Level: 9

First Session: Saturday -- November 9th, 2013 -- 10:00 AM

In Fantastic Locations: Hellspike Prison, the player characters must thwart the plans of a fiend whose secrets to power over a realm are hidden in an obelish called the Hellspike. Fantastic Locations: Hellspike Prison features two double-sided poster maps designed for roleplaying and miniatures skirmish play. This is a visual treat to see with full color maps, and lots of miniatures.

Face Devils, lots of them, and many of their infernal allies. Even make a trek through the underdark and face down one of the most notorious D&D monsters of all time.

Nov 27, 2013 9:05 PM - Connolly206: I'm in north Carolina and won't be back till Sunday night
Nov 27, 2013 8:40 PM - Tracy: I could swing Saturday!
Nov 26, 2013 12:03 PM - Rob R: Now that I'm feeling much better, how about the party try their hand at tracking down the splinter. I could probably do something this Saturday.
Nov 11, 2013 11:16 AM - Rob R: Thanks, guys. As far as finishing up the mod. This week is bad but I could try to do something maybe the following weekend.
Nov 10, 2013 7:19 PM - Connolly206: Rob that was a great game. Easily my best experience with Next.
Nov 10, 2013 10:11 AM - Tracy: Thanks again Rob! That was awesome fun. :)
Nov 9, 2013 12:17 PM - Connolly206: Guys I just tried to leave my apartment and the building adjacent has fire trucks and a full extended ladder with dudes going up to the roof. I need to wait till thay say im in no danger leaving my cat before I go. it shouldnt be long. sorry
Nov 9, 2013 9:44 AM - Rob R: Also keep in mind I've only played fighters and recently a paladin, so please be familiar with your pcs abilities. At least the basics - your spell DC, when you declare your immediate action (for instance on hit vs on attack, etc)
Nov 9, 2013 9:42 AM - Rob R: James, one of each. a second 9th level might be useful for attrition or reinforcements depending how it goes.
Nov 9, 2013 9:40 AM - Rob R: Tracy we'll discuss magic on site. I was thinking a potion of healing and one magic armor or weapon +1 per pc and just the porion for the henchman.
Nov 9, 2013 9:35 AM - James L: so we are each supposed to bring a lvl 9 and a lvl 6?
Nov 9, 2013 8:30 AM - Tracy: I'm a big fan of going in without any magic items, however can we afford better than standard issue armor? I'm cool with whatever just curious. :)
Nov 9, 2013 7:56 AM - Tracy: both points for a feat :)
Nov 8, 2013 9:21 PM - Connolly206: When I get the ability boost it give me 2 points to spend, is it one point a feat, or both points for a feat?
Nov 8, 2013 9:16 PM - Tracy: Whenever you get an ability score increase you can substitute that with a feat instead.
Nov 8, 2013 9:12 PM - Connolly206: I lied about asking questions....
Feats? The ranger doesn't seem to get any, is that correct?
Also in next are there do enemies still provoke if they leave an adjacent square or move by you? I can trembler if that stayed in the next rules.
Nov 8, 2013 8:52 PM - Tracy: I'm going to bring a Cleric and a Barbarian. These are my favorites. :)
Nov 8, 2013 8:33 PM - Connolly206: thanks guys. I have a few more question, but they can wait for tomorrow. see you guys then.
Nov 8, 2013 8:31 PM - James L: I can make it. Ill bring multiple characters (hopefully)
Nov 8, 2013 8:29 PM - James L: The way spells work is you have slots. So you could have 2 slots for level 4 spells. You pick 2 spells to memorize and can use those slots to cast whatever you want from those 2 spells. The same spell twice or each of them once, or sometimes even a lower level spell using a higher slot to do more damage.
Nov 8, 2013 7:42 PM - Rob R: Also last post for now - I'll be away from a computer til after 12. SO don't expect responses til I get home.
Nov 8, 2013 7:41 PM - Rob R: Connolly, you only need tomemorize a spell once. Once you klnow your spells you can cast them in any combination you want. If I remember correctly you will have more spell slots than memorized spells.
