Tears of the Crocodile God
Cost: $0.00
Level: 15

First Session: Wednesday -- June 5th, 2013 -- 4:00 PM
[Eastern Time]

Approx. Length: 3 sessions

Every year before the floods, the immortal high priest Nephalot feeds a few of Bansouk’s eldest children to the Crocodile God—an immense, sacred crocodile adorned with jewels. Those who perish in his Weeping Labyrinth grant new life to the deity, ensuring a plentiful harvest for the seasons to come and securing their place in paradise—or so the high priest says.

This adventure feels like a throwback to the days of classic dungeon adventure design, but with great atmosphere and lots of rich detail.

Jun 20, 2013 11:00 AM - Tracy: I also had a lot of fun and thank you for allowing me to test this mod without the map or minis. This is how I enjoy playing DnD. :)
Jun 20, 2013 10:41 AM - Rob R: Thanks everyone and nicely done Tracy
Jun 20, 2013 6:52 AM - AVacc: Great game! Thanks again!
Jun 20, 2013 12:54 AM - Kenny P: I had a great time guys. Tracy, never a dull moment with you at the table. :D
Jun 19, 2013 6:59 PM - AVacc: I have a table near the piano
Jun 19, 2013 10:19 AM - Jason P.: That is to say, feel free to start without me.
Jun 19, 2013 10:18 AM - Jason P.: I'll be there late, but I'll be there.
Jun 18, 2013 4:13 PM - Tracy: See you tomorrow at Citi Center! No need to bring a sweat rag.
Jun 10, 2013 5:15 PM - Kenny P: And the ouchies! Hope you get well soon.
Jun 10, 2013 5:07 PM - Tracy: No worries guys. We will skip this week and finish on the 19th. I fust got out of the ER with a torn ligament in my thumb and im casted up. Looks like this week contacted a case of the busies!
Jun 10, 2013 2:19 PM - Kenny P: Okay, it looks like Tuesday is the day. I can do it, but I will have to leave around 10:30 pm.
Jun 10, 2013 1:24 PM - AVacc: So sorry but I am out of town Thursday
Jun 10, 2013 11:55 AM - Rob R: If it works for everyone else I can switch to Thursday this week.
Jun 10, 2013 10:40 AM - Jason P.: Thursday would be the only possible day then. I'm gone this weekend starting Friday night.
Jun 10, 2013 7:53 AM - AVacc: I've contracted jury duty so I am not even in the city today. Also Wednesday is particularly hard for me this week...
Jun 10, 2013 2:48 AM - Kenny P: Apologies for the late post. I cannot do Monday or Tuesday. :(
Jun 9, 2013 9:42 PM - Rob R: Sorry for not posting sooner - I can do Monday or Tuesday.
Jun 6, 2013 10:46 AM - Tracy: I have printed out each room that I had left on the printer at work. Next time instead of having it on the iPad you can place your mini on the sheet for represenation purposes.
Jun 6, 2013 9:47 AM - Jason P.: I can't do Monday. Tuesday might be a possibility. The combat was good, the one thing I struggled with was imagining everyone's positioning. Maybe we could use tokens? Doesn't have to be on the grid, it would just be to show relative positioning.
Jun 6, 2013 9:35 AM - AVacc: I can do Monday and Wed is REALLY bad for me next week...
Jun 6, 2013 9:04 AM - Tracy: Howdy all! I had a lot of fun last night and I have to admit, that was my first grid/mini less 4.e session, but I think it worked out better than I expected. When we did finally get to combat I felt it went super quick...less than 20 minutes. I'm excited for next time. Which brings me to next week - can anyone here do Mon or Tuesday instead of Wednesday? If not I can work it out. :)
Jun 5, 2013 4:49 PM - Tracy: Reminder Au Bon Gout.
Jun 5, 2013 4:27 PM - Kenny P: Owlbear don't care. Owlbear don't give a hoot! :P
Jun 5, 2013 4:13 PM - AVacc: :)
Jun 5, 2013 4:07 PM - Tracy: Just try to pick one that makes sense for your character and role playing. If I see an owlbear companion he will most likely be eaten by a purple worm in an outhouse.
Jun 5, 2013 3:42 PM - AVacc: Not I
Jun 5, 2013 3:40 PM - Kenny P: Unless someone else with Dungeoneering took it.
Jun 5, 2013 3:33 PM - Kenny P: Does anyone have Thievery trained? If not, I'll take the Dungeon Experience feat.
Jun 5, 2013 1:26 PM - Kenny P: No, they are not campaign specific.
Jun 5, 2013 1:20 PM - AVacc: These are Eberron themes?
Jun 5, 2013 1:19 PM - Kenny P: To save some time for Tracy, I've compiled themes suggested for arcane/construct/defender types.

