Introductory D&D Adventure
Cost: $0.00
Level: 1

First Session: Tuesday -- November 13th, 2012 -- 7:00 PM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 1 session

This is a level 1 adventure run by a Meetup Dungeon Master to introduce new players to the meetup, to the Campaign Gaming rules, and to teach people how to play Dungeons & Dragons. Of course long-term meetup members are welcome to join in the fun and meet new members, but brand new members get priority seating via an artificially inflated 100 RSVP score.

This is not always the same D&D adventure. The Dungeon Masters are given a list of level 1 adventures to choose from. They will state in the comments section the name of the adventure and a little teaser text on what players can look forward to.

Look for Dungeon Master's who have earned high numbers in the "DM Feedback" section next to their name. If they have not earned votes, they themselves are most likely beginners, or not vetted by this meetup yet. It is like buying something from someone on Ebay that has no feedback: you are taking all the risk into your own hands. Also avoid Dungeon Master's who do not put a real picture of themselves on their profile.

Nov 14, 2012 11:49 AM - Ross H: That was a lot of fun! FYI, I put up a one-shot level one adventure a couple weeks from now, if you're interested. I can guarantee you the presence of a giant bear. So you KNOW it's going to be good.
Nov 14, 2012 11:09 AM - John McCullough: Voting is up.
Nov 14, 2012 12:24 AM - Debbie Y.: I had fun today. Thank you for being awesome. Those stone giants were tough!!!!
Nov 14, 2012 12:04 AM - Zach: thanks for the fun tonight folks. glad it all worked out in the end too.
Nov 13, 2012 6:46 PM - Debbie Y.: I think I am here.
Nov 13, 2012 6:00 PM - Zach: On my way. Hopefully the subway isn't running too delayed. See you folks soon.
Nov 13, 2012 3:25 PM - Brad Shaw: I would like a Bard if possible. Could be human, elf, or half-elf. No preference really.
Nov 13, 2012 12:53 PM - Capt_Dan: Got just the thing...
Nov 13, 2012 12:31 PM - Zach: If you have a Dragonborn Sorcerer that would be awesome Dan.
Nov 13, 2012 11:51 AM - James L: I changed the website so that new people get a highly increased RSVP score for their first three games instead of just the first one.
Nov 13, 2012 11:22 AM - Ross H: Staff, please!
Nov 13, 2012 11:22 AM - Capt_Dan: Staff, Wand, tome or Orb? (it's full service here...)
Nov 13, 2012 11:15 AM - Ross H: Dan, I'd take a human wizard. I forgot to pick up minis this morning, so otherwise I'll be a human wizard who looks a lot like an orc lady with a big hammer. We'll call that my "wand".
Nov 13, 2012 10:17 AM - Capt_Dan: Also - does anyone have any mini requests?
Nov 13, 2012 10:17 AM - Capt_Dan: I think we got plenty of bases covered, so you should just build whatever striker you like, and go with that.
Nov 13, 2012 10:13 AM - Zach: so im bring a bunch of different striker type classes. If I read this right we have a battlemind, bard, wizard/druid, and some sort of healer class. yea?
Nov 13, 2012 7:12 AM - chtfld: Hey everyone - very sorry for canceling last minute. I really wanted to be there - this one was perfect for me to get back into things, but I had something urgent come up. Have fun!
Nov 12, 2012 11:51 PM - Zach: rock on. ill bring a striker then
Nov 12, 2012 11:36 PM - John McCullough: Well, I've made a battlemind, but I'll be happy to use a pregen as well to round out the party. See everyone tomorrow.
Nov 12, 2012 4:16 PM - Zach: Looks like we need a tank. I had a good time playing one before so if you guys want I can make one of those too. I guess I'll bring a few different ones and whatever we need I'll play. Looking forward to it.
