body and in the Art. And all the while she plotted her freedom. http://tinyurl.com/d9dwqq2
Aug 27, 2012 2:34 PM - T Michael: Capt_Dan, I am still finalizing, but I will play a version of paladin who fought the winter queen. Epic destiny of a saint, either valiant cavalier or questing knight paragon path. More details to follow soon.
Aug 27, 2012 2:30 PM - Capt_Dan: No problem, I'm only fishing. It's not a given I can get a second day in a week anyway.
Aug 27, 2012 2:16 PM - AVacc: I will be running my campaign - Web of the Spider Queen is starting on Thursday - Sorry about the timing - it did not look like this adventure was going to get off the ground when I picked the dates...
Aug 27, 2012 2:05 PM - Vlad: I could do a second session on any day except for the weekend. And thanks for the additional explanation
Aug 27, 2012 2:05 PM - Capt_Dan: T Michael, do you have a Character? Please stick him up. also, you are all (that haven't aren't) encouraged to put up a little background story on your char, then I will tell yo uexactly where you are right now, and what's happened/about to go down...
Aug 27, 2012 2:03 PM - Capt_Dan: Okay, this starts in just over a week. First, Admin - Could anyone squeeze in a second session next week, thur? I can't confirm that, but if we can get two in it will make it easier when we miss one the week after for Tracy.
Aug 27, 2012 1:54 PM - Capt_Dan: Vlad, extra point on the below stuff - if you are +7 cold/necrotic on a hit, and the damage is already cold/necrotic, then the damage stacks. So if a monster resisted 10 Cold/Necrotic, and you just added +7 C/N it would all be resisted, but if the whole attack is C/N, then the +7 stacks and goes through.
Aug 22, 2012 7:53 AM - Vlad: Gotcha, thanks, Kenny and C_D.
Aug 21, 2012 11:41 PM - Capt_Dan: Kenny's exactly right. If you do 3d10 Weapon/Radiant damage, and you have a power that does +7Necrotic/cold damage, then when you hit it should be ~17 Weapon/Radiant damage, and SEPERATELY 7 Necrotic/Cold. The damage has the keywords, but it doesn't add the keyword to the attack.
Aug 21, 2012 7:49 PM - Kenny P: The thing about Starborn feature is, it's not adding damage "types". It's adding extra damage of certain types. So let's say Oberon has an Intelligence of 24, his Starborn features allows him to deal extra [+7] damage that is radiant/fire. If you cast a cone of cold and add in Starborn, you would be dealing X cold damage plus 7 radiant/fire. (not X+7 cold/radiant/fire)
Aug 21, 2012 6:31 PM - Vlad: Quick question regarding rules, C_D. I am trying to find a definitive answer whether or not adding damage types to a power adds corresponding keywords, but I am not really finding anything solid. So what's your take on it - would you say that having an aura that adds fire + radiant damage to all attacks, for instance, would give those attacks the corresponding keywords?
Aug 21, 2012 2:42 PM - AVacc: BTW - So glad this game got back on track - I am looking forward to it.
Aug 21, 2012 2:41 PM - AVacc: Yeah - I went with Black Iron Elderscale Armor - Resist fire and necrotic :))
Aug 21, 2012 2:35 PM - Kenny P: AVacc, I missed your post about equipment/armor. If you are still deciding on what to get, I suggest getting armor that will either give you various resistances or something that can mitigate nasty conditions. At least 1 reactive healing item is also recommended. I'm curious, what class are you playing? Slayer?
Aug 21, 2012 2:30 PM - AVacc: Herkk just hits stuff. Hard.
Aug 21, 2012 2:25 PM - Vlad: Perfect. My build completely revolves around summons (duh!), so if you're able to recharge dailies frequently, I won't shy away from calling on good old Mazikeen in every fight :P
Aug 21, 2012 2:24 PM - Kenny P: I have a daily that allows all allies to deal +2d6 damage PER melee hit and a stance that grants me a MBA as a minor, which should help with the damage output. I also gain big temps whenever my mark is violated. And then there's her regeneration. Dear gods, the regeneration. That is all, for now. :D
Aug 21, 2012 2:15 PM - Kenny P: Awesome! I built my swordmage around being IMMENSELY durable with lots of silly shenanigans set to go off in a fight. Don't be afraid to use those dailies and daily item powers early! Anya will wipe away all fatigue with a snap of her perfectly manicured fingers. (mid-battle if it comes down to it)
Aug 21, 2012 1:35 PM - T Michael: Maybe Saint Balthazar wants a piece of Tiamat? I can play him as a normal paladin or if there is more need for a striker, then I can convert him to a blackguard.
Aug 21, 2012 12:25 PM - Capt_Dan: With Avaccs Web of the SpiderQueen, I'm much less concerned about running a low level adventure.
Aug 21, 2012 12:24 PM - Capt_Dan: Tracy, if you want to stay in this for now, I'm quite happy to work around your week off. I'll have to gin-up some hideous cliff hanger...
Aug 20, 2012 10:54 PM - Capt_Dan: Yooou betcha.
Aug 20, 2012 10:16 PM - Kenny P: Budget? The Magistra is the sorcerer supreme, the authority of arcane law. There is no such thing as budget. She can craft a magic item in the blink of an eyestalk. :P