Earthforger, Guardian, Ironwrought, Mercenary, Occultist, Order Adept, Scholar, Underdark (Khyber) Outcast, Wizard's Apprentice.
Jun 5, 2013 12:36 PM - AVacc: Actually - it does not fit my character... Tracy - if you have some suggestions great - if not I am just going to go without a theme
Jun 5, 2013 12:30 PM - Kenny P: There is one, the Sentinel Marshal. DR407

And some of the current non-DS/FR themes can be reflavored to Eberron.
Jun 5, 2013 12:27 PM - AVacc: That is actually pretty good. I took it :)
Jun 5, 2013 12:17 PM - AVacc: There are no Eberron themes in DDI
Jun 5, 2013 12:15 PM - Jason P.: There are Eberron themes?
Jun 5, 2013 11:19 AM - Tracy: Please excuse typos. iPhones are apparently much smarter than me.
Jun 5, 2013 11:19 AM - AVacc: T Michael - You will be missed - good luck with the move.
Jun 5, 2013 11:18 AM - Tracy: Hi all, lets make a few changes. Since its 4 if you, bring a level 17 character and pick an appropriate Eberron theme. Also weather us nice lets do Au bob gout as its easier for me. The other surprise will be at the table. Don't worry t Michael if everything goes as planned and works well I'm going to run this again.
Jun 5, 2013 8:29 AM - T Michael: I am so sorry to do this, but I have just been hit with a freight train of scheduling conflicts (out of town travel combined with having to move my family of six out of our apartment in two weeks). I have been so excited for this mod and my character and am super disappointed to drop and am so sorry to drop last minute.
Jun 3, 2013 5:55 AM - Jason P.: Rogue if Rob is playing his warlord, bard if he can't make it.
Jun 3, 2013 12:35 AM - Kenny P: Jason, what class are you playing?
Jun 3, 2013 12:22 AM - Tracy: Yes! Hop in :)
Jun 2, 2013 9:28 PM - Kenny P:
Tracy, can I join?
Jun 2, 2013 9:10 PM - Matt H: As much as I wanted to play this one, I'm going to have to bow out -- just too much going on in the next couple of weeks. Good luck, roll well, and make that gator cry.
May 29, 2013 8:38 PM - Tracy: Wed. June 5th. The schedule will commence as posted.
May 29, 2013 5:09 PM - Connolly206: So what day is this thing happening now?
May 28, 2013 4:02 PM - Tracy: Okay, to make it easy I'll push it back 1 week. The extra session isn't scheduled, I just used it to bookmark a 'just in case'. If it looks like we're falling behind I'll shift us from 4th into the speed of plot and we'll be fine.
May 28, 2013 2:11 PM - T Michael: Tracy, push it back a week if you need to.
May 28, 2013 12:39 PM - Rob R: Those damn pesky jobs, getting in the way of our fun. I have similar issues - along w/ others : ( (none too serious - just enough to make my schedule hell). Do what ya gotta do Tracy
May 28, 2013 12:30 PM - Matt H: Tomorrow's the only day this week I could do, and I definitely can't go past 6/19...if that seems necessary to make it work, I can bow out though.
May 28, 2013 11:55 AM - Tracy: Any objections to pushing this out 1 more week? I have a work event that just got bumped to tomorrow that lasts until 8. Likewise, I'm open Friday, Saturday, or Sunday if that works for everyone.
May 24, 2013 8:03 PM - Tracy: You don't by chance know when you will know do you? :)
May 23, 2013 1:18 PM - Rob R: I too may have to drop. I am being pulled in two directions this day. I am trying to resolve my conflict.
May 22, 2013 10:03 AM - T Michael: James, sad to see you drop, but I have been there. We will miss you.
May 22, 2013 9:49 AM - James L: I have to drop this, sorry. My wife is not ready to handle a 20 mo. old and a 1 mo. old all by herself.
May 13, 2013 5:02 PM - Rob R: I gotta go back and check. I know he had a couple of encounters and a daily that granted them. I believe it was mixed.
May 12, 2013 12:00 PM - Matt H: Rob: is your Warlord more of the MBA or RBA granting variety?
May 10, 2013 1:22 PM - T Michael: I am so super-excited for this and am totally fine being the team's controller. Can anyone say a half-elf invoker with a mark of storm and Lyrandar Wind-Rider paragon path.
