Introductory D&D Adventure
Cost: $0.00
Level: 1

First Session: Saturday -- November 3rd, 2012 -- 12:00 PM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 1 session

This is a level 1 adventure run by a Meetup Dungeon Master to introduce new players to the meetup, to the Campaign Gaming rules, and to teach people how to play Dungeons & Dragons. Of course long-term meetup members are welcome to join in the fun and meet new members, but brand new members get priority seating via an artificially inflated 100 RSVP score.

This is not always the same D&D adventure. The Dungeon Masters are given a list of level 1 adventures to choose from. They will state in the comments section the name of the adventure and a little teaser text on what players can look forward to.

Look for Dungeon Master's who have earned high numbers in the "DM Feedback" section next to their name. If they have not earned votes, they themselves are most likely beginners, or not vetted by this meetup yet. It is like buying something from someone on Ebay that has no feedback: you are taking all the risk into your own hands. Also avoid Dungeon Master's who do not put a real picture of themselves on their profile.

Nov 1, 2012 7:42 PM - agustin: Hello James, I live very close to Compleat Strategist. ConEd has advised power their customers will return Saturday night at 11PM.
Nov 1, 2012 5:16 PM - Cpt.Galactic: Hi, names Othello and I'm new to the city. Moved here from Austin, TX. I'm totally interested in playing again as I have lots of experience playlist mg 3 and 3.5 rules and have run a couple of my own games including D20 Star Wars campaignes as well. I'm new to this so I don't know where to meet or what. Are you guys still looking for a place to play?
Nov 1, 2012 12:44 PM - Rob R: I'm in with James. I went batty for 5 days there. Plus my Friday game is effectively cancelled unless powere gets restored to downtown AND the subway runs below 34th st. SO I'm willing to make GREAT efforts to get in a game on Saturday.
Nov 1, 2012 11:10 AM - Matt H: I talked to the Compleat Strategist yesterday; they're not sure if they'll be open on Saturday, but they're going to try.
Nov 1, 2012 10:46 AM - James L: I must say being trapped in the house is driving me crazy with boredom! If any of you can make it out somewhere Saturday, I'll be there ready to play or run a D&D Next Playtest.
Nov 1, 2012 10:36 AM - James L: I reached Cafe Au Bon Gout and they are open. I couldn't reach the Compleat Strat. Is Citicenter open? anyone know?
Oct 31, 2012 11:32 PM - reinaldo: as am i
Oct 31, 2012 9:04 PM - Tim: Matt, Mary and I are still interested, just let us know what the plan is.
Oct 31, 2012 1:58 PM - Matt H: Just checking in in light of the storm...it's unclear if the Compleat Strategist will be open on Saturday, or if MTA service will have resumed.

Is everyone who's signed up still planning on coming if we can figure something out?
Oct 27, 2012 12:15 AM - reinaldo: awesome thank you so much, i'm excited for next saturday
Oct 26, 2012 11:44 PM - Matt H: Reinaldo - I'll have pregenerated characters for anybody who needs one and dice you can borrow, and the store sells everything if you'd like to pick up some of your own.
Oct 26, 2012 7:27 PM - reinaldo: i'm curious, since i'm new i don't have anything so will i be able to borrow dice scoreboards or should i just save money to buy things when i get there?
Oct 26, 2012 3:21 PM - wberriel: But last time I was playing my rsvp was like 5.
Oct 26, 2012 3:17 PM - wberriel: Well it has been over a year since I last played.
Oct 26, 2012 3:15 PM - Matt H: New players are given 100 points for introductory games, to help make sure you get a seat. Don't forget to Commit to save a seat once you decide if you can make it.
Oct 26, 2012 3:13 PM - wberriel: My score is waay too high. But I might finally be able to play DnD again.
Oct 26, 2012 2:27 PM - Matt H: This is "Prey for Smiley Bob" from Dungeon #205, an adventure for five level one characters.

For years, the halflings of Riversly Homestead have coexisted peacefully with a ferocious bear they call Smiley Bob (because of the mouth-to-ear scar on the bear's face). Twice in the past week, however, Smiley Bob has sneaked onto the homestead, grabbed a halfling by the britches, and taken off with his prize. Can the PCs solve this ursine dilemma, or will the halflings just have to grin and bear it?
