Description: Going to do a once a month game at the stratagist, starting with Madness at Guardmore Abbey. It is the biggest adventure (and the best in the opinion of many) created for 4th ed D&D. This adventure literally has EVERYTHING. I'm not kidding. I already have a few players, that is why there are only 3 slots. Game is 6-8, I suggest bringing a second character of a different class in case you die--it might happen people!!

Players can RSVP up until Friday -- December 6th, 2013 -- 8:19 PM and then the game becomes set.

Dec 6, 2013 7:09 AM - Kyle: Hey Max, in RPGA games there is a game with plenty of spots, and Augustin is an awsome DM.
Dec 6, 2013 5:10 AM - Max Ximenez: I'd also like to join- I'll swing by CS this weekend and if a spot opens up I'd love to come, I've got a whole host of characters prepped for every possible role so drop me a line at maximilian.ximenez@gmail.com if you'd like to have me!
Dec 6, 2013 12:25 AM - Kyle: Slateskies had to cancel out so no problem. Welcome!!
Dec 5, 2013 6:17 PM - JetxJenkins: Hi, i'm a friend of Miguel and was wondering if it would be okay if I could join in the game as well? I am new to this so I may make some mistakes and the like, but i'm eager to learn. I'm planning to run a Human Necromancer if it be ok for the campaign, though if he wouldn't fit the campaign I have other characters I could run. Thanks for your time, i'm looking forward to finally trying the game out.
Dec 4, 2013 9:41 PM - Kyle: It is both all settings and no settings. Feel free to use any source materials.
Dec 4, 2013 5:55 PM - Miguel Castro: What setting is it Forgotten Realms?
Dec 4, 2013 12:33 PM - Kyle: Slateskies, what is your race/class? I don't want to leave you out of the loot loop....
Dec 3, 2013 12:59 PM - Kyle: I'm still working on figuring out loot, it's a little harder when players can start out picking 2 items when they create their characters. Trying to make it so almost any player can use the item, with a few specific things worked in (implements, weapons etc). See you guys Sat!!!!!
Dec 2, 2013 6:04 PM - Miguel Castro: Drow Warlock (Star Pact Scourge) (Very Curious to see if it's fun) other is any character that needs filling in
Dec 1, 2013 7:37 PM - Kyle: Slateskies, I'm psyched to join your group. Is it starting at level 1? Is the group missing any roles (healer, melee fighter, etc)? I'm trying to harness my obsession with building characters (mostly to create their backstories) and make something badass. I lik playing a veriety, so whatever the group needs I'm in.
Nov 30, 2013 1:00 PM - Konch: Human Vampire Rogue
Nov 30, 2013 12:16 PM - Kyle: Thanks Miguel, guys try to post your race and class by Tuesday so I can get the loot figured out. I have a rule that any loot you find has to make sense in the encounter, and whatever enemy is carrying it gets to use it during the fight. That takes a little prep work to get going but it's more realistic and a bit more chalanging.
Nov 30, 2013 1:49 AM - Miguel Castro: Drow Wizard
Nov 26, 2013 12:22 PM - Kyle: I'm totally in your group if you'll have me, the stratagist does this meetup the first saturday of every month. There are a few spots in manhatten that are public spots where people game, and I run an encounters group on Wed nights at a comic store in westchester (where I live).
Nov 26, 2013 11:32 AM - Slateskies: I'm actually starting a 4e group, and we could use another player or two. Only problem is that our current venue options are all public non-gamer places. How did you book the Compleat Strategist?
Nov 25, 2013 5:56 PM - Kyle: Yeah, I discovered it earlier this year. Not alot going on right now, but I'll be running some campaigns in the new year. Not quite ready for D&D Next. There are so many adventures in 4th ed I haven't played yet and if noone will DM them I guess I'll do it. DMing is better than no game at all.
Nov 25, 2013 1:42 PM - Slateskies: I've heard great things about Gardmore Abbey and I love the 4e ruleset! Wish I found this site sooner!
Nov 25, 2013 12:58 PM - Kyle: I have a few 6th level characters put together already, so there will be plenty of backups. This should be a great game, the group is a good mix of veteran players and newer ones.
Nov 25, 2013 1:16 AM - Konch: Lol, all the rules in 4e are redick in my opinion. I'll be a human bladesinger or a human vampire/rogue hybrid as my main character.
Nov 24, 2013 8:25 PM - Kyle: Make sure to post your race/class so I can figure out loot, and definately bring an extra character. Looks like we'll be a magic heavy party, so some deaths might happen. As a DM, I'm a fan of the coup de gras, I think the rules for death in 4th ed are redick.
Nov 24, 2013 8:23 PM - Kyle: I've been doing some prep work, and I think you'll be OK with just your 6th level sheet, I doubt you'll be leveling up this session. It is remotly possible, so bringing a 7th level sheet just in case wouldn't be a bad idea.
Nov 20, 2013 9:16 PM - Miguel Castro: I have dices as well. One of each sided dice except for d100
Nov 20, 2013 9:13 PM - Miguel Castro: I prefer a caster Classes(Preferably Wizards) since I play a Caster Class in every RPG I play
Nov 20, 2013 12:35 PM - Kyle: Yes. This helps in two ways. One, if your backup character is basically the same, there's no motivation to play and stratigize because if you die, you'll just rejoin the party when they return to their base camp. Plus, if everyone has at least 2 characters of different classes, the odds of having a balanced party will be higher.
Nov 20, 2013 8:07 AM - Konch: Should the backup be a different role as well?
Nov 20, 2013 6:48 AM - Kyle: So far in the other group we have a pyromancer and a hybrid paladin/warlock. The others are undecided and a "maybe" player is another wizard class. Try to keep that in mind when choosing a character. Your "backup" should be of a different class than you start with.
Nov 20, 2013 6:46 AM - Kyle: Miguel as the game gets closer let me know what type of character you want to play and I'll bring you a character sheet. 4e combat can be a little complicated but this game we'll be playing has a ton of role playing as well as fighting. The combat rules are easily picked up on. This first session will be alot of story and setup anyway.
Nov 20, 2013 12:13 AM - Miguel Castro: OK I've never played D&D but I'm willing to try.
Nov 18, 2013 2:34 PM - Kyle: Just to clarify, the adventure starts at 6th level, and as it goes along you'll level up to 8th. This will take several sessions as there is alot to cover. Keeping it at once a month at the stratagist unless the group wants to meet more often.
Nov 16, 2013 9:15 PM - Konch: Well, I am a fan of everything, especially if its of the uppercase variety. If you'll have me I'd probably play a reincarnated version of that bug bladesinger I borrowed from you.
Nov 16, 2013 6:36 PM - Kyle: Just to clarify, the adventure starts at 6th level, and you'll get to 8th by the end (it will take MANY SESSIONS to do that tho).
Nov 16, 2013 8:25 AM - Kyle: If anyone needs help or doesn't have acess to a good character builder just email me and we can build something and I can bring it to the game.
Nov 16, 2013 8:25 AM - Kyle: You are allowed 2 magic items of your level or lower (no rare items). I'm not kidding about bringing an extra character, this game is non linear and you could walk in to an encounter that is 3 levels above you!!