May 8, 2013 3:24 PM - Tracy: Please keep in mind when making your characters that this module is a nod to classic dungeon crawls. The reason that I put up a fourth session is to encourage you to take a little bit of time investigating, talking amongst each other, and putting the clues together. Success or failure will depend on how intuitive, observant, and inquisitive you are. Always remember in Ebberon...things aren't always what they seem. ;)
May 4, 2013 2:10 PM - Tracy: It is rumored that the time has come again, and that the four Eldest of Bansouk have been selected. Priests of The Sovereign Host have implored you to see what is going on and to try to decipher these rumors and see what dark secrets lay within the Weeping Labyrinth nestled in the swamp below legendary Bansouk. Who dares rise up to this challenge to decipher the puzzles and mysteries that lay within?
May 4, 2013 2:04 PM - Tracy: Nephalot oversaw the construction of the Weeping
Labyrinth—a maze of traps and puzzles encircling
the Crocodile God’s sunken lair. Every summer, the
cult chooses four teenagers and feeds them to the
crocodiles in the labyrinth as tribute. Spectators
travel for miles to attend the killings, eager to hear of Nephalot’s latest deathtraps and lay their bets on who will die first.
May 4, 2013 2:03 PM - Tracy: The Cult of the Crocodile has ruled Bansouk for
a thousand years. Fattened by sacrifices, the deathless Crocodile God pacifies the spirits of
the river, keeping the floods at bay and the soil fertile. The wicked high priest Nephalot interprets its mystic wishes, and for his devotion, the god long ago bestowed upon him the gift of immortality.
May 4, 2013 2:00 PM - Tracy: Atop the Wynarn River lays the thriving settlement of Bansouk. This settlement boasts a population of over 14,500 - the majority halfling artificers and their kin who's ancestors helped to settle this floating city. Buildings are anchored with huge turbines that power the city by the ever churning flow of the river. The original settlers and creators were able to develop this work of wonder by paying tribute, borrowing power, and owing favors to The Cult of the Crocodile.
May 4, 2013 1:52 PM - Tracy: Some believe that the Gloaming formed around a manifest zone linked to a corrupted plane. Between Lake Califar and the Silver Lake flows the mysterious Wynarn River. The Wynarn River defies all natural law and flows straight up into the sky for several miles. The swampy area below the river suffers from perpetual rain and is home to some of the more nefarious denizens of the Eldeen Reaches.
May 4, 2013 1:39 PM - Tracy: Your adventures have brought you into the untamed region known as The Eldeen Reaches. Deep within The Towering Wood, lays The Gloaming, a region where nature revels in its ugliness. Sickened trees droop over parasite-infested soil, and disease-laden insects fill the air with droning.
May 2, 2013 5:45 PM - AVacc: IN 30 years I have never played in Eberron - very much looking forward to this.
May 2, 2013 5:37 PM - T Michael: From Eberron with love! James knows how I have longed for an Eberron campaign game for years. Unfortunately, I am flying to Europe on the 22nd. If the date changes for any reason, I am in with a mark of detection.
May 1, 2013 8:55 PM - Tracy: Oh yeah....

This takes place in Eberron. :)
Apr 16, 2013 12:08 PM - Frank: I wanna play this so bad cause I really enjoyed your player style Tracy it was very nice to meet you too btw just hard on a Wednesday night when I gotta be up at 6 for work and trains run like crap at night
Apr 16, 2013 11:51 AM - Rob R: I have an Eladrin Fighter and Halfling Warlord I can play at this level. I'll go with the Warlord but can switch if needed.
Apr 6, 2013 6:15 PM - Tracy: Just got done reading this and I'm so excited! So many neat traps and puzzles!