P.S. I believe it's only one anti-dragon "thing" per character. *in thick Greek accent* am i Right?
Aug 20, 2012 6:49 PM - Vlad: Alas my item budget is way too tight with all those high level goodies to fit that orb in.
Aug 20, 2012 6:40 PM - Kenny P: Hey Vlad, Oberon doesn't happen to have an orb of dragonkind, does he? I'm thinking of equipping my character with one, and if we both had a certain kind, it'd be awesome.
Aug 20, 2012 5:28 PM - Tommy T: I might be able to swing this. I'll know in a couple days.
Aug 20, 2012 4:07 PM - Capt_Dan: I'll definitely run this. I'm just thinking it might be worth putting up something low level, otherwise we're drawing in new players, but then offering them very little...
Aug 20, 2012 3:12 PM - Vlad: Hm, well. With two weeks still to go, I hope the game does pick up a couple more players.
Aug 20, 2012 3:03 PM - James L: It was full, then fell apart. Dan, what about running the "Drow Encounters Season 9" or "Baba Yaga's Dancing Hut" or a whole different offering of the new "Undermountain" box set. 1 part should only be 3-4 sessions.
Aug 20, 2012 2:58 PM - Capt_Dan: Hmmm, if this doesn't gain a little more traction, I may park it until after Christmas, and run a low level mod, either Slaying Stone or Stonefang Pass for newer players...
Aug 17, 2012 7:37 PM - Capt_Dan: "have to"
Aug 17, 2012 7:31 PM - Capt_Dan: I was going to say I could see if I could flip this with Giants, but that wouldn't help you... Tracy, I'll see how it goes, if I have a space in a week, I'll investigate having a skipped week to accomodate you.
Aug 17, 2012 5:49 PM - Kenny P: Et tu, Tracy?! smh
Aug 17, 2012 5:46 PM - Vlad: I come prepared for all eventualities. I have an army of them at my fingertips!
Aug 17, 2012 5:46 PM - Kenny P: Careful what you wish for. My character might steal your demon away from you. buahaha! >:D
Aug 17, 2012 5:39 PM - Vlad: Mazikeen (my marilith) would be happy to take advantage of that, lest you think of retraining it, Kenny!
Aug 17, 2012 5:36 PM - Kenny P: GAH!!! Noooooo. I built a beautiful dance partner for Teetu. Together, they would've made short work of any enemy. (Sigil of Enmity + ranger mult-attacks = pwnage)
Aug 17, 2012 5:36 PM - Capt_Dan: I'm confident we'll fill your spot. Remember, guys, I can move to other days as necessary.
Aug 17, 2012 5:28 PM - Matt H: Unfortunately I've had some conflicts come up and will have to drop from this one...why is scheduling so tough?

Aug 17, 2012 5:21 PM - Kenny P: I've been thinking about what we're about to face (a god!) and believe that without someone to take most of the hits (slash reduce damage to allies), we will go down FAST. So, I'll bring the character I played with in my first epic game, Prince of Undeath. (never got to finish it, sadly)

It will be an updated/revised version of Tiefling Swordmage/Prince of Hell. I'm going for the Sorcerer Supreme thematic build.
Aug 15, 2012 10:19 PM - Tracy: Machine: Inspiring Warlord/Dark Watcher/Demigod

19:End to Games / 20:Righteous Disruption
Aug 15, 2012 9:56 PM - Tracy: Excerpt from Machine. -3048s. SOW: "Canary" Elsir Vale: 1306;