Nov 8, 2013 7:40 PM - Rob R: We'll meet on one at citicenter.
Nov 8, 2013 7:39 PM - Rob R: OK let' play with three Everyone who feels comfortable bring two pcs 9th level pcs . We'll decide tomorrow how to handle it. Everyone should bring a 6th level pc as a henchman. Only rule is that the henchman cannot be a spellcaster and must be dirt simple to run. Even compared to normal next pcs.
Nov 8, 2013 6:28 PM - Connolly206: Question. I have to memorize specific spells to use them right? Meaning i get 4 1st lvl spells. On an extended rest I need to pick the 4 there and can only use what I prep right? Also can I prep the same spell 4 times if I choose?
Nov 8, 2013 5:22 PM - Connolly206: I'm not proficient enough in next for 2 characters, but I'm guessing both James and Tracy wouldn't have a problem with it.
Nov 8, 2013 5:04 PM - Tracy: Just heard back from my roommate and he said he just got a part and has rehearsal now. :( We could bring 2 characters...
Nov 8, 2013 4:13 PM - Rob R: Also, still haven't heard from Tracy about his roommate. Right now we have three.
Nov 8, 2013 4:13 PM - Rob R: OK. Then let me check with my wife this evening. If we start at one, I'll be finishing later than I said and I just want to make sure that she hasn't planned nothing for Saturday evening.
Nov 8, 2013 4:03 PM - Connolly206: That time still works for me if it does for every one else
Nov 8, 2013 3:43 PM - James L: darn my wife says 12:30 we finish, so i could get somewhere by 1PM likely
Nov 8, 2013 11:01 AM - Rob R: Is your roommate still interested?
Nov 8, 2013 10:20 AM - Tracy: I'm free all day
Nov 8, 2013 10:11 AM - Connolly206: I'm free all day. So any start time and any finish time works for me.
Nov 8, 2013 10:07 AM - Rob R: @ Everyone one, what's everyones cutoff time? After rereading the mod, I really think it should be doable in NEXT in one 6 to 8 hour session. Thought this is only my second time running NEXT and it's hard to properly gauge.
Nov 8, 2013 10:06 AM - Rob R: @ James, what time can you make Citicenter?
Nov 8, 2013 10:01 AM - James L: Does this have to start at 10AM sharp? My wife scheduled a damn photo shoot for the babies and us, at exactly 10 AM, but after that I can play.
Nov 7, 2013 10:26 AM - Connolly206: There was a guy named Dan who was a really good player from my shadowfell game, I will see if he can play because I haven't seen him on the site for a while. Let's make this thing happen.
Nov 7, 2013 10:21 AM - Connolly206: Never mind she works till 3:00. I'll try someone else
Nov 7, 2013 10:20 AM - Connolly206: I'm going to see if I can get Lisa to join.
Nov 7, 2013 10:12 AM - Rob R: Everyone, I can promise some dynamic battles which are different than the 5 on 5 mentality of 4e (not a shot at 4e as I do enjoy, but it's one of the drawbacks of such tight balance design). They won't be as interesting as 4e with the minor action attacks and immediate actions "I screw you" but I believe it will still be enjoyable, ans since combats are quicker, there will be more combats than 4e.
Nov 7, 2013 10:09 AM - Rob R: Tracy, if your roommate still plans to join and we can get a 4th, I'm up for running it with four.
Nov 5, 2013 10:23 AM - Rob R: Thanks James. I was going to look for something like this today.
Nov 5, 2013 9:53 AM - James L: Rob, take a look at this http://community.wizards.com/content/forum-topic/3632536
Nov 4, 2013 11:51 PM - Tracy: My roommate is going to check his schedule but he said he's up for it!
Nov 4, 2013 11:41 PM - Connolly206: I'm pretty sure I can do this
Nov 4, 2013 12:35 PM - Rob R: I think it could be done in one 8 hour session depending on the players.
Nov 4, 2013 12:34 PM - Rob R: I know it's short notice but I just found out I have this weekend free. If not this mod maybe Fane of the Drow depending on interest.