Nov 12, 2012 4:05 PM - Capt_Dan: (Upstairs, at the back)
Nov 12, 2012 4:04 PM - Capt_Dan: Sorry about that - Au Bon Gout, corner of 30&5th. Usually lasts between 3.5-4 hrs - we should be done by 11pm. As I said, I'll bring characters, so people can pick what works for them and rounds out the party as we start.
Nov 12, 2012 4:00 PM - chtfld: Dan, apologies if I missed this somewhere - where will this be? Also what's the usual duration of an intro run like this? Thank again for putting this together!
Nov 12, 2012 3:55 PM - chtfld: I'm down for anything that fits the group - admittedly have no idea where to start anymore (been a lot of years!) Remember enjoying more of the hack and slash style though.
Nov 12, 2012 3:48 PM - Capt_Dan: John, I'll bring the Red-box pre-gens, I have them on a nice card print out, so they are pretty easy to use. If you don't have anything on Tuesday, they'll be fine to play, and cover all the bases.
Nov 12, 2012 3:13 PM - Ross H: It looks like we could use a controller, so I'll plan on bringing one of those. Probably a druid or wizard-y sort.
Nov 12, 2012 1:30 PM - Zach: I wouldnt mind playing a rogue/barbarian either if you want to tackle the ranged class Debbie. I'm easy.
Nov 12, 2012 1:23 PM - Debbie Y.: Hi, I am interested to try a characters that heals or ranged.
Nov 12, 2012 9:12 AM - John McCullough: Brad, sounds good. Debbie, chtfld, Ross? Preferences?
Nov 11, 2012 6:28 PM - Brad Shaw: I just updated my character. I was planning on using the premade that James L. Has posted online.
Nov 11, 2012 12:45 PM - John McCullough: So, Brad, chtfld, or Debbie, do you know what kind of character you would like to play?
Dan, what sort of pre-gens are you bringing?
Nov 10, 2012 1:49 PM - Debbie Y.: Oh! That makes a lot of sense. Thank you for explaining.
Nov 10, 2012 10:43 AM - James L: Debbie the points changed, because you are no longer a first time player. All brand new first timers get a 100 score for "Introductory Games". chtfld and Brad Shaw have never played here before so they get a 100 score for this, which would be their first game ever.
Nov 10, 2012 2:20 AM - Debbie Y.: Hi Dan, I am curious. How come my RSVP points in this game went from 100 to 1?
Nov 9, 2012 11:24 PM - Capt_Dan: That is no problem at all, BradI pushed the players to 6. I know Ross and John, this should be good.
Nov 9, 2012 9:52 PM - Brad Shaw: Hi! I am really excited to learn how to play! I was going to play the Half-Elf Bard premade character if that is alright.
Nov 8, 2012 6:02 PM - Zach: ive got the elementalist down, but id be willing to play a different type of character if need be as well. whatever we end up needing. i dig character creation so im easy.
Nov 8, 2012 4:42 PM - John McCullough: Welcome new players. If you folks have a rough idea what sort of characters you want to play, I'm happy to fill in any missing role in the party.
Nov 8, 2012 4:31 PM - Debbie Y.: I want to learn how.
Nov 8, 2012 4:14 PM - Debbie Y.: Hi Dan. If its not too much of a hassle, could you help me makke one?
Nov 8, 2012 4:06 PM - Capt_Dan: If anyone would like me to provide a character, please say; alternately, I'm happy to help with creating your own.
Nov 8, 2012 3:17 PM - Capt_Dan: Glad to have you!
Nov 8, 2012 2:03 PM - Ross H: Not enough D&D lately. Dan, mind if I hop in and kill some things? Happy to fill whatever role needs filling.
Nov 7, 2012 2:48 AM - Debbie Y.: Yay! Could I ask where the location of this would be at? CitiCenter?
Nov 6, 2012 5:59 PM - Zach: im definitely interested. thanks for putting this together. hopefully it comes through.
Nov 6, 2012 3:05 PM - Capt_Dan: An intro game - depending on interest/ preference, I could run an RPGA game instead...