"Today we lost Cluge and there is nothing we can do about it. I'd blame the sentient platinum sword we found but it wasn't exactly so linear. Go to Fortress Graystone it said...At least I know, if ever I want to see him again - I can go back there. He makes a very heroic looking statue, but I vow - no other creature under my watch will be lost, and I will now care for this stupid 'tweeting' bird."
Aug 15, 2012 9:31 PM - Tracy: Excerpt from Machine. -3048s. SOW: "Meatbags" Elsir Vale: 1305;

"Perhaps I have been too harsh in my assessment of these creatures. Perhaps referring to them as meatbags is counterproductive to my understanding of them. I will make an effort from here on out to do better in my understanding.
Aug 15, 2012 12:45 PM - Vlad: Evard's Black Tentacles / Cloudkill for 19, and Rimefire Brute for 20.
Aug 15, 2012 12:31 PM - Kenny P: Hey guys. Can you tell me your 19th and 20th level powers? If you listed your paragon path, I already know the 20th. This would save us the trouble of me asking during the game. Thx
Aug 15, 2012 10:10 AM - Vlad: Oberon is a relatively new star, but he burns brighter than many of his kin. (http://tinyurl.com/4jc6crx - thats him on the right there). During his mortal life he used to be a Genasi, living a hermitís life in the Breach, perfecting the art of demon summoning. After his ascension, he mellowed out and now whittles away his eternity by bathing his planetary system in stupendous amounts of solar radiation.
Aug 15, 2012 10:10 AM - Vlad: However, every once in a while, Oberon still looks back at the Prime Material plane and concerns himself with its troubles. Since seeing through time poses no challenge at all to a star, Oberon was able to see that the inevitable destruction of mortals is the only outcome of the Bahamut v. Tiamat struggle and decided to intervene on behalf of mortals by eliminating Tiamat.
Aug 15, 2012 10:09 AM - Vlad: Since the Dragon Queen would be ripped apart by tidal forces, or roasted alive by Oberonís natural brilliance in his true form, he decided to give her a sporting chance by manifesting in a (semi)-mortal shell (http://tinyurl.com/bm9qc5k). He also called on his old demon ally Ė Mazikeen Ė who is a highly ranking marilith general in the Tanaríri army. She was rejoiced to see her old lover and pledged the entirety of her Tanaríri squad to support Oberonís cause. (Genasi, Rimetongue, Radiant One)
Aug 15, 2012 3:23 AM - Tracy: "Upon escorting this old meatbag outside, Cluge asked, quite politely and enamored I might add, if he could care for one of these tweeting birds. The old meatbag 'tweeted' an affirmative, and we've been baby sitting since. I've never witnessed such a change in a single meatbag individual in all my years on this continent. He genuinely seems to have turned a new leaf and is putting another creature before him..."
Aug 15, 2012 3:18 AM - Tracy: "We discovered this meatbag, a human, who was trapped in this dungeon. When we rescued him, he did not but 'tweet' at us. He had no more and no less than 7 canaries that also 'tweeted' around him. Regardless of what we asked him, he 'tweeted' all the same. To my surprise, Cluge took him under his wing, you might say. I believe that is what you meatbags call a pun.
Aug 15, 2012 3:12 AM - Tracy: Excerpt from Machine. -3048s. SOW: "The Old Man With the Birds" Elsir Vale: 1302;

"Not a day goes by that these meatbags don't surprise me. Today I witnessed the most amazing thing. We hired a thief, Cluge they call him, to me he appeared to be self centered, completely interested in himself, and himself only...but today whilst, adventuring - he did the most amazing thing...

