Introductory D&D Adventure
First Session: Saturday -- May 4th, 2013 -- 12:00 PM
Approx. Length: 1 session
This is a level 1 adventure run by a Meetup Dungeon Master to introduce new players to the meetup, to the Campaign Gaming rules, and to teach people how to play Dungeons & Dragons. Of course long-term meetup members are welcome to join in the fun and meet new members, but brand new members get priority seating via an artificially inflated 100 RSVP score.
This is not always the same D&D adventure. The Dungeon Masters are given a list of level 1 adventures to choose from. They will state in the comments section the name of the adventure and a little teaser text on what players can look forward to.
Look for Dungeon Master's who have earned high numbers in the "DM Feedback" section next to their name. If they have not earned votes, they themselves are most likely beginners, or not vetted by this meetup yet. It is like buying something from someone on Ebay that has no feedback: you are taking all the risk into your own hands. Also avoid Dungeon Master's who do not put a real picture of themselves on their profile.

| May 8, 2013 8:22 AM || - Lisa:|| You log back into this rpg connect site, click on this intro to d&d game, and there will be a table on the right side with everyone's name and boxes to click on. I think that if you get 3 votes, you get a point added to your rpg connect ranking.|
| May 8, 2013 6:08 AM || - Denarys:|| Hey Lisa! How do i vote?? I had a great time!|
| May 7, 2013 1:36 PM || - Lisa:|| Thanks for playing everyone. Don't forget to vote. Denarys, sorry you got put on the other table. You can still vote on this table if you want, (including voting for yourself).|
| May 4, 2013 11:47 AM || - Capt_Dan:|| I'm late nut i'm on my way!|
| May 4, 2013 9:26 AM || - Lisa:|| in the past I've been told for this weekend events to show up and you might get squeezed in. But there's no guarantee.|
| May 4, 2013 7:15 AM || - LordRothKar:|| hey i am very new to this whole thing. I was planning on coming to play this sat but i can't tell is there is room or not, its me + 1. we've both never played and would love to play in your introduction game|
| May 1, 2013 10:27 PM || - Sam K.:|| Yeah, I'd be up for it. |
| May 1, 2013 9:13 PM || - Capt_Dan:|| Everyone who isn't in, if I ran something, would you play?|
| Apr 29, 2013 12:36 PM || - Seth:|| Although I'll play the Cleric instead if we end up without another healer. Gotta have one of those.|
| Apr 29, 2013 12:35 PM || - Seth:|| I'll play the Drow Assassin, because that is super badass. Might make it a male rather than a female though (doubt that will be an issue).|
| Apr 29, 2013 12:24 PM || - Martina:|| I would like to try a half elf warlock. :)|
| Apr 29, 2013 10:44 AM || - Lisa:|| @NATALIE, write gnome sorcerer. |
| Apr 29, 2013 10:20 AM || - Natalie:|| I think I may give the Gnome Sorcerer a shot. I am not quite sure what traits to look for in the characters, but Nyx appealed to me :) Should I type in "Gnome Sorcerer" or "Nyx" in the box by my name?|
| Apr 28, 2013 11:43 PM || - Lisa:|| @Jeff, Thanks for letting me know. Up near your name you can write "Dragonborn Paladin." We tend to do that on this site so we make sure to have a defender, leader, striker, and controller in each party, more or less. I'll look over your sheet before the game next week, so I will be able to answer any questions quick. You don't need to do anything else, but if you have questions, feel free to ask. It's complicated, but by playing you get the hang of it.|
| Apr 28, 2013 10:43 PM || - Jeff:|| I figured I'd wanted to start trying out a Paladin, so I think I'll pick out Rhasgar. Anything I should do to prep? I brought some dices already.|
| Apr 28, 2013 8:27 PM || - Lisa:|| Great Capt. I appreciate the help. |
| Apr 28, 2013 12:31 PM || - Capt_Dan:|| Lisa, I have all those pre-gens on card stock, so people can literally pick-up and play on the day. |
| Apr 27, 2013 6:11 PM || - Lisa:|| Thanks James. That link is much better. I would prefer if the players pick a character from James' link because it will be easier for me to point out where info can be found. By the way, I'm running the module "Prey for Smiley Bob." |
| Apr 27, 2013 10:24 AM || - James L:|| I personally like the pregens at this link, they are simpler http://files.meetup.com/47098/DnD_Essentials_pregens.pdf|
| Apr 27, 2013 10:24 AM || - James L:|| Wow Lisa you have all the info|
| Apr 26, 2013 1:48 PM || - Irevilo:|| |
| Apr 25, 2013 9:40 PM || - Capt_Dan:|| Note - if you need dice, you can get them cheaply at the store on the day. |
| Apr 25, 2013 12:55 PM || - Lisa:|| Also the wikipedia page for Character Class (Dungeons & Dragons) has some good information about the class (i.e. jobs) a character can play. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Character_class_%28Dungeons_%26_Dragons%29#4th_edition|
You need to make sure you click to the section in the document about 4th edition. The charts list the types, and you can click through to other wiki pages to learn more about them.
| Apr 25, 2013 12:25 PM || - Lisa:|| @ Natalie. In the 2 .pdf documents I linked to below, there are characters that have already been made and are ready for you to play. For instance, in the first document there is a page that says Dwarf Fighter. Another page says Halfling Rogue. You can look through those to see if you want to play any of them. If you don't know what you want to do, I'll just bring some extra characters and hand them out the day of.|
| Apr 25, 2013 11:23 AM || - Natalie:|| oh my gosh! i am SO excited to have this opportunity to learn! yay! |
though, i am kind of iffy on how to build characters and would really like some guidance, is it imperative that we come with a set character that day?
| Apr 25, 2013 2:24 AM || - Jeff:|| Hopefully I can make it to the meetup, it'll be interesting to learn how to play D&D and to get to know the players as well!|
| Apr 24, 2013 5:44 PM || - Lisa:|| I personally make characters using the Wizards of the Coast character builder. But that requires a sign-up fee, which you probably don't need to invest in until you get more playing in your schedule.|
| Apr 24, 2013 5:42 PM || - Lisa:|| You're welcome Seth. Here's some information for ya: First, the general rules of play can be found here: http://files.meetup.com/47098/D%26D%204th%20ed.%20QuickStartRules.pdf|
This includes some characters in the back of the pdf that you can play. You can find some other pre-generated characters here: http://files.meetup.com/47098/Premade%20lvl%201%20Charcters.pdf
If you want a specific combo of race and class that isn't offered, I can make one and bring it for you.
| Apr 24, 2013 5:13 PM || - Seth:|| Thank you for running this game -- very excited! What is the best way to make a character to bring?|
| Apr 24, 2013 4:18 PM || - Lisa:|| I'll announce the module once I decide on it.|
| Apr 24, 2013 4:18 PM || - Lisa:|| The game will be held in the store The Compleat Strategist located at: 11 E 33rd St New York, NY 10016 (I'll probably be in the basement, so you might need to ask for help finding it.) I ask that you bring paper, pencil and a set of dice, which you can buy at this store before the game if you need to. We can discuss character generation on this board before you come. Otherwise, I will bring some per-generated characters and miniatures. |
| Apr 24, 2013 3:59 PM || - Lisa:|| This game is specifically designed for people who have never played D&D 4th edition, or people who need a refresher course. It's being run by a lady, so don't be scared and jump in.|