Aug 15, 2012 1:34 AM - Kenny P: Wax is a Changeling Rogue (MC Executioner/Binder) with perma-stealth, even with OAs. He too is armed to the nines with an assortment of weapons to fit any situation. His favorite... Big Baby.
Aug 15, 2012 1:23 AM - Kenny P: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This is one of the fundamental laws of the universe. Teetu's arrival from the future did not go unnoticed by the Powers That Be, chief among them being the Raven Queen. Sensing a great disturbance in the tapestry of Fate, she tasked her champion, Wax [the Changing Man], with ensuring the survival of Tiamat. If he cannot, then HE, and he alone, must be the one to deliver the killing blow. Fate demands no less.
Aug 15, 2012 12:53 AM - AVacc: Anyone care to make suggestions for equipment and armor? I have all the Axe feats...
Aug 15, 2012 12:40 AM - Kenny P: Hopefully, he won't end up being Bishop. Teehee
Aug 15, 2012 12:04 AM - Capt_Dan: I thought it was along those lines... those ridiculous Bards... I take it back. He's not Cable, he's Macgyver, if Macgyver had been sent back to stop the Terminator...
Aug 14, 2012 11:17 PM - Capt_Dan: It's level 30. You should be doing six silly things before breakfast! So, Teetu is Cable? I didn't realise you could so thoroughly multi-class... I'm not complaining, mind. It's Level 30, People!
Aug 14, 2012 7:43 PM - Kenny P: I just thought of something silly. Magister @ level 30, with the Fantastic Recuperation ritual. That's 2 extended rests for the entire party, as a STANDARD action! ;)
Aug 14, 2012 6:58 PM - Kenny P: I opted for 1 rare, 1 uncommon, 1 wondrous, and 2 commons; Gloaming Armor, Ring of Tenacious Will, Endless Quiver, Periapt of Wound Closure, and Devastating Ki Focus. (the ring lets me use CHA mod for # of surges, which I'll need undoubtedly)
Aug 14, 2012 4:47 PM - Capt_Dan: Sure, you can have three uncommon, two common, or five common, - essentially, Rare/Uncommon/Wonderous can also be a lesser item. Just let me know what you guys hav egone for.
Aug 14, 2012 4:39 PM - Tracy: Last question...probably...instead of a rare/wonderous can we sub for uncommon?
Aug 14, 2012 4:25 PM - Tracy: CD do we still start with the potion of recovery as indicated in the house rules?
Aug 14, 2012 4:03 PM - Tracy: I think we're on the right path then. Machine can use Inspiring Word 4 times an encounter doing up to 6d6 + 30 (with proper set up) healing (or forgo extra dice of healing to make saving throw) and gain 8 temp hit points. Allies that spend an action point get a saving throw with +8 bonus and 23 temp hit points. He also wears plate and carries a heavy shield to (kinda) offset not having a tank.
Aug 14, 2012 3:57 PM - Capt_Dan: 2 leaders and 3 strikers, is actually not TOO batshit insane, as long as the strikers aren't too squishy, and the Leaders can either avoid/handle trouble...
Aug 14, 2012 3:50 PM - Tracy: Matt are you going Skald or Bard Bard.

I like the idea of having 2 leaders and 3 strikers. Never played in a party like that (and should speed combat up with a lot of hard hits flying around).
Aug 14, 2012 3:39 PM - Capt_Dan: ...or misdirection...
Aug 14, 2012 3:38 PM - Tracy: Sheesh, spoiler alert! :p
Aug 14, 2012 3:18 PM - Capt_Dan: Exactly that. Inevitably, everything you're fighting here is Dragons or Dragonkind, so building the "worlds greatest Dragonslayer Paladin" would just be... annoying. Don't be Ellis.
Aug 14, 2012 2:44 PM - Kenny P: Dan, can you clarify what you meant with "no more than ONE feat/power/item etc specifically targeting/nullifying etc. Dragons"? You mean anti-Dragon stuff like dragonslayer weapons, orbs of dragonkind and paragon paths like dragonslayer/antithesis/steelsky etc? If so, you won't have to worry about that from me. Nothing in my build is anti-dragon. :P
Aug 14, 2012 1:32 PM - Capt_Dan: Finally, once you've worked out your character, make sure to give Race/Class/Paragon/Epic Destiny, and a little RP schtick as well. Not every mook just 'gets' to indulge in Deicide every day, you know...
Aug 14, 2012 1:30 PM - Capt_Dan: On the other hand, I am a benevolent dictator, so, when building characters, you can take FIVE items, any level. They can include one RARE, one uncommon and a wonderous, if you so wish. Alternatively, you can take just FOUR items, but two can be rare. Let me know what you go for.
Aug 14, 2012 1:27 PM - Capt_Dan: A few points on Character creation, while we're on it. I really dislike meta-power-gaming SO - no more than ONE feat/power/item etc specifically targeting/nullifying etc. Dragons. ONE.
Aug 14, 2012 12:45 PM - Tracy: I'm leaning towards Warforged Warlord...really just because I played him from levels 1-16 playing through the Scales of War mod before we got bored with poor story design and dropped it. He deserves a chance to see it through to the end.
Aug 14, 2012 3:31 AM - Kenny P: I'm bringing Wax, the changeling rogue I played in Matt's epic Glorious Hunt module. (the same one in which our party was defeated)
